Firstly, I loved the hospitality the way they welcomed and send off was truly touching.Secondly, the ambience was such that you feel being in a Japanese household (seen in some movie), low lying sofas in private dining partitioned with bamboo blinds. And ofcourse the main thing, the food. Being the first time in a Japanese Cuisine driven restaurant, was not sure what to have but randomly selected foods and to surprise none failed.. Started off the dining with Miso soup, then a salad, a deep fried chicken, rice bowl and more. The skewers were highly delectable and very much loved the way the food was served. A superb fine dining experience. Thank you very much to the people of Kuuraku..

Its a real awesome place for Japanese cuisine lovers. And if you like skewers, I bet youd fall in love with the ones they provide, Especially the Pork Skewers. They do have very big skewers menu.We were three personnels who started ordering with #Butashabu_Goma_Salad and ended with #Peach_Tea_Soda. All the food ordered were delicious. We had an insatiable appetite that the food wasnt enough and we ordered more and more. The only item we regret ordering was the #Ebisen as the crackers were fried much to an extent that it changed colour.I really appreciate the hospitality provided by the staffs. You guys did a great job and keep up the good work.Alas! We had the Sous Chef | Vinod Yadav, visit us over for the food review. Were sure that well visit the restaurant next time in order to try the remaining menu.Arigato

This place was amazing in its ambience, its impeccable hospitality and not in the least, its out of this world food! I had left my sunglasses there by mistake and they were kind enough to call us and let us know it was there! It may be a little thing, but it brought back memories of the good ol おもてなし (Omotenashi) spirit of the Japanese people! Guess whos heading back for a lunch under the pretext of getting back her sun glasses!👉🏼😏👈🏼 (Hint: its me)

Authentic Japanese food. Absolutely no adjustment to the spice craving indian tongue. Limited options for veg only crowd. The first two spoons of the items took some time to adjust to the taste. But after that the taste was compelling for me to complete the entire dish which I thought might not be possible. Go for it 😋

If you want a feel of Japanese food and ambience in Chennai, this is the place to go. A fine restaurant which offers authentic Japanese food and helps you to discover a new class of tastebuds. The service is also worth mentioning starting from how they greet when you enter and leave the restaurant to the way they attend you. The taste of the food was one of the best I have ever tried. The place is so peaceful with soft music and lighting. Will definitely visit again to try more dishes.

Ambience is tooooo good, the environment, the furniture, the music & their polite staff. Everything gives you a flavour of Japan culture.Coming to the hygiene they are following the covid rules like temperature check, sanitizer, and also they have done away with the menu card and introduced the QR code for menu card which is pretty smart when compared to the other restaurants which have a one time use A4 paper. Now for table selection try to take a table in the private rooms which are on the sides jus beyond the open seating it is a bit cosy and you do have privacy for around 2-4 peopleFor the food its a bit bland like all Japanese food so if you are used to spicy food then this would be a problem, or else its a gastronomical experience.Try the pork and chicken starters and their special Ramen. Overall a wonderful experience.Arigato Kuuraku for this experience, will visit again for sure!!!!

Kuuraku is by far the best sushi place in Chennai and a must visit for Japanese cuisine lovers. Crunchy Ebi roll is my pick of the dishes. The only let down is the lack of options in sushi (They only have prawn sushis). Located in the basement of the Green Park hotel the ambience is soothing.

TLDR: Ambience that teleports you to Japan. Delicious food that entices your tastebuds. Service that matches Japanese hospitality and attention to detail. An all-round experience to be had.Full review: We both love Japanese food and planned a dinner visit to Kuuraku for my birthday. Easy way to reach here is to navigate to Hotel Green Park. Dont put Kuuraku location in navigation! Google maps took us to some tiny lanes where we ended up at a dead end. The restaurant is located in the basement of Hotel Green Park next to Forum Vijaya mall on Arcot road, Vadapalani. As soon as you enter, you get a warm welcome from the staff where they all welcome you in unison from wherever they are. The decor will straight away take you to Japan and you will forget that you are in Chennai. There are few tables in the center and private cabins with Japanese sitting around the periphery. We got one of the cabins. It had kind of a traditional setup with low seating (not on the floor but on low chairs). We felt comfortable in our seats. The table had wet napkins to clean our hands, set of chopsticks and a button to call the steward. We got all the dishes that were recommended in the menu. There is a reason they are recommended, they are absolutely fantastic. This is all what we had - Tori Kushi Course (5 assorted chicken yakitori skewars), Crunchy Ebi Roll (Prawn tempura sushi roll), Teppan Gyoza (Chicken grilled dumplings), Aburi Chashu (Broilled pork belly), Ebi tempura (Prawn tempura), Garlic rice with chicken, Kuuraku Ramen (Pork belly ramen noodles) and finished with Affogato (Vanilla ice cream with espresso coffee poured over). I also had British Empire beer to sip on. Everything was absolutely delicious! The texture, taste and even the dipping sauces were scrumptious. The standouts are Broilled pork belly, Prawn tempura and Ramen. You might think Affogato being an Italian dish doesnt fit in the Japanese cuisine. You are right, but it is available (also Tiramisu) as there is an Italian restaurant right next to Kuuraku called Piccante. We will give that a try someday. The service was quick yet we had time to relax and enjoy our dinner. Angao served us with a smile and was extremely courteous. As we were sitting low, she would also kneel down when taking order so as to be at the same eye level. You also need to take off your footwear to sit inside the cabin. These details makes you truly experience the Japanese culture. This is precisely why it is important to pay visit to such places and not just order on online food delivery services. All of what we ate and drank costed us Rs. 3,730, which is totally worth it.When we were done, Agao was at the door to see us off with assortment of candies and wished us good night. All the staff again thanked us and said goodbye in unison. We left with belly full of delicious food and heart full of love, already planning our next visit. Thanks to my lovely wife for making my birthday dinner so special.

Ambience and food - Japanese style. I cannot comment whether it is authentic Japanese food as I have never been to Japan. But have had some of these dishes in Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong. Food is really good . Tried the skewers and dumplings and they were nice . Don’t go by the photo of skewers as they appear to be too much in quantity. There were 5 skewers and it should be enough for one Person onlyGrilled chicken and rice was great . Only let down was the grilled rice with cheese and for South Indians our rice is the best and nothing can beat it. Don’t try the grilled rice. Grilled fish cake was good. I am sorry I could not give the Japanese names probably I will be familiar on my second visit to the placeRest of the dishes were good and I will go back to try some more dishesYou also have the option of private dining rooms and soft music .service is great and very courteousOn the whole a wonderful experience
