I stumbled upon Backstitch whilst searching for a particular fabric. For some reason, at that time, I couldn’t access the company on line. A helpful and friendly phone call in the morning was made, order placed and within 26 hours the lovely fabric was in my hands. Even Amazon Prime , good as it is, can’t beat that!The Backstitch site is most interesting offering various types of merchandise. I went to their brick and mortar shop for the 1st time last weekend. I am getting into clothes sewing and I was impressed with Jersey fabric selection and bought enough to keep me busy for some time. And price per meter wasnt bad either. There were 2 ladies there which were really nice. Burwash Manor is a beautiful place, looks like there is a lovely guided walk round it(it was raining so couldnt explore), so definitely will go back and will make a day out of it.

Have loved all the fabrics I’ve bought from Backstitch. Good quality and quick delivery in great paper packaging. They stock a good selection of paper patterns that I’ve also taken advantage of. Recently ordered some overlocker threads mid-afternoon only to receive them via Royal Mail mid-morning the next day - happy dance time that day!

I love this shop. All the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Especially Abby! A great selection of fabrics, nice yarn although I think they could be a bit more adventurous: I would love to see a bit more organic and interesting yarn from places like Juniper Moon, Colinette, Eden Cottage and Mrs Moon, expensive but gorgeous. Great thread and nice fat quarter bundles. I am so lucky to live nearby. My granddaughter (age 2) loves it too and likes to choose fabrics with me.

Having taken a chance on the colour given screen colour doesnt reliably match material colour, the fabric was exactly what I wanted. I was veryimpressed impressed with the brown paper packaging. I can reuse the paper, including to help iron out grease stains and ease washing.

We popped in to visit them on their Big Ex-Display Brother Sewing Machine Sale day. The staff were so helpful, friendly and informative despite being so busy with the sale.Their wide range of quality fabrics, accessories and spares was a treasure trove of lovely and practical things. We came away with bundle of gorgeous fabrics, some essential and hard to find extra needles and sewing machine feet and a fantastic Brother Overlocker at a bargain price.We travelled around 40 minutes to get there and it was worth every second of it to visit such a great haberdashery with fantastic staff.

The staff are friendly and willing to entertain the stupid questions of a bloke who is learning to knit.They also seem to have a large and varied supply of all things knitting and sewing
