If you are in Maharashtra, please visit this national park... Tropical climate makes winter season the best time to visit Tadoba National Park. However, the best season to sight tigers would be the hotter months (April to May). Post monsoon is also a good time to visit Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary when the jungle becomes lush green and is filled with flowers.

Jungle - Must say it’s really awesome to be at Tadoba National Park. Witness the natural beauty and off course the much desirable wild life. Big thanks to forest department to keep this jungle clean by keeping laws and rules stringent.Officials - Really feel proud to see officials following all guidelines defined by forest ministry. They are equally knowledgeable and aware about scientific names of each creature. They are interactive and helped for proper sighting of animals. Drivers are also following all rules. 35kmph should be the speed as per current rules and they are following it promptly.Cell phone - Cell phones are not allowed here and are kept in proper box within the gypsy. So overall have fun and enjoy the real beauty of jungle, landscapes and animals.

Here are some highlights of the park…The park is open for visitors from 15th October to 30th June every season and remains full-day closed on every Tuesday. The vegetation of Tadoba forest is of Southern tropical dry deciduous type and is spread on around 626 sq.km.Teak is the prominent tree species in the forest and there are a few lakes, which makes sure the park has rich water resources.Major part of this forest lies in the hilly area, thus many hillocks and terrains provide shelter to the wild animals here.It has a dense forest area, smooth meadows, deep valleys, and a great atmosphere to stabilize more numbers of tigers. The main attraction of the Tadoba National Park is Jungle or Tiger Safari in an open top gypsy. There is good chance to spot the shy Sloth Bear and Wild Dogs. One can find some of the Central India’s best native woodland bird species in this forest.Accommodation facilities are available and are mainly concentrated among two of its popular entrance gates i.e. Kolara Gate and Mohurli Gate. The Tadoba National Park is divided into three separate forest ranges, i.e. Tadoba north range, Kolsa south range, and Morhurli range, which is sandwiched in between the first two. The main emphasis seems to be on putting the wildlife first in the sense of looking after their interests. It could not be said to be a wholly natural setting given the several artificial pools, many of which are kept from drying out by a solar panel based water pumping system. The tracks are rather bumpy so people with back conditions should be waryOur agent should have alerted us to the ban on iPhone use even if only for camera purposesBut we saw a variety of wildlife (including tigers) and within the constraints noted above they do come first so Tadoba merits support.

This Tiger reserve has the highest density of big cats in India. Even so, unfortunately we couldnt able to spot even a single tiger during our visit in the month of December. Our overall experience however was top notch. Exploring jungle in the early morning hours itself was an amazing experience and something which we will remember for long long time. Overall management and discipline levels were also much beyond our expectations. There are strict restrictions on number of vehicles or visitors that can enter into jungle area at any point in time. Forest officers are also very particular about the fact that people do not carry any food items or use their mobile phones inside the jungle area. Though initially these rules and regulations appears to be very restrictive, you start appreciating the same as soon as you enter the jungle area. Though tiger sighting is completely based on your luck, there is a good chance that one will spot wild animals such as spotted deer, sambar, neelgai, wild cat and numerous species of exotic birds and butterflies. Overall I would definitely recommend Tadoba to people of all ages and experience the unreal world of wildlife. If I ask to point out one negative point, that would definitely be the supremely high charges for the park entry, specially for the Gipsy ride. One would need to shell out almost 11k for a 3 hours Gipsy ride on weekends, that too if booked 3 months in advance. Government officials should definitely address this and make the jungle more accessible to common people.

Tadoba, located in Chandrapur district is one of the oldest and largest National Parks. Would suggest going here in summer since there are greater chances of spotting tigers. We had gone in winter and books two safaris one in the afternoon and the other early morning. We didnt end up seeing even a single tiger. However we saw the kill and were pretty close to seeing one. The Safari is really great. Theres a good amount of wildlife apart from tigers like bears, deers, sambar, wild dogs, wild boar, pecocks, birds, even a jaguar if you got lucky.Certain tips to keep in mind -1. Book the Safari well in advance to get the best gate based on the latest sighting of the tigers. We entered through kolara gate both the times since a the others were booked. I would suggest you keep this as a backup since there are better entries to the reserve which go the denser parts of the forest.2. No cellphones allowed inside. You are made to deposit them before entering the reserve so carry cameras if you wish to take pictures.3.Make sure youre on time (15 minutes before)for the Safari because they leave multiple number of jeeps from one gate and you could end up wasting time there. Also, completing formalities will take some time.4. Make sure you tie your hair or wear a cap if you have long hair because there is a lot of mud and too much wind.5. Carry some basic stuff like some water and snacks, sunscreen, binoculars, mosquito repellent.

