Well after a 13 hour journey I wanted a good meal to finish my day. Thank you Bari Restaurant for a fantastic meal, next time I am in Carlisle with work or family guess where I am going to be wanting to go. Highly recommended. Fresh, great flavour food. If you dont come here while visiting Carlisle your missing out.

Ok restaurant, good service. Humongous naans

This restaurant was 5*. The food was amazing. My partner had a bison dish and it was just delicious. The staff were so friendly. They advised on what to order to go with the new taste of bison. The naan bread was huge 😄Easily fed 3 of us.Nothing was too much trouble. The chef Bari came out and had a lovely chat with us. Next time we go he is going to cook us something special. Cant wait. My partner said best Curry House he has ever been too.

I wonder if you all know whats the real taste of Bangladeshi cuisine..in this place the food was not that good.The lady was very kind but the man instead,the cook, started to talk and talk..quite annoying and nasty. If you look for a good indian restaurant in Carlisle go to Shaha, not here. Never again

Bari are currently open at weekends for takeaway and delivery only. After a long set of shifts I was not in the mood for cooking, so I tried Bari. Honestly, the food is amongst the best “Indian” food I have ever had. Well cooked and seasoned and not flooded with ghee. Not the cheapest but definitely amongst the best! Also, a very kind discount for NHS staff was greatly appreciated

I truly feel happy every time I order food from Bari.He goes beyond the normal cooking, it’s simply the best for Indian cuisine. I can say this even after have tried different styles of Indian cuisine even in many Asian countries.I always look forward to Bari whenever it comes to Indian food. Thank you.

Grabbed a takeaway from Bari on an overnight stay during pandemic, and based on the reviews. Absolutely out of this world. Cod Pakora to die for, Salmon Masala ditto. And the best garlic naan Ive had in years.Lovely owner too - a great bloke with a special place here. 👏👏👏

A Carlisle gem! Mr Bari is the most amazing host. Do not expect to be rushed in and rushed out. Expect expert recommendation from the man who cooks your food, excellent food, lovely inside (way better than the outside leads you to believe). This really is a Carlisle secret waiting to be found. Excellent!

Always go to Baris for a.meal when we visit the area. Food is always tasty and plentiful. Great choice on the menu and Bari always makes sure you have a fabulous eating experience. Looking forward to our next visit. See you soon Bari

Traditional and hospitable Indian Restaurant a stones throw from Carlisle Castle. Great ambience and service. Food is decent. Portions can be on the small side but huge naan breads make up for it. One of the better Indian Restaurants in Carlisle.

Delicious, reasonably priced, HUGE naan breads. Turned up hot not lukewarm. Lovely staff and nice decor. Nice little find.

Great servers. The two young girls were very busy tonight but certainly remained professional in a hot restaurant. Very good food. Just a star off as little wait on food.

Visited only because it was close to the museum wed driven from Notts to see. Unprepossessing location but the food was absolutely superb, the staff friendly and the chef/owner knowledgeable and happy to see that we had the best experience possible of his efforts. The best curry weve had for years! Worth a BIG detour to visit again. (Museum is quite good, too!)

This is a gem of a curry house to call it a curry house does not do it justice the food is a taste sensation. I travel a lot with work and have had Currys from lands end to John ogroatsThis is one of the best😄😄😄be adventurous and try the exotic meats you will not be disappointed.

Great place to eat. Took my elderly parents who werent sure about Indian food. They loved it. Made them a selection of milder dishes and talked them through the menu. Thank you. Highly recommended. Lovely surroundings, service and food.

Very friendly staff. The chef came out to help us decide and we ended up getting surprise kangaroo and chicken dishes, they were absolutely delicious. The naan was huge, more than adequate for two people.

Just called in after golf at Kendal and as usual it did not disappoint. The service is great and the food fantastic one of these days we will eat all the nan bread - its so big!! If you want a curry when you are in Carlisle this is the only place to go to.

Fantastic restaurant. Food was the best and this place has now replaced my number one curry house. Will most definitely come again whenever I am up North (I live in London but it is worth the travelling for the best curry ever!)

The way the owner talks too the staff is absolutely horribleShouts at the staff Infront of customers and swears, complains that they should not talk to customers even though he disturbs the customeres.What a shame good is nice though

We love this place the crab moni puri is to die for as a starter and we always order something different and I have never had a bad meal here. Bari is full of character and he is a lovely man with a lovely family. Sarsung jingha (probably spelt wrong) giant prawns are pretty special too.

What can i say, 5 of us went to the restaurant to for a meal before going to a concert, the owner is a bit of a character, entertaining, knowledgeable and very passionate about the food in his restaurant, with his advice he will take you out of your comfort zone to give you the best experience, we will definitely back.

A friend and myself visited Bari restaurant on Wednesday evening and were greeted by friendly helpful staff. we were surprised with the extensive menu but eventually chose our meals. the starters were excellent, the main courses were perfect and the naan bread melts in your mouth. Our visit to the Bari was a great experience and we cant wait to go again.

Love this restaurant, I like the outdated decor its quaint . Very comfortable and friendly. Food tastes great, been to India many times and Sri Lanka definitely lives up to the cuisine we had there. A must go to Indian in Carlisle !

Great Indian food with friendly service. A lot of Indian restaurants serve mediocre oily food, but not at Bari. The food is tasty, with a choice of some very exotic meat for the more adventurous - Ostrich any one?

Friendly staff, decent ambience, AMAZING FOOD! We ordered Dal Makhani with rice, Tandoori roti and Cauliflower bhaji. I always request any Indian restaurant I visit to go light on oil and spice flavoring. This instance I forgot! But the food that was served was like what we would prepare at home - no or low oil, authentic, moderate blend of spices and finger licking good. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is nostalgic about North Indian food.

I came here with a friend, i was working in carlisle called around for halal curry house came across this place . ordered lamb seekh kebab and tandoori chicken masala 2 naans and some rice, waitress serving asked if we wanted the curry to share , don’t know what she meant by that but at 10 pounds a curry this is more than southall or tayaabs in london and the curry in south all and london is 5 stars , this to put it nicely was the worst curry i have ever had, tasted like pataks or a curry paste wasthrown in, very expensive however if your ever in a dead town like carlisle this is the best they have to offer i would never go out for food. very poor food , service was very good however we were in the only ones in there. stay clear very expensive 10 for a curry. 3 quid for naan, it’s half the price in london but like i said locals probably don’t have much choice

Second time I have eaten here on recommendation from my Dad. Was going to order in at home but the option to have a korma here agin was far to tempting. Quick service, lovely atmosphere and great staff. Each time we have been the owner has come to speak to us at our table and has recommended which rice/meat to have with our dishes, great touch. He always come back to take feedback on the meal. Cant say that for any other restaurant in town. Love eating out here, best indian in town. Thanks again! x

Best Indian in Carlisle. Much more traditional, authentic food and great range of exotic meats to try. I know some people get put off when Bari tries to encourage you to try new things. If you are one of these people who is not willing to try great new foods and flavours then dont bother, get yourself down to the local English/Indian takeaway for a chicken tikka masala. However, if you like to try new things, Bari will personally recommend something for you and you will be pleasantly surprised how good this place is.

Food is pretty good, I really enjoyed the Green Massage Chicken - but the sides were nothing to shout about (Saag Paneer & Aloo). Service could be a little friendlier too.
