I feel so thankful to have found Dr. Doig! He really is just amazing as an optometrist, thoughtful, thorough, makes himself 100% available. He went so far as to phone me in Texas to discuss an eye problem I developed while there. Who else would do this!! He’s gentle and trust inspiring. Just a jewel!

I cannot say enough about Dr. Russell Doig and the detail he goes into in order to allow me to understand my eye health. I have never had an optometrist that spends as much time as he does to explain your situation, show you what is happening with your eyes and finding healthy solutions, including discussing dietary changes that can help. Broke my glasses 6 months ago. Put off getting this remedied due to Covid 19 closures/lockdowns. Found Doig Optometry by looking for optometrists in my area. Impressed by the mission statement on the website and that a past employees review of Dr Doig on Indeed was very positive. There were 2 sales posted on the main page. One was Everyone loves a second pair sale- 50% off the second set of lenses and 30% off the second set of frames (ask for details) no expiry date listed. The other was a limited time offer Buy 1 pair of Single Vision or Progressive eyeglass lenses from the Persona Family of premium prescriptions get the second free, (purchase of 2 sets of frames required) but this was valid Feb 1-May 31, 2021 and had expired.Called and was able to make an appointment same day. Eyes were scanned for disease and photos taken by staff which I have never had done before and found interesting to look at. Dr Doig then reviewed the results and did my eye exam. He was thorough, patient and explained exactly what he found in an easily understandable way.I was surprised to have astigmatism diagnosed in only 1 eye now as the last optometrist I had seen 10 years ago said I now had this in both eyes not just in one. I had had constant issues with not seeing as clearly as I would like and headaches with my last Rx but put it down to never having progressive lenses before. If I was wrongly diagnosed then and given an incorrect Rx it would explain alot of my issues.I do know that I was very pleased with the outcome of the new exam and when he found the correct lens for each eye it was truly awesome to actually see the letters which up til then were just a blur of shapes I guessed at. I thought I was coping well without my glasses but being able to see clearly again was sobering and exhilarating at the same time.Dr Doig did not push me to try contacts like the last optometrist did either. When I said I did not want them he did not push the issue like the other one did. I felt like Dr Doig cared more about what I needed and wanted to take care of my vision and not just to make money on disposable contact sales over glasses. I will be going back as needed for my eye care and feel like I can trust my vision to Dr Doig.The reason I am not giving 5 stars to this review is that when looking at purchasing my new glasses right away, and wanting to get 2 pairs, I asked the lady if there were any specials and was told no, but there was a rack of frames on sale. My Rx is a bit complicated as the one eye with astigmatism is much worse than the other and the lens is much thicker. I was then given 3 prices for the 1.6 thinner progressive lenses - $410 for freeform, $646 for enhanced free form and $820 for as worn free form and non designer frames around $200. I would like the enhanced ones but $846+tax for one pair is a bit out of my league and 2 pairs would be impossible. I said I would like to check other places as I did want 2 pairs but the cost was too much. She quickly conferred with a colleague and said I could get the second pair of lenses for 50% off. Unfortunately $1400+ is still out of range for my budget but if I cant find better pricing for comparable lenses elsewhere I will go back to buy them there. There is a cute set of frames that caught my eye 🙂I presume the Everyone loves.. sale posted on the website also expired and may have only been for single vision or perhaps the lower quality free form lenses not the higher quality ones and I am concerned that the price quoted for the better lenses would not be honored by the Persona dealer as the sale posted on the website was expired. It would be helpful if Doig Optometry updated their website in this regard.At any rate, if you want a great optometrist who really seems to care about your eyes Dr Russell Doig your guy. If you want single vision or lower end progressive lenses or have a bigger budget than I do for the better ones, Doig Optometry may be your place.

Dr. Doig did an amazing job fine-tuning my prescription. Before finding his office, I always had some depth perception problems with my glasses, with prescriptions from a number of different doctors. With the prescription and glasses I got from his office, I no longer have those issues, and fewer headaches too. Highly recommend his office for attentive and detailed care.

What a great Optometry office! The minute you walk in the door you are greeted with fun friendly people. Dr Doig is a true professional. This is the first time I can actually see properly with my new specs. He asked the right questions and knew exactly what I needed for my prescription. Before you meet Dr Russell Doig you will be welcomed by his super friendly and very helpful staff members Joanne and Brittany who are wizards at helping you fine just the right pair of glasses . Dr Doig is extremely thorough during his exam and takes the time to talk and listen to you. I have had an eye infection for many years and he saw me everyday until he found the correct combination of meds to get this under control I have not had a flare up for months!! I have wore glasses for years and have away picked the lowest costing lenses but this time I picked the most expensive lenses and it makes a very big difference I am totally amazed I highly recommend Doig Optomety

Both Dr. Doig and all of his staff members did a great job. All were professional and kind. My prescription came out very sharp and with very little eye strain and the fit of the new glasses was excellent thanks to the extra effort they put in.I dont normally enjoy going for an eye exam, or any exam, but I can safely say that I did enjoy my experience with them.

Although Doig Optometry is relatively new, Dr Doig and his staff are very experienced. I personally have been seeing Dr Doig since about 1998. Prior to cataract surgery about 5 years ago, my vision was -13.5 in the left eye and -12.5 in the right. I also had very high astigmatism. Dr Doig was a master of getting me the perfect contact lenses with outstanding vision and comfort. If you need contact lenses, he will get you the best results youve ever had.Since my cataract surgery, my vision is vastly improved. To the point where I dont need glasses or contacts for much of my daily activities. Dr Doig was responsible for referring me to one of the best surgeons around who was able to fit me in promptly.You will find Dr Doig extremely personable with a level of expertise beyond compare. He takes the time to get you into a product that best suits your needs, while explaining every detail along the way.If you want to find an eye care professional for contact lenses or glasses, Dr Doig and his team are the very best! I couldnt imagine ever seeing any one else.

I have been wearing glasses for 13 years. I always went to the Walmart vision center. However this place was close to where i was living last year so I decided to give it a shot. That, and they were very nice to me on the phone. The other places I called were no where near as friendly. I was amazed at how welcoming the staff were, as well as how thorough the exam was. Dr. Doig does a great job and genuinely cares about his penitents and whats to know what is going on in their lives. I think this is very valuable as it makes you feel like a person and not just another chart. I would 100% recommend going here.

I took my 7 month old son to see Dr. Doig for his first eye exam. Dr. Doig got me in right on time and was engaging during the exam. He was very thorough and answered all my questions about children and eye development. Its clear he is up to date with current research and really cares about others. I highly recommend him. Moved to Calgary and was in that awkward position of finding all new professionals for our families needs. Ecstatic when I was introduced to Dr. Doig and his friendly, knowledgeable team!! The amount of care and concern for getting it right, was evident by the amount of detail Dr. Doig expended during my initial exam. It clearly was not about fitting me into a quick time slot, but to do whatever it took to address my specific needs. Also great with small children as he recently took on my 8 mth old grandson as a new patient. Cant say enough good about this place. Keep up the great work !!

Dr. Doig is a knowledgeable and capable optometrist. Hes very willing to take the time to fully evaluate everything concerned with your eyes and then explain his findings. The rest of the staff are friendly and accommodating too!
