Pros :1) place is sooper cool2) great place for photoshoots3) good choise for smaller crowd eventCons :1) Everything2) They will give only the place we have to book with them the chair , tables , fans and lights..3) we are not allowed to get chairs tables from outside4) chair cost is 75 per piece... And they have it like with cloth and without cloth option and rate varies5) rectangle table ( tables used for dinning , welcome table , ice cream table and juice table ) without cover 75With cover 3206) dinning place : no hand wash area near by guest have to walk to washroom and the walking path from dinning place to washroom will be dark so we cant make our guest walk that way... That is when the incharge will give us two option saying we can have a light in that walking area or we have to book portable hand wash which cost 350 per hand wash..6) they din re-fill the water in the hand wash7) Ramesh is very rude and very impolite and asks money for each and every thing8) And main thing is he send his own people around 15+ to dinning area without our knowledge..9) Ramesh says he will charge us 350 for per person if the count increase on the event day.10) Ramesh is not supportive11) he doesnt provide cleaning people in premises

Way too expensive for the space they provide. Staff are not courteous. Manager is an arrogant person, doesnt respect the quest. Behaves like the owner of the property.

Though centrally located, doesnt show accurate location. A dangerous obstruction while approaching the hall. The house is heritage oriented, lacks upkeep. Utterly dismayed about the location of rest rooms in the ground floor, much inconvenience for the first floor occupants. The positive side is the location has privacy and can be utilised for small events.

A wonderful heritage house right in the middle of the city. We made use of this beautiful property for film shoots on a number of occassions. It is managed and maintained very well. It oozes of old world charm and is a living testament to good old Madras. Recommend this place for all your events, parties, film shoots and commercial productions.

Over the last two decades we all have observed the approach this city is taking, from individual bungalows to moving into apartments. This is where Luz house adds value to lives. A perfect place to regroup with friends or families under an open roof with a beautiful lawn. Its a well maintained heritage property and suits audience of all age and all kind of events . Ive visited there once and look forward to visiting many more times. Perfect get away from home to home.

Disappointed. Cracked floors, improper upkeep, dumping yard designated as a parking lot, dangerous approach road with a tree right in the middle of the alley, very little greenery.....Concerned people should do a restoration job quickly before marketing this place. One big plus though is the location.

A gem in the city of Chennai. I have been to many events here and I really look forward to going each time. Its a home away from home. Perfect for a small wedding, baby shower, engagement or family function.

Lovely old house that has been restored beautifully. I have attended many functions here and have always been struck by its beauty. The place is very cool and comfortable inspite of Chennais blistering heat, maybe in part because of the rock solid old school construction. A place like this can add a touch of old world class to any event - birthday parties, baby showers, sangeeth, dinners etc. Highly recommended.

Came to know of Luz House from thebpeople at Admiralty Hotel. An excellent venue for intimate weddings, engagements, cutural events, soirees, yoga / lecture events. Love the classical nostalgia mix with Indian mid century. On the whole Luz House is one கலக்கல் location.👍👌☺

The history of the Luz House begins with Moddaverapu Dera Venkataswami Naidu, the patriarch, was dubash to Parry & Co (whose HQ was Dare House) in the 19th century. He became enormously wealthy from his business dealings as primary translator for the British and acquired twenty acres in Luz where the Luz House already existed. The Luz House was a part of the grounds purchased in Luz and was not so much of a house but much rather the barracks for the Portuguese armed forces from whom he had purchased the property. It is from here, in this part of history, in exactly 1868 that Venkata Mahipathi Naidu, more famously known as Buchi Babu (the father of South Indian Cricket), was born and the Luz House came into prominence.Luz House was in fact where Buchi Babu worked on his game, between the two mango trees in front of its large portico. In those days cricket in the city was dominated by the whites-only Madras Cricket Club (MCC) and Buchi Babus interest in the game grew watching them play at Chepauk . He used to be taken there as a child by his two english nanny’s and one can say that the influence of cricket upon Buchi Babu was a direct result of his nanny’s. By the age of 20, fuelled by outrage over not being allowed use of the MCC pavilion, he founded the Madras United Cricket Club (now Madras United Club), which focused on taking sport to Indians in the city.Buchi Babu’s three sons, Venkataramanjulu (Bhatt aka Buchi), Baliah and Ramaswamy became great cricketers and carried on the family tradition. With independence and subsequent legislation that acted against vast landholdings, the family was forced to sell its surplus lands. The Luz House itself has always remained within the family. Today, great care has gone into preserving this 200 plus year old house. Though it has undergone many changes, it remains intact, standing tall and proud of its heritage. Throughout the renovation, the grounds around the house have been excavated and brought back to their original levels while the house itself has been painstakingly restored to its former grandiose.Today, the familys intention is to create and make Luz House a destination for people interested in having events that go against the grain, unique in theme and who want to ensure that their event creates a lasting impression.
