Absolutely amazing restaurant! The last time I dined here was with a larger group of about fifteen people which can be a challenge to serve for staff but I was so impressed with the fantastic service we received. We were seated immediately, the waiting staff were so patient and helpful when taking our order. The staff were so careful to make sure we received everything we ordered correctly and incredibly quickly. They then continued to check in with the table throughout the night. In addition, the food was delicious and had generous portions. Would highly recommend!
We had both family and our Hotel recommend this restaurant as a place to try when in Canberra. We made a last minute decision to go on a Tuesday night, and couldnt believe that we had gotten a booking given how busy it was! My little one got the butter chicken and absolutely loved it! And myself and partner tried a whole range of dishes. All of which were just as delicious as the next. The wait staff were amazing! We ordered a heap of dishes to come out at the same time, and the wait staff even looked at us funny and suggested that maybe we shouldnt order so much. i know some people might have taken offence, but to us it showed that the staff cared more about our experience then making money from us. In fairness they were spot on! If we had of ordered one more dish it would have gone to waste. The food tasted absolutely delicious and came out so quickly. This is definitely one to try when you are in Canberra.
Delicious!!! It was so good and the serving sizes were perfect! My kids loved their butter chicken and ate so much. The mild/med/hot spice ratings are also accurate too.Would love to come here again.
To start off, the food was amazing! Really tasty butter chicken and fish curry. However minus two stars due to the attitude of one of the waitress. We had to ask twice for the menu to arrive and it wasn’t even busy. Also, the waitress never smiles whenever she’s serving us. At the end of the meal we thanked her for her service but all she did was twitched the corner of her lips. Overall, I would still recommend Blue Ginger, we had a great time there.
Had a nice meal here. Drinks were nice too. Meals were all very tasty. Service was great. Had a very tall roof space in restaurant. Will be back again.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Canberra. We have never been disappointed. It’s was a Friday night and the restaurant was full. The restaurant host was amazing and prompt at finding us a table even if we didn’t have a reservation. I would like to recommend every one to give it a go. Cheers
This is my favourite Indian food in the city. Good flavours, and a slightly elevated version of the classic dishes I love. Highly recommend.
We came to this establishment only because the one we wanted to go to was fully booked. Turned out that Blu Ginger has food that was more refined than our first choice and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.We had momos and pani puri to start followed by a series of delicious curry dishes.Service was good.I recommend this establishment for anyone that is after refined Indian food.
You can’t go wrong with Blu Ginger for Indian food. I’ve tried a few Indian places in Canberra and none of them so far come close to Blu Ginger. The food is delicious, flavorful, and well-priced. I also like that the restaurant is a big open space so it doesn’t feel claustrophobic.Staff is also incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Food was perfect and the service was fast and friendly. We used to eat at Blu Ginger at Milson’s Point 15 years ago and even though this is a different location, the food is just as amazing! Can’t wait to return.
Wonderful food, served on a very vibrant atmosphere. Great table service with an extensive wine selection to compliment the menu. Good location. Easy to find if you are not a local. Definitely book a table, there waz a long queue waiting to get in! I highly recommended this place.
Food was good. Service was average - the table staff seemed indifferent, but the manager was on top of it and kept them focused. Overall a place I recommend.
Excellent lunch time special, good portions and consistent tasty food. Also great for dinner to start a great night out, have been twice now and my partner and I have been satisfied each time
Samade is probably the best hostess in the city! She has a genuine sense of humor, a way of recommending menu items without casting dispersion on other items, and a refreshing honesty that made dining here a fantastic experience. Oh - and the kitchen puts out rocking good food too. Thanks for an extremely enjoyable evening!
Simply the best Indian food I’ve had nearby or in Canberra.Beautiful restaurant that can hold quiet conversation despite being busy. The staff are also fantastic; polite, friendly and professional.I haven’t had a butter chicken as good as this one. every time I visit the food is amazing and great value, they could easily charge more but they don’t.Come here if you haven’t, and even if you have and order something new. You won’t be disappointed.
We went to dinner on Friday night and the place was busy and has nice decor . We ordered chilli chicken for starters it was just tossed in chilli paste and lacked favours. For mains ordered kolapuri chicken and chettinad chicken with some breads better not to say and chicken biryani was just tossed the chicken with saffron rice . The staff was good but food let down this place
This place was recommended by a friend and I’m so glad I got the chance to try it!Made a reservation at 7 and waited about 30mins to get in but it was worth the wait. The food was so delicious, service was quick, drinks were nice, it was just a great experience. If you’re going to Canberra you must try blu ginger
Really nice meal with fantastic flavours and generous portions. Would definitely go there again.
