Well this was a terrible disappointment. I usually try to support small mom and pop stores but the overall experience was sadly really bad. Ill just concentrate on food as I dont weight the experience of poor service too much in my review. The dosa I ordered was cold (maybe at max room temperature) but the chutney they gave was super cold almost like it hadnt thawed out yet. The sambar was warm but tasted like it was made with shelf sambar powder. The combination of these three just spoiled the whole experience. Oh well onto trying other South Indian places.I see that I had an unfinished review with an equally poor review which means this was an issue pre-covid and thus does not leave too much leeway for covid woes as an issue. Also no one was wearing a mask or taking much precautions (shrug)

...sandhya and prashant are nice...prompt, sometimes overwhelmed because of lack of help, but respectful......dosas, utthapams, idlis, bondas, vadas - all well made and fresh...accompanying sambar, chutneys are also tasty and spicy...rice dishes, like bisi bela bath, are also good...we have also enjoyed upma and pongal...plus south indian coffee...good job indeed...just wish they would increase the quantity of the sambar and add more masala to the masala dosas!!......south indian desserts are limited in variety, if you like sweet things, that is......chole-bhature (garbanzo beans with fried bread) or puri-aloo (potato curry with bread like sopapilla) are also tasty......they need a frequent eater program and discounts, to retain existing customers, or attract new ones...they also need a modest lunch buffet, if possible......overall, our favorite for south indian grub, and we have tried them all in arizona!!

I visited the restaurant on 10/29/2020 at 5.10 pm for dinner. This is COVID 19 era. This restaurant is situated in a mall and set up as a fast food set-up. You pay upfront and get your food.Ambience - When I entered, I did not get a good vibe. The restaurant had definitely seen better days. The taped up seats should have good reasons to leave, but i decided to give it a try.Customer Service - The man taking my order was not having a good day. It set the tone for my experience.Utensils - Paper plates and Styrofoam cups for dine in.Food - There was a good selection of food. I ordered Onion Rave Masala Dosa ($9.50) and the Grill Thali (#13.99). Came to about $25++.Taste - The Grill Thali came with instant Idly, and instant Vada, and masala dosa. The masala dosa was hot but the two chutneys were ice cold, with the sambar watery. I asked if the chutney can be heated up and was told No. The Onion Rave Masala Dosa also came with ice cold chutneys. I was eating a hot dosa by dipping into a cold chutney!!!!I finished my meal and the tea had not arrived. I just wanted to leave, asked for a cup cover to leave, and was told that they do not have a cup cover ( I wonder how take away orders are fulfilled).Experience - I do not recommend this restaurant. I did not get value for money and bad customer service with Indian food that is made from instant freezer food. I would be happy paying $25 to eat at Olive Garden.

We visit one or the other family owned restaurants during our valley visits. This is our best bet for our dosa, chai, ven pongal fix and almost all South Indian dishes. Extremely hard working and genuine couple, serving great home style food. Their prices are comparably high according to some people but to me it feels justified because ingredients are good quality and oil quality is good. I prefer driving back home without a tummy upset. I don’t care about cheap Indian food available all over the valley

I wanted to love this place, but it just didnt do it for me. I dont understand how Indian food can be bland but I thought theirs was. The potatoes in my dosa had a very inauthentic buttery flavor... almost like margarine. I dont care about presentation or foam plates, but I do want my food to have flavor!

We went to this place on Friday evening and definitely not going there again. We ordered Mysore masala dosa and Thali. Mysore masala dosa had some kind of red food color inside and Thali was super cold. They served in a foam plates which was super disappointment. That could be because of covid . But overall arrangement is too bad. They don’t even have water dispensers. The worst South Indian food I have experienced ever. Price is too high. I will happily spend 26$ at Olive Garden instead of this. Not recommended at all 😕😕

Authentic South Indian restaurant offering wide range of options. Dosa, Idli, mirchi bajji, samosas are the best. Owner of the restaurant cooks the food fresh everyday and he is the best at all kind of dosas. This restaurant outranks any place when compared to dosas.Prices: Their prices are reasonable when compared to the competitors. What to try?Obviously dosa, but if you are more into rice items then definitely try their veggie fried rice with Gobi Manchurian.

I would agree with the review below. The person at the counter was not friendly at all. However the server was nice and smiled at us. We ordered South Indian Thaali. The food tasted good although it wasnt the best but who am I to complain for a price of 9.99 and such huge portion. But as soon after eating I started having upset stomach. My stomach cannot tolerate stale food. The person did not even look up as we were leaving to say Thank You. Besides we were the only costumers. How hard is it to be nice to the only costumers in the room. And it explains quite well why the place was empty.

I had an order of special vegetable curry. It was very flavorful however they served there food in paper bowls and paper plates. **VISIT THIS PLACE AT YOUR OWN RISK** This place serves food that tastes good, but they serve extremely hot food in Polystyrene Cups & Plates, which is not supposed to be done. It increases the risk of getting cancer. They do it to save money and make profits. Our innocent Indian community doesnt pay heed to it, but if you go to this place often, chances are that your digestive tract will not work normally. Also, the attitude of the cashier and the way they treat their customers is not up to the mark.. I think its the owner who is the most arrogant. This place is a health hazard. Be safe guys.

Review №62

First of all, this location is NOT a franchise of the Woodlands South Indian food company. The standards are much, much lower. Fraud and trademark infringement aside, the food itself is not that great. The entrees are priced like that of a sit-down restaurant but then the food is plopped onto paper plates and styrofoam bowls... this ruins the food presentation not to mention how horrible this is for sustainability. The taste of the food was good, if you can get over all the presentation stuff. The dosas were soggy and falling apart, but the stuff inside tasted fine. I wouldnt take anyone here. And it bugs me so much that they are using the logo of an established and respected brand to bring in customers and serving less-than-stellar meals. On top of all that, they make you bus your own tables, like a Taco Bell.

Genuine Udupi restaurant. Though they serve in Styrofoam cups and plates the food was very delicious. We also spoke to the owner. Unlike the Udupi hotel in Phoenix this hotel serves genuine South Indian aka Karnataka food. For those reviewers who are cribbing that it is not Madras or Tamilnadu cuisine, please get a life!. You do not come to Karnataka restaurant and ask for Madras food!. This place makes one of the best dosas I have ever had.Mysore masala dosa was delicious and South Indian thali was worth it. I hope an things are even better once they redecorate the place and have bit more seating and use steel utensils.
