Have a nice visiting to Chanderi Fort.First of all I wanted to say that Chanderi Fort is situated at a height of 71 metres, above the town on a hill called Chandragiri. The fort is 5 km long and 1 km broad. The inscriptions that are excavated from the fort, which are in Gwalior Museum at present, say that this fort was built by Kirti Pal, a Pratihara king in the 11th century.The Chanderi Fort is located in the small historical town of Chanderi in the Ashoknagar District of Madhya Pradesh. The Chanderi Fort is the most conspicuous monument in this ancient town. The Chanderi Fort dates back to the Mughal Period. The Muslim rulers took a lot of initiative to construct the fortification walls of the fort. The Mahals within the fort were built by the Bundela chiefs.The Chanderi Fort is approached through three gates. The first and main gate is well known as the KHOONI DARWAZA. It has been so named because criminals were thrown from the battlements above and their bodies crashed to pieces below. HAWA PAUR is the third and highest gate of the Chanderi Fort. The remnants of the Chanderi Fort include the Hawa Mahal and the Nau Khanda Mahal. Both these buildings were built by the Bundela chiefs.There is yet another gateway on the south western side of the fort. This queer gate referred to as the KATI GHATEE is 59 meter in length, 12 meter in breadth, 24.6 meter in height. Architecture is wonderful and you can view whole city form top of fort. The main gate of the fort is known as the Khooni Darwaza. Chanderi fort is situated on a hill 71 meter above the town. The fortification walls were constructed mainly by the Muslim rulers of Chanderi.

Chanderis fort is situated on his mountain. From here, there can be a look of Chanderi.The architecture used in this fort remains very clean even today.It is believed that this fort belongs to the king of Mahabharata, Shishupala.The view of the sunset from this fort looks very beautiful.

Chanderi is also famous for some wonderful things, as the saris are very beautiful and distinctive, which are made by the traditional craftsmen of this region. Besides, Chanderis last Bundela ruler Mardan Singh participated in the freedom struggle 1857.
