Below are a series of edited emails between myself the the manager of the Cambridge Boomerangs. I edited it for her privacy and that of other customers. The reason for the photos is otherwise it exceeds the character limit for a review post. The reason for the two versus one star if the gentleman who helped me in the store really did the best he could and I appreciate that.
It a small shop with limited floor space, but worth the effort if you know what youre looking to purchase..and youre helping the AAC..
Always interesting items here, and great prices because all of the profits fund AIDS hospice and meals for affected locals! Forget Goodwill- just another corporate $maker, less than 10% actually goes to community. Bring your items to this little gem for donation, all profits after operating costs are spent locally for this good cause. Plus one whole front window is devoted to silent auction rare items, it is constantly changing- ask inside how to bid!
Wasnt quite what I expected, but the experience was better than I thought. Great prices and selection. I would selfishly give zero stars to keep Boomerang from going to super sonic growth, but their amazing cause makes me stand on a platform to sing their praises! Go to Boomerang and support the mission.
Everytime Im in the area, I always visit here and always walk out with something. They have a variety of options for men, kids, women, home, and theres a vintage rack. They offer A 20% discount for college students on Wednesdays.
Great selection. cool clothes. friendly staff. very affordable.
A really nice thrift store. Not too huge and overwhelming, well organized, lots of cool finds and great prices
I just got myself a brand new with tags LLbean sweater for $18. I love this store I always get lucky and get sweet deals. They are very organized and their prices are very very good. Highly recommend
Lovely staff, lots to choose from, and a great cause!
Favorite thrift store! Prices are unbeatable for the quality and brands. The staff is so friendly and always in a good mood.I also feel very safe going in right now with their covid protocols. Well done!
Small but they got some good stuff
People friendly, would recommend to friends.
One of my favorites, this location, to me, has always felt like the quirkiest of the Boomerang shops. Fun to shop in and usually a quick stop as its a pretty small shop.
I absolutely adore this shop. Things are nicely arranged to encourage browsing and there is always a treasure to be found.
Prices are amazing and the staff are super helpful. I dont see many stores like this around anymore.
Great thrift store with a great cause!
Great thrift store, I always walk out with something amazing. Doc Martens for $10, such a good steal! Sales associates are super nice, especially Beti? or Betty. Not sure how to spell her name. They have a cool $1 rack, and they restock Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
UNPROFESSIONAL AND HOSTILE STAFF AND EVEN MAKES FALSE STATEMENTS TO THE POLICE ABOUT CUSTOMERS OUTBOF RETALIATION FOR FEEDBACK AGAINST THEM THROUGH CORPORATE DIVISION. A CLOSE AND DEAR FRIEND OF MINE WAS SUBJECT TO SUCH FRAUDULENT CLAIMS AGAINST HER BUT RELENT (OUT OF RESPECT COR THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TO STAY AWAY FROM TBEJR STIRE! SHE GLADLY DID SO! (BAD) KARMA COR THEM AT CENTRAL SWUARE LOCATION!!!l.ALSO, THEIR CLOTHING AND SHOES HAVE VERY PPOOR QUALITY AT THIS CAMBRIDGE LOCATION!! THEIR IN IT TO RIP PEOPLE OFF!! LATELY THEIR CLOTHES SELECTION (AND SHOES) ARE LOUSY!
I wish I remember the name of the clerk we worked with, because Id love to shout her out directly, but every part of our experience here was fabulous. Knowing that proceeds go to AIDS research makes the whole process even better. Well be back soon!!
I see a lot of people coming into the store with bins and bags of donations, but the racks generally have the same clothes day after day. The counters dont have very much as well. Very infrequently do I find something worth buying. Used to be a very good store, where finds were frequent. The counters behind the sales staff used to have more costly items, but of very good quality--no longer.
Much smaller store from old digs. A little bit of everything. Better quality than goodwill but less to offer in terms of inventory. Still love Jamaica plain site though.
Boomerang stores always have such awesome stuff. From new floor sample furniture to brand new table linens and clothes. Even their second hand stuff is unique and wonderful! I never walk out of there empty handed. Even if I went in “just to look!” I cannot resist the amazing stock they have on hand and it changes every day! Their window displays alone make it a fun place to visit. Their items in the windows are usually up for silent auction. You note the item number, go into the store counter and ask about the bidding book. You look up the item number and write in your bid. I’ve never won, but even this part is fun!And the staff are very professional, friendly and considerate. They’ll help you carry heavy or large items to your car. The JP store has parking around the back. The West Roxbury store has plenty of street parking available. So, what are you waiting for? Hurry on down to your local Boomerang store and see what wonderful items they have today! If you don’t, you’re going to miss some wonderful bargains!!
Small and can be a bit unorganized at times. The Goodwill across the street has more selection however I usually find something I love here. Highly recommend 👍
You can find some good costumes here. And they separate vintage items. Cool stuff!
