Very nice place mountain
I visited this place called Nanda Devi in Uttrakhand as solo traveller & with my family too. I started my journey from Delhi. It took me 11 hours to reach Nanda Devi via our own car ride. While walking through the streets I came across this beautiful landsacpes around. It was totally breathtaking. So calm & peaceful this place I found. I took my stay in one of the Uttrakhand tourism hotel. It was my memorable & pleasant stay at this place. I can recommend this place to all.
Most beautiful peak i have seen and highest in Uttarakhand
This was an entertaining film although a little on the slow side. Overall enjoyable ride which plateaued a little in the middle. And The one massive issue I had was that when our two protagonists looked tired, cold and hungry, the dog seemed to be full of enjoy of energy for the entire film.constantly bounding about like he was on a morning walk in the snow.....the little guys feet would have been so frost bitten and they should have at least made comments towards his condition as every time I saw him leaping through the snow it just ruined the tension. Ok for a last night view. So much 🥰 fun
The Nanda Devi National Park remains open between the months of May-October. Visitors are now allowed to explore the park till Dharansi inside the core zone. The villagers of village Lata, the gateway to the Nanda Devi National Park are now offering community led interpretative trek to the Nanda Devi National Park. A unique opportunity for cultural immersion while browsing the physical landscape. Interested travelers can drive straight to village Lata, which is just 25 km from Joshimath. There is one 10 room lodge and home stays in Lata village. All trekking and camping equipment available at Shepherds Lodge Devangan in Lata village and the guides are trained from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. The park is a good place for bird watching too. For day visitors, there is an opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Nanda Devi from the recently established Interpretation Center at the Devangan Lodge in Lata

Outstanding location.💖
Nanda Devi is the second highest mountain in India, and the highest located entirely within the country. (Kangchenjunga, which is higher, is on the border of India and Nepal.)It is the 23rd-highest peak in the world. It was considered the highest mountain in the world before computations in 1808 proved Dhaulagiri to be higher. It was also the highest mountain in India before 1975 when Sikkim, the state in which Kangchenjunga is located, joined the Republic of India. It is part of the Greater Himalayas, and is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, between the Rishiganga valley on the west and the Goriganga valley on the east. The peak, whose name means Bliss-Giving Goddess,is regarded as the patron-goddess of the Uttarakhand Himalaya. In acknowledgment of its religious significance and for the protection of its fragile ecosystem, the peak as well as the circle of high mountains surrounding it—the Nanda Devi sanctuary—were closed to both locals and climbers in 1983. The surrounding Nanda Devi National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

Nanda Devi, the range’s highest peak, and to 25,446 feet (7,756 metres) at Kamet, near the Chinese border. At elevations above 14,000 feet (4,300 metres), snow covers the mountains throughout the year. Glaciers and snowmelt feed the headstreams of the Ganges River in torrents that rush through gorges and steep-sided ravines.Below the permanent snow line—between 9,000 and 14,000 feet (2,750 and 4,300 metres)—is a cold windswept zone where herders take sheep and goats to graze during the short summers. At lower elevations, between 3,500 and 8,000 feet (1,100 and 2,400 metres), a temperate climate encourages year-round settlement; farmers raise livestock and cultivate terraced, irrigated slopes. Deodar cedar forests supply timber that is sold on the plains to the south, but in recent years deforestation has diminished timber yields and caused land degradation and erosion. Commerce centres on Dehra Dun, the capital of Uttarakhand, in the southern foothills. Indians from the lowlands use Mussoorie as a summer resort and educational centre, and Hindu pilgrims travel into the high mountains farther north to visit shrines at Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Gangotri.
Highest peak of India. Not easy to climb
Nanda Devi is the second highest mountain in India, and the highest located entirely within the country. It is the 23rd-highest peak in the world. It was considered the highest mountain in the world before computations in 1808 proved Dhaulagiri to be higher.
Pride of Our Heaven .... Uttarakhand 💞✨❣️🌼

