We decided to come here for lunch and found the whole experience to be not what we hoped for. The atmosphere was quite nice with cozy seating and an open kitchen concept. Even the bathroom was quite nice. The servers were also friendly. The food however, was the reason for loss of stars. My chicken fettuccine alfredo could have definitely used more sauce and the chicken a little more flavour, although it was quite tender. He found the curry prawns ok, but the rice was just a bit undercooked. For a $50 lunch, we had higher expectations. Considering Earls is branded as an upscale restaurant, we were a little disappointed at the quality of their food.
2 Strong suggestions for you:1. When someone orders a lettuce wrap with their burger DONT put the lettuce on the bottom of the container and DONT put the HOT burger on top of it. Why? Bc most people find wilted lettuce unappealing.2. When someone orders a lettuce wrap, give them more than the 2 little pieces of lettuce that usually go inside the burger. What you gave me for a lettuce wrap is the equivalent of giving me 2 fries to wrap my burger in, instead of a bun.
Oh my sweet baby Hey Zeus! What a great experience! We had Trista as our waitress and she was super friendly and attentive. We would have a pop refill in mere Second. When we got our wings for our appy, They were so hot we couldnt even eat them. That means the food does not sit which is great! When we went to order our main entree, we noticed today was Sunday and their special was five dollars off any seafood dish. So I was pondering on getting ravioli with prawns and lobster. I asked Trista about it and she sold me on it, boy was i glad she did! The taste was bang on! And for $5 off the dish cost, it was worth the price. We will definitely be coming back!
Although the steak wasnt very impressive this time around it was a good meal. The waiter was great and overall good experience
My friends and I have been coming every Tuesday after choir for a few years now. It is honestly one of the best Earls in the city. Last night our server was Creed and he gave us top notch customer service 👌 I look forward to going back every week 😀
Ive had both good and bad experiences at earls but for the most part theyre always good and the times that werent they dealt with it in a professional manner. Will continue to go here and for the first time ever in my life I tried a ahi tuna poke bowl off the happy hour menu ($17) . All I have to say is WOW , just , Wow, so much flavor and I left feeling full. Will definitely be back again.
Met my family here for my parents 35th wedding anniversary. My father and I had the same meal (Blackened Chicken). I spent the next two days in hospital violently ill, he had to leave work early (Pilot... Flying out of province....) for the same issue. 3 days of GI hell. Avoid!
I love going to Earls with friends for good food! But this location has been disappointing in terms of quality of service and food. The greeter told my group that we would have to wait an hour to be seated than another person came and got us a table right away. The server could care less about our orders and how the dinner was going.Won’t be coming back to this location!
Delicious food, wonderful service, pleasant surroundings > on the noisey side indoors.
Always great service and food. I have a food allergy and Earls is also on my list of places Ill go out to eat.
Was disappointed that the servers and hostesses are no longer masked unlike so many other restaurants in the area… and the plastic dividers between tables have also all been removed… does the safety of the public and the staff no longer matter here?Otherwise the food and service was great as usual, but won’t be back until the risk of the delta variant has passed when there are other, safer, dining alternatives
Made a reservation for the patio and arrived and was told patio seating was first come first serve - uhm, whats the point of offering patio reservations then? Ordered the calamari, it arrived stuck together and over done. Ordered the 9oz sirloin steak and sushi the steak was so tough I could barely chew it - somehow I really doubt it was a sirloin cut. My dad had the fettuccine and the garlic bread was burnt black. The waitress was nice but pretty unapologetic about it all You used to be able to go to Earls for a very consistent experience when it came to the food but that doesnt seem to be the case anymore.
Very nice place with great choice of dishes. Love it
This place is interesting! I made my rez using OpenTable. I did show up and dined at the reserved time. Instead of confirming my dining for points earning, they canceled my reservation Instead. I found this is an interesting move 🤔. The food is as good as usual but our server keeps asking us if we want our bill as soon as she collected our empty plates. I also find this interesting as one would think asking customers for dessert or coffee or else. We felt being rushed out after eating. This is an absolutely interesting experience.
Worst takeout experience ever. I ordered the peppercorn steak cooked medium. It came with no peppercorn sauce and was burnt to a crisp on the outside, and cooked beyond “well done” on the inside. What they did to that steak is a CRIME. It was dryer than the sands of the Sahara desert and literally tasted like charcoal because it was so burned. Absolutely awful.
I went there with my husband yesterday and we had such an amazing time. food was great and the service was second to none. will be back again for sure.