Very cool thrift shop with a good variety of stuff and cheap prices. Always worth a stroll
What a great place. Most of the proceeds are issued to support HIV & AIDS research. With so many different people that live in the area, this second hand shop always has some great finds for just about anyone. I have purchased cool books, neat pots for plants, interesting art, a rather newish stone & steel table for outdoor use, belts, bags and more. If I have items to give away, I always give to Boomerangs first. Visit each location the Boston metro area to find the best that others no longer wish to own!
It’s absolutely a pleasure shopping at boomerangs. The people who work there are great and friendly! I found good jewelry and stuff there
Because Boomerangs supports causes I believe in, I donate all my excess goods here. I sometimes find great buys here, mostly on clothing. Other things (dishes / decor) are overpriced. Much nicer than other area thrift stores overall.
Great place to shop local in Central Square. Mix of new stuff and donated used stuff. Inventory is limited though due to store size.
Fantastic and fast-changing selection, and all purchases benefit a good cause. Its a great spot to pick up great quality used furniture (got a tremendous quality, near-flawless mid-century modern dresser for an insane price) and their original vintage/period clothing selection for womens clothing is always huge. Lots of 40s-50s-60s stuff.
I do basically all my shopping here. Also get compliments on everything - I love to tell people how I got this or that at Boomerangs for only $8! Also, if youre looking for style inspiration, just look behind the counter at this place. Those kids are HIP AF.
They had pants in my freakishly tall size, but for $6 each, which is enough of a reason to 5-star for me.
Great place for anything! Staff is super friendlyAnd,Fun and creative spaceSuch a good cause😘🤗
Awesome, well-curated thrift store. Kitschy, artsy goods mixed in with lovely selection of clothing. Not the biggest thrift store, but still a goodie. Also, proceeds go to a very worthy cause.
Love this place if you need close like for work because is a second hand place but you can find great deals. Now i go because i do work construction work so my clos get mess up all the time so to safe a dollar or two that is the place.
Have to dig but there are lovely designer brands and nice clothing here. Reduce Re-use Recycle and reduce your impact by shopping here. And support aids too. Staff are awesome.
The people are so nice and helpful! The store is really well organized too.
You can be lucky and find some great stuff here. Better for furniture and kitchen stuff..
Fun, unique finds at this store. Supports a great cause as well!!💜
Totally awesome great stuff for a good cause highly recommend it
I love this store so much. They have great things
Must visit its a small intimate location and i have bought so many great items at bargain prices here!
They have such a eclectic variety of items at affordable prices. I bought a cute silver dress and red wool hat for respectively $15 and $7.
Requires searching but can find really nice items in good condition for dirt cheap prices
Kind. Helpful. Cool stuff.
Furniture, books, kitchen items, clothing, shoes, oh my! Boomerang is a well-sorted thrift store youre guaranteed to have a pleasant time in.
This place has the best stuff ever!!! Awesome clothes, shoes, housewares, and furniture 🙂
Very tidy and organized (though small) consignment shop, running the gamut from clothes to records/CDs/books to household wares.
Okay for books and the occasional cheap t-shirt, but the location in JP is larger and has way more to offer.
Sometimes you can find real good stuff
I really enjoyed the space, customer service and high quality merchandise.
Small store, well-curated clothing.
Good prices and some cool finds. Got some great espresso cups here.
Sometimes they will have almost nothing good when theyre purging the warehouse of dollar items. Sometimes theyre filled to the brim with beautiful antiques.
Way better quality and organization than a good will, but prices are still quite reasonable.
Giving this place 5 stars because one of their employees, joshua, gave me a 5 star treatment and helped me pick up so many clothes. Its a small store with medium sized but awesome collection for all tastes. Funky or fancy they have it. They even manage to throw in some home goods and a few furnitures. Unlike goodwill, where your dollar goes to pay their ceos $3.7 million compensation, all proceeds at boomerangs go to AIDS research and relief. Its a solid organization that does good work. Please shop here and spread the word.
Great place for used mobile tech, and supports a worthy cause
Great people and a great cause!
Very good prices buy small collection
Low pice with good quality, esp. glassware and womens jeans.
So much to offer! Pleasant workers!
This store really has no selection. In a place this small, I expect the merchandise to be well-curated boutique vintage finds. This place is more like a Goodwill, but smaller and slightly more expensive.
Interesting selection of books and knick knacks.
Nice things to buy.
They raise money for Aids Research. The money from the sales of the donations go to the Aids Foundation. Sometimes you find brand new clothes. Shoes furniture.
Well organized shop. But staff not friendly to new customers
Interesting stuff, but 5/5 times I’ve been there, the staff were unfriendly when asked questions
A limited but well curated mens section.
Small thrift store. Not a lot of mens stuff
Cool stuff there!
We went in to have a nose and possibly buy- and they felt the need to tell us they were closing- no buying then!
Some great finds
Good used stuff
50 cents for shakespeare
Vintage stones 1987 t shirt.
Love this store!!! Great organization!!!
Varied things in good condition and very friendly staff
There are very good second-class things in good condition.
Excellent, good merchandise and professional attention.
