I visited this place by word of mouth from my friend. I used to experiment food always and that’s the main reason I visited NEK.So the menu setup is completely different, they’ve separate sections for each meat. Why so because there a lot to choose from each section. So being confused and also was here for the first time, I requested the person there to suggest me with their specialties. I was open to all types of meat. So I was recommended for pork.So as a starter order a dish from pork and that was really really amazing. The way it was cooked and taste was excellent. Actually I didn’t expect that.Then a beef combo with rice, it was also good but not up to the level of pork.Also some momos to try. It was amazing. Also they give you some veggies and accompaniments. The place is little small but well maintained.Overall it’s a very good restaurant where they serve authentic north eastern and pan Asian cuisine at a nominal rate compared to other fancy restaurants.

Been coming to this place for over 5 Years and it’s always been great. The menu can be very unhelpful and hard to figure out what to order. Dried Beef with Naga Chilli, Beef bulgogi, Rayum (their version of Ramen), Beef Broth and Beef or Pork Thukpa is a great place to start. Most of the dishes go really well with their small portion of rice which comes with it’s own accompaniments. It’s you feel fancy try the Samyubsal (Duck belly Barbecue).

Best North East food. Very good ambience. The best thing is the best customer interaction. Feels like they consider each and everyone as guest and will treat them well. The level of satisfaction you get after each meal is great. They will also help you in selecting best dishes for you from their list. Not much crowded at noon time. Looks like a common restaurant from outside; but once inside its going to be a completely different story. Parking space is also available.

Youre here to eat meat. Period. Vegetarians stay clear. The menu has elements of Northeast, Korean and Japanese cuisines. Not familiar with any of these so cant vouch for authenticity. The beef and pork that landed on our table were tasty, pity the same cant be said of the veggies. The veg accompaniments of the meals were fresh and tasty but condiment-like in quantity than dishes on their own. Seating and service very basic. AMEX not accepted..... :(

To start with, the food tastes delicious (no doubt about it). The restaurant is pretty decent and spacious but not for big crowds. Provides you with a different taste altogether as it serves the food from the North Eastern part of India and some Korean menu.I would say its a must try place if you are near the city. The people are very hospitable and makes you feel at home.Only one negative here is the cost! The cost goes high which can be reduced a bit.

Delicious Asian foods... A must try for Asian food lovers

Today a man brought his grandmother to the restaurant. After quickly turning through the pages of the menu, he ordered two plates of egg noodles (one of the cheapest items on the menu). Seeing that the man and his grandmother seemed to be from an economically weaker section of society, Mr.Keishing, the owner of NEK, provided them free chicken soup and also made conversation with the man and his grandmother in the little, broken Tamil that he knew. Turns out the man had come to Chennai with his grandmother from Cuddalore for some passport/visa related work so he could travel abroad for labour.This kindness brought tears to my eyes.At a time when restaurants are intent on cutting costs, maximizing profits, having been affected by the pandemic and lockdowns, Mr. Keishings North East Kitchen has not lost sight of humanity.The smoked pork bamboo shoot fry I always order when I visit feels an extra bit more wholesome in my belly as I type this.

The food is average... And the rate is also normal.. but some times you may get cheated.... The boy/girl who takes order may suggest you some special item is there for the day. We were offered Barbeque. Which was mediocre.. but the price for that special was exorbitant... Other than the special item all other items was good.(In photo is the Barbeque offered- guess the price!!)

Spiceless delicacies of North-East that water your mouth. The place is a Manipuri style bistro where you can have steamed and boiled cooked dishes that are really delicious. The dishes can be spicy or non spicy to meet your tastes as you can request the chef directly. The starters are really sweet appetizers of steamed cooked veggies. The rice is unlimited; you can request after your first serving too. The chicken is really tasty. The curries are boiled chicken stew with less veggies but more condiments. The dessert is pieces of sweet watermelon to end your meal.

I am writing this review right after I finished my lunch here! The food is very refreshing and tasty! Especially after days of typical hot Indian meals. They have a set meal, including 6 dishes of Asian style salad and a choice of meat. If you don’t want to just have a standard western salad in a coffee shop but need something refreshing, this is the place! And the staffs are super nice!!!

Tried pork ramyun. Served with some leafy vegetable i couldnt identify, sprout salad, chowchow+beans, kimchi, vazhaipoo+potato and peanuts. Asked them to make it medium spicy but I wouldnt mind it spicier next time.

Genuine tasty healthy

This is the first time that i visited the North East kitchen. The first thing I noticed was it was small set up which was neatly organised and the people there were kind. I ordered for beef curry with rice and nek side dish along with beef momos. The nek side dish includes mixed sprouts, ironba, frozen vegetables, crispy peanuts, greens . The gravy of the beef curry was thin and the beef was so tender.This was my first experience having the north east food and I must say that the food was really delicious. For all those looking for north east food, this would be the place that I would recommend.

The beef and pork dishes here are really fantastic. You have to try the bamboo shoot variants of the dish. The preparation strongly resembles how you make food at home, is budget friendly and the staff is very friendly.

In terms of food quality I have to say its been consistent and flavourful.. the ambience is pretty much basic North East home style trying to incorporate some of their tradition with contemporary design and style. Heaven for people of North East, its is very much family oriented and also we can see a lot of non north eastern people in he restro which means the food is a delicacy, not suitable for vegans.

This is one of the best north eastern restaurants I have ever been to. Their momos are out of this world!!!!!!! Every dish was jam packed with falvour, and they are not stingy with their portions.

Was looking for momos across the city when accidentally stumbled upon this place. As the name suggests, the place serves Northeast Indian food along with some Korean and Japanese dishes.The place is quite popular among the Northeast Indians residing in Chennai which is evident by the packed occupancy.Tried their thukpa and chicken momos. Momos may not taste like they do in Delhi or Lucknow. Thukpa was actually very tasty and filling, a good choice for dinner. Pork curry is also quite delicious.You will be offered sliced watermelons at the end of your meal.The prices may not please the budget concious otherwise food is good. They can work a bit on increasing the speed of their service.

Being a north eastern, i find this restaurant very nice.. food served here was awesome.. it is pocket friendly budget restaurant which serves north eastern foods starting from momos to thalis.. i have tried pork here, which was very tender and juicy.. the staffs are very friendly.. ambiance was good.. i would recommend all to try each n every item..

Authentic Korean food ! Kim bap and Chicken Fried with Spicy Naga chillies were the best ! The Lassi is some saviour from the spicy food ! Prawn noodles , Pork Fried with tomatoes were also good !

We ordered for a beef dish ,prawn tempura and chicken momo.The chicken momos are the worst momos iv ever had it was full of onions tasted like a onion momo.The beef dish was okay.The prawn tempura was crunchy tasted okay but its a deep fried prawn with a random batter not prawn tempura.Wasted our time and money by coming here.

I ordered the thali meal with pork gravy. It came with six side dishes, one of which was kimchi. The spinach side dish and the sprouts side dish were very yummy. We also ordered this with beef gravy. Both were yummy and left us wanting more. Will definitely go back for a Round 2. Or 3.