Had awesome service from Garrett, really enjoyed how friendly the rest of the staff were when running drinks and food to the table. Felt very well taken care of by the entire team and food arrived very promptly!
Horrible! I went here for a bday dinner for 6 (had reservation), they tried to sit us at a table that barley fit 5 (with only 5 place settings) and said 6 people sit there all the time. I made them move us. Cocktails all watered down and tasted like bad ice. How to you mess up sangria? My poke bowl was not good, radishes were dried up, mango was unripe and it generally just didnt taste fresh. No one cared for their food at the table. Not my first bad meal at Earls but will be my last. Earls used to be such a good restaurant. I will only go to Cactus Club now, too bad no location in west Calgary.
We had the best food and drinks as always, chicken and ribs, dynamite roll, lump crab cakes… delicious! All staff so attentive and kind! Extra shout out to manager Grant!
We came here for the happy hour from 11 to 12pm where all the dishes on the brunch menu was $10. We got the chicken and waffles, eggs benedict and other items including the green juice. Our server was very nice and friendly as we had multiple requests including changing a chicken dish because it was a little raw, avocado being too sour and burger being too tough. She accomodated all our requests and offered to redo the dish for us.Overall the meal was pretty good and I would try it again.
Always satisfied with the exceptional service, food quality, friendly faces of staff. Keep up the great work!
I love this restaurant but my las time there I didnt have a good experience. The service was really bad. Sorry 😔
The decor is modern and trendy. The place is clean, and the menu items are what you would expect from Earls. If you’re looking for burgers, steaks, pastas, sandwiches, salads and more similar varieties this will satisfy!!There are other restaurants where the servers are friendlier and provide better service. Overall, though, service is a B- and I think I’m being generous. Reasons being:- She forgot to give us a spoon for the soup, came back with a spoon that was too small- Service was slow- Can’t find her when we need her- Never around to refill watersHonestly though, this happens at other restaurants too.The food is good here. Ordered a salad and the chicken was a bit dry but the rest of the salad was amazing. Overall, the food here is great!Definitely a good place for a dinner.
Earls is always good and food is full flavored. Service is friendly and helpful.
Loved our waiter.. friendly and made sure we were doing OK .. made us laugh ... made our lunch enjoyable 😊
Nice patio with current restrictions, friendly staff and the wait time was not as bad as they thought it would be.Claire did a phenominal job of setting the tone and making my experience amazing when in the restaurant. Great leadership and ongoing development of a new team during another reopening. 👏
Cajun salmon had twice the spices on it than the time I ate it at the Earls on Macleod (which was amazing, hence I ordered it again!). Wayyyyyyyy too much!!! Couldnt taste the fish any longer!Clean washrooms.
Cost was higher and portions are smaller… Still good but maybe cause it was covid?
Food is always consistent and good, price is little high service is usually top notch everyone has a bad.
Went to Earls Dalhousie for my birthday lunch (sadly, they didnt seem to have any birthday perks) and I have not been able to stop thinking about how incredible their food and service was. I cant wait to come back! The spin dip and chicken tenders were both so freakin good. Well done Earls :)
Food is good, service is prompt and personable. Happy hour is a great time to go 3-5 and 9- close.
Our server Creed was friendly and super attentive to our table. The food was pretty good, and we are in and out really fast considering how busy they were.
Nothing special for food. The happy hour is sad.
We ordered dinner for pick up, got the tuna poke and Thai chicken curry bowls and they were delicious! So flavourful, big chunks of veggies, and perfectly cooked rice. The best tuna poke bowl I have had so far. Picking up our order was fast and smooth. Definitely will order again!
Our visit was very pleasant. Staff were very nice and helpful. The food was very good, good portions and not too pricey. However, it did take quite a bit of time for our food to get served. We waited about 20 minutes. The place is very nice and clean. Ill definitely be coming back to try more of their food.
Good food.Exceptional service at that location.
Good food, good service, cool building, cool people.
3:40 in the afternoon on a Tuesday and you should be able to get somebody to come to your table before 15 minutes is up. But I guess not.
