The mortal remains of the Great Anna lies here in the vicinity of the Bay of Bengal. The memorial monument features a huge monolith. It is a great place to hang out. Public have access to the lawn and benches here which makes it a welcoming place. I personally think it is time for a renewal of the monument may be with some additions which makes it architecturally more appealing. A renewal will attract more visitors here and will make it an important spot of tourism in the map of Chennai
Well maintained may reach here for peace a perfect place for photography. Regarding the travel Many buses reach here bcoz of the terminal Anna square. U can also reach here by bike, car but pls see that traffic wont kill us. Enjoy the place with the beach surrounding us and thanks for reading my review.

Anna memorial, locally known as Anna Samadhi, is a memorial structure built on the Marina beach in Chennai, India. It was built in memory of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. N. Annadurai (1967-69), who was cremated here in 1969. The memorial lies on the northern end of the Marina abutting the MGR Memorial. In 1996-1998, the memorial was remodelled at a cost of ₹ 27.5 million and the entrance arch carried the design of Rising Sun, the symbol of the DMK party. However, the design was removed after the AIADMK party returned to power in May 2001. The renovation resulted in the original tusk-shaped entrance arch giving way to a highly polished marble tiled structure, widened pathways, and building of ornamental octagonal mantapams. After the Indian Ocean tsunami struck the coastal parts of the state in December 2004, the memorial, along with other structures on the seashore, was affected. Subsequently, repair works were undertaken at a cost of ₹ 13.3 million. In 2012, the memorial was renovated at a cost of ₹ 12 million. The memorial also houses a museum on Annadurai, which is located at the northern side.
This place is so much filled with crowd all the time, legends of Tamil Nadu and their work is being spread with beautiful pictures and painting in the gallery and the love towards their motherland and the language can be clearly seen in this place.. taking picture of their work is prohibited inside the museum so you must see by yourself

Visited in Nov 2018.Anna Memorial (Anna Samadhi), on Marina beach, is a beautiful structure. C. N. Annadurai (the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) was cremated here. Another Veteran leader & former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi also rests here.Almost at the northern end of the beach, this compound has many beautiful statues & structures to see. This complex also includes a museum on Annadurai (on the northern side). This complex will need around 45 minutes to see & photograph. Mornings and evenings are preferred to noon. The greenery was reasonably well maintained.

Its very important to study about perarignar Anna. Before visiting his memorial. Near by Anna you can visit his brother Muthuvel Karunanidhi was an Indian writer and politician who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for almost two decades over five terms between 1969 and 2011. He was a long-standing leader of the Dravidian movement and ten-time president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.
Its closed due to covid 19 pandemic now.. You can learn who Annadurai is and why he is important for tamilnadu

Definitely a place to visit when in the city. I liked the hall which displays respected Annas historical photographs, used things, his awards and books. Well maintained beyond the huge number of people visiting everyday. Easily reachable from central railway station via bus/local train/ can/ auto. Try going in the morning or evening to avoid the sun. Also enjoy the beach along with it.
