Excellent place to hangout with kids and family. You will find many varieties of fish and you can also choose your fresh fish varieties to be cooked. Also found some photo frames to take beautiful family pics. We tried butter garlic squid, tandoori fish varieties. All tasted yummy.. got some new taste dishes as well. Overall had a great evening at Thoondil after swimming in kovalam.

Last weekend we went for a lunch... We almost waited for 1 hour to have food ...very crowded even though time was 3.45 pm . So very busy restaurant on weekends. We had Sweet corn chicken soup that is not tasty ...crispy lamb is good .. fish manchurian is nice.

The cost is very high for all the products and the quantity was also very limited and top of the arrogance was the limited non-veg meals which is costing Rs.380 per meal which is completely not acceptable at all.The good things are the taste and the ambiance of the restaurant.

We went there on a Saturday night and the waiting time was 40-50 minutes for this place.. we decided to wait because of the hype we heard about this place. We wanted to enjoy some sea food there. So like everyone, once we got a table, we rushed to the table and placed our order. We ordered squid tawa fry and fish cutlet, Since they said these two were on todays special menu. To our dismay, the fish cutlet was so bad.. and the squid was like plastic. Dono if it was reheated . Wasnt fresh at all. We also ordered several other items and we dint want to wait to get disappointed again. So we cancelled the rest of the order. And we started from there immediately.. Would never recommend this place to any sea food lovers.

Ambience was so cool here, with Roofs on our top, ducks roaming around. It was a treat for us after roaming around on a blazing sunny day.Food tasted delicious, tried chinese pot rice and the usual naan. Would recommend for a lil escape from scorching sun.

Restaurant not hygiene. No sanitization on tables. Water glases are we feel smells. Rest rooms are too dirty. They are charge much higher side. But the quality and taste not meet the level. We went based on review 6K above. But dissappointed. Most of the reviews are operators. They charge 380.00 for limited meal, Menu include only 2 gravey and rasam. Plan yourself.

All dishes are good taste wise but price is not reasonable.

There are bamboo fences all around with a Buddha statue in the middle. There are well spaced out individual huts with bamboo or teak furniture.The delicate taste of the food is maintained in the Chettinad variation where the rich spices only compliment the sweetness of the fish. The Fish Seekh Kabab surprisingly does not have a fishy taste and is hearty yet light. They have big portion sizes, so order judiciously. The restaurant has been designed keeping in mind the gorgeous flora and fauna that Tamil Nadu has to offer.

The ambiance of the place is so nice and the food was delicious. Its a perfect spot for Family to hang out at weekends. However, be informed that youll have to wait atleast 30 mins to get a table as itll be heavily crowded.

Ambience and location were good.Food was terrible. Prawns didnt taste like Prawns. Fish didnt taste like fish. Even mint chutney wasnt like mint at all. Cost was exorbitant for the food offered. Quantity was too less. They dont even know what is fish tikka, but they prepare one.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel compelled as the food was absolutely exquisite.Just annoyed I had to share it. place is great! A good place to have sea food. Please explore the live counter than ordering from the menu which will give you more ideas on the sea food range. The have fresh varieties there and cook immediately for you.We ordered prawn briyani.. Which is very good. But its a chicken plain briyani top upped by prawn masala. Chettinad koduva fish which tastes very nice. Nethili quantity is less. Sizzler squid which is very nice.Price. Prwn briyani 300Squid 399Full fish 400 to 500Nethili 240Fish lovers can try definitely.

I visited this place for the second time. Comparing first time, the food tastes are improved. My suggestion is dont go for panner or egg fried rice. We ordered fish briyani, paten briyani, egg fried rice, panner fried rice, chicken schezwan fried rice. Except panner and egg fried rice, everything was delicious. Briyani was like hyderabadi style, where masala was kept at the top with meat. For starters we ordered dragon chicken and nethili fry. The starters also tastes incredible. Final words, it is a must try restaurant for sea food. You can come with your family and even with your friends. I could see many waiting time reviews, I have not experienced it as I visited this place during a weekday. If you are about to visit this place please book tables or ask for table availability and do leave for this place.

The best time to this restaurant is dinner at night. Their signature dish dragon squid was delicious and never had that dish before.

Never go to this place. We had a horrible experience. They just rush us to order food and want to vacate our table for others. We could not have our lunch peacefully. They dont serve deserts and juice. I suspect just to vacate the table, they said they dont have.Not even chill lime juice. Food taste is also just average.

Worst experience. Not keeping the customer centric approach anymore... When asked about the quality of the food served we were told that they never receive any complaint regarding the dish that we had issue. Also hygiene #%& To our shock a big fat rat was roaming around when the restaurant was running at its full capacity. When we enquired we were told it never comes in when the customers are there.. Seems like the rat was a regular unlike us....

Calm restaurant and ultimate Sea Foods

Food was good. This is not our first time visit to this place. We have been here many times. We come as a gang of friends. The seafoods are nice here but we ordered chicken tandoori and it was a bit rough to eat. Not much great when compared to seafoods they serve here. The ambience setup is great. Other thing was we were asked to wait for 10minutes in the reception. We thought it was crowded and they asked us to wait. Once we went to our table we found almost 4 tables were free already and were wondering why they asked us to wait. I mean our 10 minutes lag was unnecessary. Overall. Great food and ambience.

This is the worst food that I have tasted. I went there with my family after seeing the google reviews. We ordered for almost 10k since we were a big gang but then we realized it was a huge waste after seeing the quality of food! The hot pot categories all carry the same sauce with different meats.. the fried rice categories were the worst as you can literally smell the raw meat there! On the whole a hugeee waste of money and this place is just for ambience. The meats are stale and the taste is abysmal. Kindly do not go here and waste your time.

The place and ambience was good..The service was satisfying too.. The dishes were served without much delay and was yum! Definitely recommended..But it really takes minimum 45 mins to 1 hr to get a table on weekends.

We had to wait atleast for 20 minutes before we got a table. There was no proper communication about when wed be getting a table and had to follow up twice. The food was really below average. We ordered ghee prawn roast and got served something that wasnt remotely as close to what we expected. We returned it and the second time it was made a little bit drier with some ghee flavour.We ordered tawa squid which was very dry and chewy ad felt as if it was deep fried. Fish means was the decent of all. Service was relatively quicker. Place was clean. Ambience was nice. Id say there are better places out there. Id definitely not visit again.

The foods are priced at a rate equal to a five star hotel.But the taste and quality is not on par. Full of nothing but masala. After a person finished his dining, the place is not sanitized properly. Just wiped with a cloth. Just an ordinary usual restaurant.

This is my first 1 star review about the restaurant in chennai and nearby areas.We went with family only because of good reviews. But their behaviour is completely local for below scenario🥺.We saw blood stain in Tandoori Chicken while eating. When we informed them, their argument was pointless with no respect.Treating customer with respect should be mandatory which is not in practice for my case😔.Kindly avoid to visit after peak hours(12pm to 2pm). Because then time increases, Respect from them decreases😒

The fish masala is a must try one ..crab lollipop was perfect. Tiger prawns was moderately ok..too much roasted.. Coming to prawn and fish biriyani ,the spices and flavor was not so good. Need to improve a lot... To get the best service and table , we need to reach Early.

Good service and food is available only when you go on time. Even if you are little bit late, service is worst. They will visit your table only twice (To take order and for bill payment).Food is not properly cooked. We spotted blood in Tandoori chicken. When we reported them, they were not ready enough to deduct amount for that dish. There was music played, but it was the sounds of the forest, and went well with the ambience (though they could have played sounds of the sea).Food, though not great, was good.