Nanda Devi (Hindi: नन्दा देवी) is the second highest mountain in India after Kangchenjunga and the highest located entirely within the country. (Kangchenjunga, which is higher, is on the border of India and Nepal.) It is the 23rd-highest peak in the world. It was considered the highest mountain in the world before computations in 1808 proved Dhaulagiri to be higher. Nanda Devi East (Hindi: नंदा देवी पूर्व) locally known as Sunanda Devi is the lower of the two adjacent peaks of the highest mountain in Uttarakhand and second highest mountain in India; Nanda Devi is its higher twin peak. Nanda Devi and Nanda Devi East are part of the Garhwal Himalayas, and are located in the state of Uttarakhand. The graceful peaks of twin mountains are visible from almost everywhere in Kumaon. The first ascent to Nanda Devi East peak in recorded history appears to be in 1939 by Jakub Bujak and Janusz Klarner. The elevation of Nanda Devi East is 7,434 m (24,390 ft) and its prominence is 260 m (850 ft).Nanda Devi East is the lower eastern summit of the twin peaks of Nanda Devi a two-peaked massif, forming a 2 kilometres long ridge, oriented east-west. The western summit is higher, and the eastern summit called Nanda Devi East is also locally referred to as Sunanda Devi. Together the peaks may be referred to as the peaks of the goddesses Nanda and Sunanda. These goddesses have occurred together in ancient Sanskrit literature, Srimad Bhagvatam or Bhagavata Purana (Gita Press has a two-volume English and Hindi translation) and are frequently worshipped together in the Kumaon and Garhwal as well as elsewhere in India. Regarding certain mountains as sacred and associating them with specific Gods and Goddesses is a practice prevalent in other parts of Asia as well e.g. the volcanic Mount Fuji in Japan appears to have been named after the fire goddess. The first published reference to Nanda Devi East as Sunanda Devi appears to be in a recent novel (Malhotra 2011) that has the Kumaon region as backdrop. An annual Nanda Devi Raj Jat festival celebrating the two goddesses is popular in Uttarakhand. The Himalaya have also been personified as the Lord Himavata, the God of snow, who is mentioned in the Mahabharata. He is father of Ganga and Saraswati, that became rivers, and Parvati an avatar of the great Mother Goddess Durga, who married Shiva and the goddesses Nanda and Sunanda who too are avatars or close spiritual associates of the goddess Durga.
Nanda Devi, which literally means ‘Bliss-giving Goddess’ is the name given to the mountain which is counted second among the top tallest peak in India, when Mount Kanchenjunga that stands on the border of India and Nepal is excluded. Nanda Devi peak is considered as the Patron Goddess of the Uttarakhand Himalayas that has Rishi Ganga valley and the Goriganga valley flowing on its west and the east side, carries great religious significance in the Hindu religion. Blessed with an altitude of 7,816 m above the sea level, Nanda Devi peak. along with the other surrounding mountains encircle the beautiful Nanda Devi Sanctuary conserving the fragile ecosystem. It is a two- peaked massif, of which the western peak is higher than the eastern peak; which is now popularly known as Sunanda Peak, formerly it was called Nanda Devi east. Together, both the summits called the peaks of the Goddesses Nanda and Sunanda......
Blessed are the people who live in this magnificent landscape. The Interpretative trek offered by the village Lata was an experience for the lifetime. Beautiful people with rich cultural heritage
The fact that a nuclear device, from US & Indias joint operation in 1960s, is still buried there, makes it an adventurous place.
Peaceful and serene place to visit .

Second highest mountain in india ... Religious... Famous national park
Golden light as the first sunrays kiss the top of Nandadevi main (25642ft). Nandadevi is the patron w of uttarakhand. The entire national park is protected due to its fragile ecosystem and one of the only remaining hotspots for the elusive ayurveda herb jatamansi (biblical spikenard). A tough 70 km trek and a cold night camping at around 14000ft to experience this divinity.Location: Nandadevi east base, Uttarakhnd
Outstanding place...and i love this place!! Its a heaven for me!!
Its a very ancient village near pachhu surrounded by Betula utilis trees. Its the spot from where u can see the magnificent view of Nanda Devi East and start your trek to the Basecamp. We can give you an independent opinion. The centrepiece of the Garhwal region is undoubtedly the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. Until 1934, the gorge of the Rishi ganga river and the immediate area around Nanda Devi peak was one of the least known and most inaccessible parts of the Himalayan region. In the Sanctuary, the mountains stand in a vast amphitheater, seventy miles in circumference and Nanda Devi in the highest peak in the Indian Garhwal Himalaya. The mountain has two summits, the main summit at 7816m (25,643ft) and Nanda Devi East at 7434m (24,389ft). The mountain itself in surrounded by a number of peaks over 21,000ft, making it an extremely difficult mountain to access. This circle of peaks forms what is known as the Nanda Devi Sanctuary.

The surrounding Nanda Devi National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.Nanda Devi is a two-peaked massif, forming a 2-kilometre-long (1.2 mi) high ridge, oriented east-west. The western summit is higher, and the eastern summit is called Sunanda Devi formerly known as Nanda Devi East is the lower one. The main summit stands guarded by a barrier ring comprising some of the highest mountains in the Indian Himalayas, twelve of which exceed 6,400 m ( 6.4 km) in height, further elevating its sacred status as the daughter of the Himalaya in Indian myth and folklore. The interior of this almost insurmountable ring is known as the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, and is protected as the Nanda Devi National Park. Sunanda Devi lies on the eastern edge of the ring (and of the Park), at the border of Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts.Together the peaks may be referred to as the peaks of the goddesses Nanda and Sunanda. These goddesses have occurred together in ancient Sanskrit literature (Srimad Bhagvatam or Bhagavata Purana) and are worshipped together as twins in the Kumaon, Garhwal and as well as elsewhere in India. The first published reference to Nanda Devi East as Sunanda Devi appears to be in a recent novel (Malhotra 2011) that has the Kumaon region as backdrop. In addition to being the 23rd highest independent peak in the world, Nanda Devi is also notable for its large, steep rise above local terrain. It rises over 3,300 metres (10,800 ft) above its immediate southwestern base on the Dakkhini Nanda Devi Glacier in about 4.2 kilometres (2.6 mi), and its rise above the glaciers to the north is similar. This makes it among the steepest peaks in the world at this scale, closely comparable, for example, to the local profile of K2. Nanda Devi is also impressive when considering terrain that is a bit further away, as it is surrounded by relatively deep valleys. For example, it rises over 6,500 metres (21,300 ft) above the valley of the Goriganga in only 50 km (30 mi).