Personally had a poor experience here a little while ago. I wanted to go out with my son and my fiancé for dinner one night. I arrived at the restaurant with my son, got seated right away but told the girl that seated us my fiancé would be here shortly. This is where I get unimpressed with the service. After I got sat a server came up with a tray of beer and asked if I ordered a Rhino Lager. I said no I have not, and the server just continued on with her day. So I sat and sat and sat, not a single server came up to even greet me or anything like that. At this point at least 20 minutes has passed by still waiting on a server to even greet me and/or offer me a water even. At this point my son is starting to get impatient and so am I. Finally a server comes up and asks if she can get me anything, I kindly said no and packed up and we left. The service here was terrible, I mean I get it I was waiting on my fiancé but please have the common decency to even offer me a water, or an appy anything like that especially when I have my son with me. Very disappointed in that, especially with the server who had the beer on a tray and could have simply offered to grab me a water. I do love earls, but this experience has put a sour taste in my mouth in regards to the service I have received.
Our waitress was super friendly and very helpful! Sad they got rid of garlic aoli for the yam fries though
One of the best earls in Calgary. Consistently great service and great food and drinks
We celebrated our anniversary dinner at this location in the lounge. I highly recommend the lounge for a more relaxed and chill vibe. The dishes were cooked perfectly to our order. They even feature gluten free calamari which was light and crispy! I would recommend any of their new blackened salmon dishes.
No birthday discount for a 83 year old senior and 170$ for 3 which she also paid for.Food was good but shame on you for gouging a senior.
Amazing staff and excellent food, always a great place to stop in whether for just a drink or for a full meal
I called earlier in the day to place a pickup order for dinner. When I got to Earls later in the evening I was greeted by a staff member and I told her I was there to pick up my order, I told her my name and she went and checked for my order. She came back and told me there was a mix up and whoever took my order over the phone didn’t fully put my order thought so it wasn’t made yet. She apologized and said it would be about 15-20 minutes, and to come back later to pick up the order and apologized some more. She was very nice and I understand things happen and mistakes can be made and it’s not the end of the world. I waited in my car and went back in 20 minutes later, I was then met by the manager (I think she said her name was Claire) and she was very apologetic for what happened and told me the $77 order I had was free of charge. I was very prepared to pay for the meals as I didn’t see what had happened as a big deal, but it was an extremely generous thing for the manager to do and it was very much appreciated. The meal we had was also amazing!!Earls in Dalhousie is always the one I go to, I’ve never had a bad experience or bad meal from their location and I will definitely continue to go back in the future!
Good food good service. Very accomodating for vegans and they have their own menu. Had the salmon subbed the rice for mashed, chicken terryaki bowl and the vegan beyond burger. We also started with the vegan cauliflower bites which were amazing with the vegan dip too. The buffalo sauce was not too spicy so was really enjoyable even though Im not a big spice fan. Bonus points for having a change table in the womans washroom in the handicap stall!
First time with new restrictions. They tried really hard to make everyone comfortable on the patios. Our food was great regardless of getting stuck outside.
People r nice. Food r nice. Was nice
Wow! What a fantastic experience! My husband ordered burgers with yam fries and a calamari portion for supper and I wasnt too excited until I realized the food was from Earls. Packaging was perfect, the food arrived fresh because it was done with fresh ingredients. Portions were big, the burger is huge! I really enjoyed the calamari as well. But the really nice touch was the message they wrote in the bag. We had a really busy, crazy day and this just made us feel like we were at the restaurant being served by their friendly staff. I didnt take pictures of ouf food because I was so hungry. Ill have to order it again!
We ordered for pick up for our Mother’s Day dinner and was pretty disappointed with our order! The Lobster ravioli was over salted and a very small portion for the price, the chicken tenders were over cooked bits of chicken and the cauliflower bites we’re literally 6 to 8 small pcs of Cauliflower. The Kung pow chicken Hunan and bread was the only items that was portioned as expected and tasted fine.We have eaten at Earls many times and are aware of the quality of their food and what their portion size normally looks like. To charge what they charge and provide a subpar meal is such a disappointment and very frustrating! It was our First time ordering takeout from Earls because we try to support restaurants in our community, but this was not a good experience at all!!!
Allie was beyond AMAZING! Please give this girl a raise! She is knowledgable, personable, and super cute!!! Been to hundreds of bars and she is one of the best. Can’t wait to come back and be served by her and only her!!
Usually a good experience from Earls, but this location seems to often miss items on take out. Salad came without dressing once, and I was charged for bacon on an omelette that didn’t have bacon on it.
