I came here 2019 during Oktoberfest, was here with a friend from the US.This place was awesome. Lovely beer hall - decorated ceilings and a load of character. It was was packed with what seems to be locals (German speaking folks). It has a really nice interior. Beer was good!Did not try food but looked really good.Great experience of a real German beer hall. Must stop by if you’re in Munich.

Here I celebrated my 48th birthday, great fun, with wonderful people, great atmosphere.HB beer, freshly brewed, I have no words, you swallow it and look for a new glass, and the food extra. Pork knee and steak top.Who wants a good conductor this is the right place for beer beers. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Must visit if you’re in town! There are multiple areas you can be seated, but the main tavern is awesome and has a fun atmosphere. I loved the pretzel lady, the band, and the giant beers! We ate the Julius platter- both the pork knuckle and duck were delicious.

Beautiful restaurant with good food and good atmosphere. Our waiter however wasnt too friendly: raised his voice, didnt really want to take our order, we had to ask for cutlery repeatedly and it took a long time to get the check. Only good if you want to experience a traditional beer hall (or youre lucky to get a different waiter).

We thought it was just a clichè. Just went there to make some pics for friends at home. Stayed for 4 hours and had so much fun.

This was our favourite attraction of Munich and we will always recommend it to friends and family visiting the city. As others have mentioned, vaccination or proof of testing/recovery is a requirement. The atmosphere was what I would consider the traditional/stereotypical German experience, which is why I would recommend it to visitors. The beers are comically large and make for some great photos - let alone are quite tasty.

Honestly cant give this place more props. The vibe and atmosphere here is hard to beat. We visited in late September and even though oktoberfest was cancelled were lucky enough to experience a mini one.Everyone was dressed in traditional outfits and traditional music was being played through out the night. Food is very tasty and generous in portions and the beer is as tasty as most beer in Germany

When in Munich, make sure to visit this local institution. Read its history, admire their walls, and order the one beer that you need to try once before you die. That simple. Covid vaccination required or proof of testing or recovery. Stay inside or open air, all seats are perfect. If the band is playing, you got extra lucky.

Legendary beer garden with traditional food and German band. Anyone going to Munich should go there.

Very traditional, although very crowded. You have to find a place by yourselfe, and sit down, in a sort of fight with other people . Despite the many clients, the cooking and the waiters were quick. The espresso was good! We will come back!

A traditional beer hall, where you can get traditional Bavarian food in a nice setting. Pork knuckle is a must try on the menu but beware, the portion is quite big. Try grabbing a seat outside as it is extremely nice to eat there in summer. Although prices are higher than usual and it is a bit touristy, a must try if youre in Munich for the first time.

Absolutely amazing! The place is always packed but the staff is amazing and the food is Incredible! Hofbräu Winterwickl is amazing and the pork knuckle is just incredible!A must see when you travel to Munich! 100% recommended!

This place is amazing. Great bier and amazing service. Yes it’s busy, as one would expect but it’s worth the wait. We had lots of bier and should of ordered more but ran out of time. We will be back where we r in town. The food was perfect traditional German and flavorful. Thank you and keep it up.

The service was prompt and good! Beer was great even for someone who dont drink often, smooth and light taste. They offer English menu too so it makes the whole ordering experience easier. Atmosphere is full of happiness!

Typical Bavarian food and beer in a lively setting. Im a fan of Belgian ale so lager isnt my first choice but I was glad to sample the local fare in the Hofbräuhaus! If you can eat on the terrasse which overlooks the courtyard.

COVID restrictions made it hard to find a table at this historic brewery, but so glad that we persisted. The beer was great, the space beautiful, the waiters friendly and the atmosphere cant be beat. We especially enjoyed the band and all the guests who enthusiastically sang along.

An iconic German beer hall. Very lively. Food was very good and the beer is served in litre mugs! It had a live German band playing traditional German music. The tables are shared by all so if you go put on your extrovert face and socialise. Overall an awesome German experience.

It is usually full, would recommend going slightly before lunch or dinner so you can find place. Nice and friendly service, good traditional German dishes and beer.

Must-go place when visiting Munich because of the traditional Bavarian atmosphere, good beers and decent food! I recommend to order the Apfel Strudel (very tasty dessert) but they should improve the service!

Very cool place - very big, but still waiters are very friendly and nice. The food is delicious (tatar was so nice i was having a gastronomical orgasm!), Beer is fresh and tasty as well.Prices are middle, for example 1l of beer is near 9.6 euro, tatar is 14,5 euro, 12 bratwurst sausages - 12,9 euro.

If youre traveling in a group, this is a great spot to visit.The waiters are quite nice, and the drink service is quick, but the food service is slow.On the menu, the bratwurst and Kartoffelsalat is a must-try.

We only stopped by for beers, but the beers were phenomenal! It took us forever to hunt and find a seat though, so if you’re starving/in need of beer immediately, budget about 20 min of walking around looking for a spot to sit. We got the dark and original beers- so delicious and hits the spot immediately. Can’t comment on the food bc we read reviews that said the food was so so and we didn’t want to waste belly space, but definitely come by and stop for a beer! Menu included in my review if you speak English and want to know what they have!

Place where Bavarian tradition is kept alive. Food was served very fast after ordering. Prices for the main courses range from 12€ - 24€ approximately. Restaurant eventually fills up very fast, early arrival recommended.

