Located at a spot in the easy which is pretty much Central and easy to spot! The restaurant is themed as somewhat related to Madras with their paintings and seating arrangement like that in an auto (check photos attached). The food taste was okayish and the quantity was definitely less. The Parotta was amazing. The Matka Kulfi was decent too.
Its a newly opened restaurant in Chennai with the best vegetarian South Indian delicacies. I haf paneer Papdi, bubble dosa, Tarakari Korma and bun parotta and all of these were super tasty. The food is super tasty and healthy at the same time. The rice appalam and the chutneys were super tasty. The ambience is so refreshing and pleasing.
The restaurant is part of Kaidi Kitchen with a completely different south Indian theme. Since this was a veg place, it definitely aligned with our dietary requirements. The ambiance and decor were wonderful with paintings associated with South India and its cuisine. We sat in an auto rickshaw that has been refurbished with a table and with better seating. We had a podi idli tikka and batate bubble dosa for starters which were both visual treats. They also tasted great with the condiments of onion chutney, coconut chutney and pearl onion (baby onion) sambhar. For main course we had the patani pulav sadham which is just peas pulao and neikathrikkai kuzhambu (eggplant curry). Both were delectable items and complemented each other well. It was a great experience and I would visit again to try the other items on the menu
Decent experience. Very beautiful ambience and interiors. The eye for detailing in every little artwork is really good.Do try the Auto rickshaw seats, which gives you a completely unique experience. We tried a few dishes, out of which all of them were decent. Most of the items in the menu looks way too complicated or named very differently. But in-fact, theyre just the same dishes we already know. They are apparently using names from different regions in the south, but the process of choosing what to buy is longer due to the confusing names.Other than that, it was a fantastic experience!
One of the very few places which has really impressed me! Its such an amazing place! Must visit. Great Ambience and Great Food! Loved most of the dishes. So much like home food!
Its not a classic South Indian place. Theyve got fusion dishes mostly. Ive got to say this though, the food is brilliant. The first time I saw their menu, I had very little hopes. Im glad to have been proved wrong. Its a great place to take your family to. Even though their dishes arent authentically South Indian, they definitely have a good South Indian taste, with a slight twist to them.
The vibrant colours and ambience is excellent. Highly professional and courteous staff... One of the best experiences I ever had...
Nice restaurant with good ambience, the paintings and the setup are extremely good. The staff were very courteous and professional, the dish names really confused us but its actually the names from different part of Tamil Nadu. Looks a bit costly for vegetarians but for a different experience its worth it!
Unique idea.. Food varieties ok. But prices are at the higher side.. Tastes can improve a lot.
Ambience was super cool, less crowded, great service. Menu was very unique. Bubble dosa is their signature dish, a must try.
Okay food. The staff were unable to handle the service requests. Scope for improvement .. ambience is nice with autos
The food taste was awesome. All the dishes we had were just too good. One star less for just the price, I mean to have south indian food, I think 450/- per head was too overwhelming for me. Notheless, if you dont mind paying extra bucks, and just want the best, then go for it
Supply was very slow, food served was not hot...Ambience is good, presentation is good. Need to improve lot.,
Nice Ambience! Good taste! Definitely for family outing!
Got a running nose or sneezing or cough, forget medication, just drink Thoothuvalai thulasi saaru. We tried it, and we also suggest it to our friends and relatives; believe me its very very effective. Also try their Papdi paneer, it is so very south indian... Here they welcome you with Jeera water and vathal accompanied by green and red chutneys, that prepare your taste buds for the feast to come. Presentation is very appetizing too. End your meal with a kamarcut. Just book an auto(table) and be there
Had visited the restaurant fir Dinner with family and kids.Food : 5/5Ambiance: 5/5Staff: 5/5Food: The place is must try for pure vegetarian foodies. We had DOSA (Ghee Roast, Panneer Stuffed DOSA).The Ghee roast was perfect. The Panneer Stuffed DOSA was above the mark. It was not too spicy and not too dull. It was perfect.Ambiance: The place is designed according to old traditional method. The seats, the paint and the lighting will remind you of your grandparents home. The highlight and unique of the ambiance is the AUTO design which they have come up with. It is surely a different experience to sit in the auto seating (they have converted the real AUTO into SEATS)and have the food. The children will surely love the AUTO and elders too.Staff: The staff are really good and make you feel like a monarch. They are so courteous and humble.Suggestion: The kids chair could have side and front handles to hold them up without any support.Price: The price is little higher and the management could consider in reducing it a little bit.Thank you Southern Street for a wonderful experience !!! Will try to visit again.
Newly opened restaurant. The food is good and the ambience is also nice.
First, though advertised as having elevator for the restaurant on first floor, this is approachable only by a staircase with no ramp which made it difficult for the senior citizen. Overall ambience, food and service was good, not exceptional. The drumstick soup was excellent. The batate bubble dosa is an innovative concept. Pesarattu was good. The paneer parotta a bit spicy. The bisi bele bhath was unexceptional. The pot kulfi was more an ice cream. The thali was reported to be very good.
I was visiting this place for the very first time. I’m a big fan of South Indian food, so I wanted to try some authentic dishes other than the typical dosa, idli sambhar. Plus it being a pure veg restaurant, I had to go. So we ordered rava jini spring roll with sambar, a certain kind of sambhar rice which was very nice, then paneer subzi and kabuli channa masala with parotta. The service, presentation and decor was really nice, and everything tasted good. I tried bubble dosa and bun parotta for the first time. We had drinks, starters as well as main course, and nothing disappointed us. The seating area was quite interesting. The interior decor, and lighting gives a good feel to the place. Must visit!
A relaxing place, Illayaraja songs were at its best - mild music - good food - liked the starters
Too too expensive and taste is not that good. Dont know why the rates are so hyped.

Good food good ambience... Pocket friendly.
Unique taste and presentation . Good interiors . Not so spicy food. Authentic local food
Even on a Sunday the place was not too crowded. Liked the ambience and theme. Service was good. Delicious food, though price is little on the higher side. Thoothuvalai charu, Ulli ela uthiri pakoda, kaikari kothu parotta, palada payasam are must tries.Kids friendly place.