Excellent service from Bjorn, will definitely be returning
I want to tell you how disappointed i was. Yesterday i decided to try one of your chef kits for the first time. (the rib dinner). i ordered it and picked it up in the afternoon for last nights dinner. Started preparing dinner and opened the kit and there were no potatoes for the warm potato salad (which is half of the meal) . . called to the restaurant and headed back there to pick them up . Waited in line for 10 minutes and another 15 mins while staff appeared to be running around. OK got potatoes, head home to finish making the kit, and then the last step called for sprinkling chives on top of the potato salad.. weird THEY WERE MISSING TOO AND NOT IN THE BOX .maybe next time include all the items a customer is suppose to have to prepare the kitdisappointed that things were missing and i had to run back to the restaurant to get the missing itemsi filled out a feedback comment on the Earls website and never heard anything back
This place never disappoints me. Toffee pudding is my go-to dessert. I went there for it around 11.45 and didnt know the closing time was 12.00. We were told by one of the staff members that the kitchen was closed and was about to leave but Clair helped us get in. She was kind enough to get us table and serve us the dessert and drinks. She was super friendly. She absolutely made my night. Thank you:)
Always a great experience eating here! Our waitress Devona was super sweet and helpful. After a slight hiccup with my food they swiftly fixed the problem and had multiple managers and Devona apologize and assure us that my dinner would be covered. It was incredible. I was not expecting the staff to feel so responsible over a simple mistake, and to pay for my dinner all together was just above and beyond. Thank you to the Earls staff for making mine and my boyfriends anniversary so sweet!Earls will always be our go to restaurant.
Was fun friendly atmosphere with good food and good service
The service and experience here was extremely poor. I have allergies and there have been multiple occasions where they have served me food that does not suit my dietary needs. I have gotten quite sick because of they messed up on an order. We have talked to management and they have done nothing for us other than them saying they will talk to the team. However, these mistakes keep on happening. It is very disappointing how they do not take allergies seriously at this restaurant and keep on serving me food that makes me sick.
Its an earls, jts pretty good
Glad to have gotten the opportunity to go out and have a meal/drinks here after covid shutdowns. Its always consistent and the happy hour menu is unbeatable!Unfortunately, I have not had the attentive service the past few visits that Im used to getting from Earls
Simmer down! We are still here!lol.Home now so I can tell you we had a nice dinner My wife and I, felt safe and felt distanced from the other people. Food was good and also hot.
Amy M was an amazing server. Our entire experience back from the Covid shut down was perfect. We will be back very soon.
Update: After speaking with the general manager, we were offered a replacement meal. He was very professional and accommodating. The food was great, as always, and we had a much better experience this time around.Original post: I did not receive my meal as ordered. The staff was very nonchalant about the error, since they were “having a busy night” and I had to return to pick up the item they missed. I have received much better service from this restaurant in the past, but tonight it was very subpar.
Always a time. Decent food & good drinks
No longer going here. 6 employees to intimidate customers over a mask exemption for a mask which gets taken off after 15 seconds is ridiculous. As a long time customer, over 7 years, my previous visit was hands down the most bizarre encounter I’ve ever had at a Calgary business, even with the current health protocols. Unfortunate because many of the staff are excellent people, but this particular group of young employees got a little over zealous regarding their beliefs and decided to attempt to humiliate us rather than serve us.
My wife and my favorite date night spot ! The happy hour is unreal and the service is always exceptional. We tried brunch last Sunday and it was a hit! Their Rhino brand beer is also some of the best Ive ever had.
Waited at my table for 20 minutes with no hello from anyone before we left
Had the Cajun chicken sandwich. My brioche bun was not burnt, but definitely toasted too long as the corners of this square bun were closer croutons. The chicken itself was really good. Sisters Caesar Salad dressing was really strong, but she said she liked it. She ended up trading half for half of Mothers Santa Fe Salad which was good all around and the trade made the Caesar more tolerable. Would go again, but I wouldnt suggest it as the place to meet or for the group to eat at, there are better options around for me personally.
Just ordered the fried chicken for two with fries via Skip the Dishes and it’s HORRIBLE! First time to order from here and definitely my LAST! It was sooo oily and burnt that we had to place another order at a different restaurant for dinner. So disappointed 😞
One of the best happy hours out there.
Sit and Eat at the bar if you can, customer service is just as great!Visited this location yesterday August 25, 2020. Always go for their happy hour from 9-11pm and we always choose this location because food taste better and the customer service is always amazing. But yesterday wait time was around 20 minutes for me and my boyfriend, but if we sat at the bar we’re seated right away and we can order food there as well! I’m so glad that we chose to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. We had the pleasure of having Shawn & Justin (aka JJ I believe) to be our waiter/bartender. They were both super friendly and always checked up on us despite how busy they were with making drinks for all other tables all night. Food came fast, drinks come right away, probably the best experience I’ve had at any Earls yet! Thank you so much Justin and Shawn! (:
Been here a couple of times recently, the atmosphere is very relaxed and reminiscent of a steakhouse. Staff have been excellent, very attentive to the needs of the diners and always there to offer beverage refills or the next course on time. Food has been excellent every time, and very prompt to the table after ordering. Will dine again!