Nice place with delicious beers and decent food

Definitely a unique experience that is worth the stop. Its very loud and hectic, so be prepared. If you dont have a reservation, be ready to wait an hour plus. Very good traditional Deutsch cuisine. We had a reservation, but had to walk around for 10 minutes and talk to 3 staff members before we were taken to our table - otherwise would have given 5 stars.

The beer 🍺 is great and reasonably priced, even though its a tourist hot spot. The Wienerschnitzel is an absolute flop! The meat, that I had, was good but somehow they managed to only fill half of the schnitzel with meat...(still trying to work out how thats possible!)The Steak Tartare on the other hand was amazing according to my partner. Full of flavour and loads of it.

Great experience of Bavarian culture in Hofbrauhaus.Oompah bands, steins of beer, German cuisine and just good fun!Bustling atmosphere and very busy but this did not mean that the service was slow. The exact opposite! The waiting staff seemed to work non stop to keep everyone well fed and watered.Definitely a recommended place for any visitors to Munich.

I ate pork uncle, a weiss beer and apple strudle. Excellent in food and drink.There was live music, traditional music fitting in the restaurant atmosphere. Inside decoration is real pleasant, a memorial to the old times.The restaurant has an inside esplanada, but I preferred the insude rustic atmis0here.Excellent experience.I did not score 5 because the waitress was not able to go everywhere at a suitable time. Need more personnel.

Great place with great atmosphere!

The oldest and most important beer hall in the world. This place is loaded with history and great beer. It is both a local and tourist favorite and is very busy during Oktoberfest. For the pandemic, it seems it is business as usual provided you have a Vax card and or a Covid recovery form. You must wear a mask until you sit down. Dont miss this place.

Historic curiosity aside, this place is awesome. The people, the staff and the atmosphere is amazing. Service was quick and their local beer was awesome. The designs in the interior are honestly a unique experience. Its enough for bragging rights when bringing up where you have had beer in the world.

I definitely had the best beer in this restaurant! The home made pumpkin soup was exquisite. I went there in October 2020 during the pandemic, the oktoberfest atmosphere wasn’t there but i did enjoyed the indoor design. I was happy to see local people with traditional clothes drinking litres of beers next to me. That being said, I don’t recommend the dish I ordered though: the Kartoffelsalat wasn’t tasty and the sausages looked and tasted industrial. I’ll come back for the beer and the soup!

If you’ve been to a big beer hall in any other city, then you’ve probably seen this already, which is understandable since this is the quintessential beer hall. Lots of people drinking lots of average beer and eating average food. Of course, if you’re looking to get a little sloppy somewhere big and loud, this is perfect, and the history behind it makes it much more than just any other beer hall in any other city. If visiting Munich and looking for a memorable bar with a rowdy atmosphere, this should be at the top of the list.

This place is massive!!! Anything you eat will be phenomenal! They know what theyre doing and theyve been doing it for forever now. The beer is among the best Ive had and Ive made it a point to try the worlds best beers. The beer is stronger than most, so try sharing. If you see this tent in Oktoberfest, definitely make it a point to visit. Youll have a blast and sing your heart out.

A must see for any visitor in Munich. This is a huge beer hall were all Bavarian taditions are still very much alive. You can enjoy their own brand beer, amazing food and even listen to the house band.

Nice to have seen, but it feel-factor is like a factory and not so pleasant atmosphere from the waiters (feel stressed).

Food is definitely subpar compared to other options, it feels touristy of course but I wouldn’t call it a tourist trap. The atmosphere is awesome, the building itself is almost worth a visit. The beer is as beer as beer can beer. A must visit in Munich

Not going here is like not visiting Munich.The food is tasty, the service is excellent, we decided to share some of the plates, and the waitress brought us a second plate without even asking her. Food came out quickly from the kitchen and was served at a pleasant temperature.The seating is limited, and you are required to find your seating. This can be a little more difficult during the current COVID crisis as social distancing measures are in place, and only one out of two tables can be used. You may need to look around to find an empty table.

Great place to taste the traditional Bayern snacks and meals. It is a huge place (a whole block restaurant). Its got different levels as well as outdoor and indoor areas. Service is super fast for drinks and a little slower for meals. A must see

Superb Bavarian palatial institution of beer, pretzels and pork knuckle. Rumour has it that our Austrian friend whose name must not be mentioned was once a patron here in the 1930s! Gott in Himmel! Such nice big glasses of cold beer and an oompah band playing constantly. Must visit here again!

I visited 4 of Munichs beer halls or gardens and this was by far the best. It is a must see and visit when in the city, not just for the beer and good food but the atmosphere.

Food, drinks, and atmosphere were all amazing. Just keep wandering until you find a place to sit, totally worth it!

Delicious food and beer, very interesting hall. Due to C-19 restrictions it is only on about 50% capacity, fills up quickly (difficult to find a free table), so come early and get additional beer :) our waitress was very quick to service us and bring our food and beers.

The place to enjoy the Bavarian beer, Haxn and other local dishes. Live music all day long. And they start drinking beer really early in the day 😆😆

The receptionist at our hotel warned us to go anywhere but here. We tried to reserve but no one picked up. We went there and were told at the entrance that our regular mouth masks (valid in the rest of the world) were not good enough and we should buy different ones from them. This to go 5m to the table...!!! Three fully vaccinated people are never going back here!