I had been there for lunch today afternoon around 2:44 pm unfortunately, I was not able to have lunch because of Blu Ginger service staff. They said that we already closed. It was really funny because I had double check there operating hours before I been there. In the internet they said till 3PM but the return back customer at 2:44pm ??? I am completely disappointed fom Blu Ginger. I never want to go there and I suggest my friends and relatives as well.
Always great food with very friendly service. We had garlic naan, goat curry, pistachio chicken and a chicken biryani. The food came out within 15-20 minutes which seems like a decent time. They also accept Taste Voucher, so we received 25% off from the entire meal. Also recommend the coconut water, very refreshing in the summer heat.
Why did I not go to blu Ginger (Canberra) before? Real Indian hospitality with Great food (very authentic taste) and fantastic service. A must-go restaurant. The price was worth the taste.
We went there for our serious dinner. Booked ahead, got our table on time. Did not enjoy the hospitality provided, felt not welcomed. Food is not worth the price. Very average Australian Indian food. Not authentic Indian food. May be good for the locals.
The best hyderabadi dum biriyani and butter chicken!
Great Indian food, heaps of variety along with some Indian curry classics.
Good food, slow service. It was a large table and the place was pretty busy, but it took an hour for 1st course and 2 hours for mains to arrive. And it was a banquet.
Disappointed by the service standards. Would never recommend. You order 5 things and they will bring them one by one with a difference of 15 minutes 😐 Money wasted.
Neither the food nor the service is good. Endless wait. The only response you get from the staff is they are busy. As though we are not! Lassis are alright. If you want a restaurant just for good ambience, this might be the place to go, otherwise definitely wont recommend.
Food really nice but the service was average. Took ages to get food and drinks. I understand its a busy Friday night but ehh like everywhere is busy and not everywhere had these service issues.
Loved the goat biryani with complimentary raita.
Had a very enjoyable dinner at Blu Ginger tonight, friendly staff and we didnt wait long for our meal to arrive. Pleasant atmosphere made dining comfortable. The tandoori chicken was excellent. Very satisfied!
The best vindaloo I had in Australia. Ordered extra hot and indeed it was very tasty extra hot.
An extensive collection of Currys, had the lamb Madras. The flavours were complex and balanced. A job well done. The cheese and garlic naan was also good. The saffron rice was too much, cardamom and cloves throughout. Completely unnecessary.Overall a delicious meal.
Overall the experience was amazing ☺️ we enjoyed our meal even though serves were too small and even the staffs were friendly. But went to the washroom after meal,,omg that stinky smell ruined the whole experience.
Express lunch? Was anything but. Meal was good, service very slow. And it was not because it was full.
Good food, reasonably priced and good service. I would go back to this place again.
Best meal Ive had in a while. Went here for a celebration dinner and was so so happy with what I received
Service is great and the food is amazing at Blu Ginger.
This was my 3rd time in “Blu Ginger”, the food was incredible, especially the Nepalese Dumpling MoMos🤤🤤🤤 was so delious and juicy. Although the restaurant was quite busy excellent service and the food came straight away. Would love to visit there again😍😍😍
Excellent menu full of delicious recipes not commonly found in other Indian restaurants.
Best butter chicken weve ever had! Restaurant was packed but attentive staff quickly got us a table. Meals quick to arrive and our child was even given a free colouring pack. Prawn malabar was fabulous! A must visit.
I love the dahl. Good service too.
Very tasty food and great service.
Good food but we waited over an hour for it.
Quiet place to have food with your family and good ambience. Not welcoming staffOrdered Naan, Chicken 65, Desi chicken and Lamb Korma.Lamb Korma came with few pieces of lamb but couldnt finish the lamb so took parcel the rest of it. Luckily the lamb piece i had from the restaurant was lamb but the left over i took home had beef pieces. so the lamb korma was half lamb and half beef. i think the lamb was so costly for them to buy. anyway not going there anymore.Make sure you get what you ordered (every single piece!!!).
The food was absolutely delicious 😋. Not very happy with the service . Had to wait for 1.5 hr for simple dinner. Served with wrong order. Will not go back again and not recommendable.
Great food, really well priced. The banquet is awesome and the service was also great. Will be back for sure.
Great food and service 👍 Really Good ☺️☺️
Lovely dinner tonight. The food was superb and the service was great.
