I enrolled for their 7 day program Shambavi Mahamudra at the Isha Yoga Center in Ambattur, Chennai. Though I knew about this program I never enrolled as their timings (momning 6 AM or 6 PM) doest fit my schedule. This time they had mentioned that they will have 10 AM to 12.30 PM sessions, so I decided to enroll into the program. I was attending the program from Wednesday April 10th and it was mentioned that Sunday will be a full day class from 6 AM to 5 PM. They mentioned that from 6 AM to 7.30 AM they will be conducting some program in a nearby school and from 9 AM to 5 PM they will continue the program at the Isha Yoga center. I was asked to bring couple of items on Sunday for Deeksha (white cloth, flowers, sweets, coconut, fruits). While returning after the Yoga program on Saturday, me and my friend (she already attended the program at Isha but not at this center, she was attending as volunteer) met with an accident. Both my shoulders are hurting and my left hand and legs were badly bruised from the fall.I have a pet dog and he needs to be walked before I go out, I had requested one of my friends to take care of him on Sunday but my friend was unwell and couldnt walk. I cannot walk him early morning as he barks before his walks and it will cause disturbance to neighbors. So I thought of going back to home between 7.30 to 9 and walk him and come back. It was clear that I couldnt do the Yoga practice but I still wanted to finish my classes and thought of just observing. So I reached this school as mentioned by them and they were playing ball games and flying disk. Around 7 AM I requested one of the teachers that I need to go home, I wanted to leave few minutes early as I stay Nolambur which is 20 to 30 minutes drive and getting back by 9 was tricky. He didnt allow me to go and said that I need to listen to the instructions. The instructions were not at all important and they just repeated the said things. I would have not missed anything if I had I missed it. While leaving they asked us to drop an elderly couple at the Yoga center while going back and since they had asked everyone not to bring mobile phones, the elderly couple didnt bring the phone and wanted to talk to their daughter so I waited for few minutes so that they could use my phone. We also had informed one of the Instructor/Volunteers that we will not be able do the practice as we both are injured. While returning I got delayed by 20 minutes and it was not intended. The Instructor was saying that I am late and cannot continue the program. And was treating as if I was a school kid who did some gravely mistake. I told that anyway I just missed the practice which I couldnt have done even if I was present. She said you do not decide that, we will tell you what to do. When said we already informed about that accident she was saying that you did not me. I also showed a picture of my injured shoulder and she said dont argue with me. At this point I didnt want to proceed the conversation and asked to give my bag. I just put the things they had asked to bring on table, took my bag and left.My friend came few minutes later and told me and they are asking me to come back and “the Instructor said to my friend that she spoke to me like that so I will not be late next time”. I had no mood to go back and I dont think I will ever want to go back. I feel humiliated and my 4 days got wasted, this is not the way you talk to a grown up adult. I am not trying to justify my delay but its not the way you. Sadly these Instructors teach Yoga and mindfulness. After the accident, I didnt even go to visit the doctor but went out to purchase the items they mentioned and really wanted to finish the program. My grandmother cannot walk my pet and I had to go and had they allowed to go earlier during the games I could have come back in time. Or I could have just come by 7 after doing all my work instead of playing these not so important games.I know people will come back justifying the act of the Instructor and will blame me.