I recommend to get in touch with reliable travel companies who can design a package for you which is convenient. But if you want to save money, then book your stay, safari, and travel (if required) seperately.Leopards, Gaurs, Spotted Deers, Barking Deers, Sambhars, Gray Langurs, Sloth Bears are some of the animals youll have the chance to see. Egrets, Black Headed Ibis, Open Billed Storks, Crested Serpent Eagles are some of the birds you can expect to see.Recently, even Black Panthers have been spotted in Tadoba, which is a very rare and first of its kind spotting.Id recommend to visit this place with friends and family. It was 2006 when I first visited Tadoba and have fallen in love of that place ever since. Since then I make it a point every year. Not only the tiger:Tadoba is famous for its tiger sightings but you have to keep in mind that it is a national park and not a zoo! Seeing a tiger in the wild is exhilarating but do not be disappointed if you dont see one. There are tons of things to see in Tadoba!Tadoba has many bird species and if you are keen on it; you will see quite a few. There are quite a few ways of entering into Tadoba NP. Nagpur is the closest major city to reach Tadoba.Tadoba has multiple gates each connecting to different parts of the Forest. The most popular one is Moharli which is approx4 hours drive from Nagpur. This place has the highest number of vehicles entering the park (30). It also has a big number of resorts for your stay. The second gate (one I usually prefer) is called Kolara. It is around 2.5 hours drive from Nagpur. Number of vehicles on this gate are limited to 8 and hence there isnt as much rush in the morning. There are a few other gates, but you should try and get permits for these.Food:Morning rides in Tadoba are approx.5 hours long and its recommended to carry light snacks. There are no food joints inside the national park.Heat protection:Tadoba gets extremely hot during day time; temp easily reaching 45 degrees Celsius during summers. Hence it is recommended to wear full sleeved clothes to avoid getting sun-burn.Photography:If you use an SLR. Camera you have to pay additionally for lenses above 300 mm length. Have change ready for the same.Hope you have an excellent trip to Tadoba!

T for Tiger and T for Tadoba, For sure you are gonna spot a tiger in the summer months of May in Mohurli (core) as well as Devada/Agarzari (buffer zones). The guides really know the ways of the tigers and will take you to their respective waterholes where they come for quenching their thirst. in Buffer area, Viraj Raut is an excellent guide and we got to see Tigress Madhuri ( as given in photos) from Agarzari within touching range. Apart from her saw Asihwarya and Maya ( both tigress) from Devada and Mohurli (core) and Bajrangi a huge male tiger in core area. Spotted many chitals, barking and sambar deer , a sloth bear, wild dogs and boars , couple of nilgais and even a leopard crossing the road in topspeed. MTDC has the best resort there undoubtedly .Inspite of all the good things there was a bittersweet experience in Mohurli gate as our gypsey driver named Ashu Ranjan ( not completely sure) and guide Kajal gossiped among themselves the entire round, and while a tiger had came out, they refused to move the car back a few steps pointing it as a NO U TURN road where all the rest 16-17 gypseys went back after it. We only had to see from a very far distance as the gypsey ddnt move at all. Even if the rule was legit then howcome all the gypseys were allowed to move back but one high moralvalued Ashu didnt even step back a little, forget about U turn, not even going a bit back, stood firm,on zero humanity grounds.Would ask every visitor to avoid this combination of guide/driver from Mohurli core gate. Rest Tadoba is superbly fine and a must visit,PS: A Black Panther is now there at Kolsa Region.!

We four friends highered Maruti jeepsy for 6 people. Advance online booking is mandatory.Spotted tigeress Madhuri with her three cubs in Agarzari zone twice. It was close encounter. We were lucky to spot tiger. Also spitted sloth bear, spotted deer, many birds and pug marks of tiger.Total trip was for about more than 3 hours with one short break in between. Our local driver and guide were very energetic in searching for the tigers. All vehicles and guide were in touch each other with reliance phone network.Enjoyed this safari with my friends.

One of the beat place for seeing tigers and other mammals/birds. Do visit in weekdays. Book safari atleast 60-90 days well in advance. Or book through agent or direct hotelier.Once of the hottest place in India, so beware.Tiger sighting is matter of luck, so dont upset, if you dont see tiger. Do minimum 4 safaris.-Ashok