Went to Blu Ginger for mothers day we wait an hour for our food, we also asked for some poppadoms were told that they had run out. we were disappointed with the menu as management must of changed hands as we come here often wont be anymore and on the way out of the restaurant there was a whole bowl of poppadoms thanks for lying to your customers.
Its really not worth the price. Tastes okay and the quantity is too worse and really dissappointing. Very worse and wouldnt dare to go this place again.
Fantastic indian. The naan was divine and overly thick. The biryani was delicious. Vindaloo chicken was spot on. Highly recommend
The food is delicious, the best Indian food I’ve had in Canberra. It’s a bit pricey but I think worth it. The dahls are superb, and there’s a charred eggplant dish that is just fantastic. If you’re eating at the restaurant, the vegetarian entrees are lovely - they are best fresh though, so if you’re getting takeaway be aware that they won’t be at their best when they arrive. Also, if you’re ordering delivery it is quicker (in my experience) and cheaper (by a dollar or two per dish) to order directly from the restaurant rather than using a food delivery app - which I think is fair enough as the apps take a cut from every order they process.Highly recommend, order direct, try the eggplant dish 😁👍
Lovely meal with a wide range of Indian and a few Nepalese dishes. Great service but the toilets were disgusting - seriously need to hold your breath in there.
Good food. The service is okay.Forgetful waiter though.
Disappointed with the service. Used to be really good though. But last night, no even a smile.
Reasonable prices great quality and friendly staff, waiting time between courses, just right
Fabulous food good service. Will be back and recommend. Thanks.
Excellent food and great service
Really good, flavorsome food. Reasonably priced. We got entres and for our mains nans and a couple of curries - chicken and lamb. Our mains did take about 40 minutes to get to the table which was a bit on the longer side. The total was around $90 for 3 people.
Worst service ever. We usually come at this place but this time the staff was very rude, the food was cold they didn’t even warmed up and gave. We wanted to order something else when we were in the mid of having our food, the manager told that they were closed. The staff didn’t ever came on the table to tell their kitchen closing time. Also, when we were ordering the food the staff made their faces and didn’t even smiled. Wont recommend it to anyone. Worst service, worst staff.
Great Indian cuisine. Our party had opted for mild food and whilst the entrees were a bit spicy the mains were fragrant and very tasty. Worth a visit.
Love this excellent Indian cousine restaurant. We have been there few times now and it has never disappointed us.Well cooked curries and an excellnet tandoori selection of meats, seafood and breads. Put that together with a fresh and competent service and there you go. We will definitely be back there.
Really good flavours and selection. Not huge portions, good for sharing.
Food was good except momos. Good service.. Overall great experience
We shared lunch today at Blu Ginger. First time at this restaurant and it was a pleasent experience. Meals prepared to our liking for flavour and spice. We will return for a evening meal in the not to distant future.
Whenever I walk past I just get hungry. One of my favorite places to eat out with friends!
Ive been in Canberra for 3 years and had food frequently here. Always a good experience, with delicious food and exceptional service. Definitely recommend to other diners. Even during the corona pandemic, they are doing their bit by helping out students and others who have lost their jobs. This is an enterprise where community service is above all and theyve showed it in the toughest of times. Kudos to you Blu ginger 💯
Great food at reasonable price. Pleasant and efficient staff.
Delicious Indian food 😊
Really nice food. Served quickly. Recommended
I came here on a recent trip to Canberra with my partner. We ordered the chicken momos, fish curry, and chicken multani. Everything was great. We also had cocktails which were amazing value for money at $12 each - this would normally have cost us around $20 each. As others have noted, the restaurant is very busy but this didn’t deter from our experience as the waiters still brought our food out within a reasonable time. I even managed to flag the waiter down for more rice and they were quick and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend.
The food and service was amazing! Will definitely come back.
Actually i am giving a 3.5 stars. This is our 2nd visit to this place in the last 1 month. Ambience is great. Food is OK+Staff seemed to be inexperienced in terms of taking food orders, suggesting items etc. , but trying their best to provide good service. We tried chicken biryani, lamb biryani on a thursday evening. Having indian background, and being very very familiar with taste and texture of biryani should supposed to be, i can only give a 2 star for their biryani. Clearly, their biryani is prepared using Shan biryani masala.(or similar commercial biryani masala packets available in indian grocery stores). Their biryani is much better than some curry rice but much less than an authentic one.Tasty but bastardised indian food.Over all, a must try once indian restaurant in Canberra.
One of the best service and food quality i have ever seen in Australia. And the taste of food as well as their presentation is unbelievable. Must visit place if you are visiting Canberra with family or friends. And prices are really competitive.
Nice ambience and food