Great experience, customer service was amazing. The staff communication was perfect, they fixed a mistake before we even had time to notice one of our drinks was wrong. Our server was super friendly. 10/10 would recommend.
Great food and service. Good covid-19 protocols. Staff always so friendly
Came to the restaurant with my 4 friends last Sunday and had an awesome experience! The dining room setup is spacious and well lit, but a little chilly inside. Two of us have dietary restrictions and our server Kenya went above and beyond while looking after us! She was extremely knowledgable when recommending menu items that suited our needs, and suggested some great cocktails. all in all a great time! Many thanks to Kenya for taking such good care of us, will be back again soon!
Different location from my usual spot. This one is in the Dalhousie area. Arrived at noon and we had a table in the bar side in a nice corner at the back. Was quiet for a short while then quickly got packed (considering they were still following protocols). Server was nice and provided our meals. I didnt know their menus are now online which is cool. And if you have apple pay, you can pay straight to a barcode which is even cooler lol. Food was good. I got the better, bigger, burger with fries. My usual at the Earls on Barlow Trail. Burger was great as always but the fries tasted a little burnt. Otherwise it was pretty standard stuff. I highly recommend this place.
The waitress didn’t mention that a lot of items were unavailable so we wasted a lot of time deciding our food since she kept coming back to tell us that what we picked wasn’t available (instead of giving us a heads up from the get-go). She didn’t check with the kitchen or anything, she already knew that they were out of certain items so we felt like she could’ve mentioned it sooner. We ended up settling for whatever they had and the food just wasn’t good and the quality wasn’t there.
We order here weekly for family of six - large orders every time. Last couple of times the quality and freshness has been neglected. Experienced missing items in the past, but on our most recent order not sure if there are new cooks in training, but we were delivered bad tuna sushi, raw pink chicken, and overcooked steak. Called to speak to a manager and was told someone would return my call because they were busy and couldnt deal with our situation at the moment. Didnt end up eating our dinner, had to reorder for another delivery with another restaurant. Manager never returned my call, base on our experience will most likely never order again...too bad cause weve been regulars for quite some time and disappointing to see the lack of quality and service continuing.
Service was really good and well mentained distances between sitting area and food as usual really good and delicious and specially server Allan he was very nice and have positive attitude.
Friendly staff. Sometimes miscommunications from front to kitchen staff but tolerable.
5 stars for service!I had a lovely experience on Aug. 5th. My server Claudia was very friendly to the table, which was a great way to start the service off. Once our appetizers had arrived at the table, I realized I forgot to mention my nut allergy, I know I should always communicate it right away, but that day it just slipped my mind. After Claudia found out, I felt she was taking the allergy seriously and handled the situation very professionally. The MOD Brent had come to the table and yet again I was surprised to the amount of care that was being brought to the situation. I would like to give two thumbs up to both Claudia and Brent for showing me what Earls Dalhousie is all about!
Great food and great drinks.
The staff were great, all wearing masks. I was pleased with how they keep people separated and the plexiglass partitions. As always the food was good but sad that my favourite the chicken brie and fig sandwich is off the menu
The staff was great so was everything else but knowing youre on the UCP restaurant donor list makes me very uncomfortable.Knowing you support a party that says those kids who work in your kitchen dont deserve minimum wage or the front of house staff that truly sell the Earls experience doesnt deserve overtime makes it hard to really enjoy an evening there. I cant fault the staff, hence, 4 stars
Great place and love the food but we have been trying to order out as it’s a little bit safer than dining in. We have had nothing but issues with their online orders so we try to call and they will not answer. We have tried multiple times and they do not pick up the phone. I wouldn’t even mind being put on hold but nothing no answer. I really hope they can fix this!
Classy and respectful. Foods not bad either
I always visit Earls and food is generally good. However we order dishes for five people and ll food was too much salty. Hardly anyone ate. Bad experience this time.
My wife and I had an excellent meal tonight. Received special service from Clair the evening manager. Grant Rauser the General Manager has always been kind, courteous and professional. Highly recommend this Earl’s for excellent food and service.
