Such an interesting place to visit, lots of interesting things on display, and so much history to learn about. The permanent collections are quite good, but I also really enjoy the exhibits which change, as they it freshen things up. I recently learned about the extensive collections this museum actually holds, and I hope with the new place that they rotate more, as it’s really good to learn more about our history in Alberta, Canada, and the world.

Amazing art history museum! Beautiful exhibits highlighting deffoerent art mediums like pencil, paint and sculpture. Great inclusion of inuit and indigenous artists and culture. I especially loved the Mankind exhibit and the pencil art exhibit. Definitely worth a visit if youre in town and in mood to see some astounding art. Although, there is currently a huge renovation going on where the 3rd and 4th floors are closed, maybe even for while. Also, they need ticket reservations online with certain time slots.

Spacious enough for social distancing in this pandemic. Enjoyed exploring all the floors from first floor to the 4th. Lots of interesting arts, cultural and historical collections. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s good to see security guards too.

We spent a good 4 hours here, it is packed with interesting exhibitions and gives a really good insight into First Nation culture and history. Also a good history of Canadian railways which were so important to the development of the country. Highly recommended.

Great gallery and museum. Appropriately curated for Calgary. We wanted to see it before it closes down for three years. Excited to see what it will look like 3 years from now!

An excellent art/culture museum in downtown Calgary, it displays both canadian art and history from an Albertan perspective. A good proportion of the museum is devoted to the history of the west from a non European perspective, covering First Nations and Metis perspectives. Overall the museum has a diverse selection of articles of interest, its definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Calgary. Even mid pandemic.

The best museum Ive been to. Some of the stands are interactive. Great source of inspiration.Seems somewhat modest when you come in but the moment I spoke to the receptionist I knew this was gonna be good. Very kind people willing to help you, guide you and, if you go on your own you dont miss a thing since everything is very intuitive.Highly recommended both as a personal experience as well as a group visit

We went on the last day it was open before the renovations started. The only floor open was the art displays. Interesting but not what I was expecting.

The last time I visited Glenbow was c.10 years ago, and at that time the temporary exhibitions didnt have much appeal. The permanent collections/displays were fine, for example, the First Nations Peoples Gallery---but generally the other shows were missable. I found myself bored, and wanting to leave.

The best museum this city has to offer, been going here since I was just a young lad. Great place to get your learn on about our history.

The Glenbow is a treasure trove of information. From local history to travelling international exhibits, there is some things for nearly anyone. Art, style and colourful characters are all around for your perusal. Displays change regularly and many are limited engagements, so you can go fairly often and still see new things. It is good for people of all ages to enjoy.

Was ok. Bare in mind its closing for renovation. Art on display was 50/50. Not an incredible collection but some interesting local stuff.

The free night at the Glenbow museum granted me the opportunity to really grasp the incalculable loss of so much Indigenous history.But it was new found knowledge of the truly atrocious loss of hundreds of thousands of indigenous lives in North America that truly opened my eyes and heart.So much death and terrorism of indigenous people who only wished to be helpful to the indifferent and arrogant settlers.The same sentiment that flows through many of the white Canadian people today. The perpetuating lack of compassion and respect for those whos only sin was to be welcoming to the Napikowann.

Visited during their First Thursday of the Month free admission and it was really crowded but worth the visit! They have four floors with lots of exhibits like Calgary history, pre-historic time, Minerals, artifacts, collections and contemporary arts. It’s a good place to visit if you’re in Stephen Avenue area so you could get a little history about the city👌

Beautiful and peaceful place to spend an afternoon. Exhibits are displayed neatly and effectively. The staff members are warm and friendly upon arrival. I have spent a lot of time here from a child going on field trips, to being an adult and going by myself. There’s always something new to learn!

It was a lovely day with limited time in Calgary so we only properly saw two floors but this is a class museum, full of local and regional history, well worth a visit but go on a rainy day!

Always a treat and a fun experience to go to Glenbow. A wide variety of both Canadian and international exhibits makes the visit applicable to anyone, and will really make you pass the time without knowing. There’s a lot to see and learn, and it’s nice to see a lot of people really engaged with different artifacts and artworks. Worth the money and your time, and the free first Thursdays of each month is a snag.

The Genbow is and always has been an excellent museum. It is not huge but they do a great job with the space. There is always a visiting exhibit. Hands on exhibits and the regular exhibits. I had not been for a while and they really upgraded several of the exhibits. I also find that the price is very reasonable for a museum of this type. Definitely worth a visit.

A great museum in the heart of Calgary Downtown. 4 levels of different exhibits. I really loved the exhibit about Calgarys history: worth your time to learn about how this great city developed!There was also a kids zone (I did not go in there but looked very busy and popular).

Went to see the Dior exhibit. It was great. Enjoyed the mineral display as well. Recent Acquisitions was charmingly eclectic.

The depth of the material that the museum has to offer is stunning. The first level is dedicated to the travelling /temporary exhibits and they are always a nice addition and make it a must-visit throughout the year. The fact that the Glenbow can curate rotating and interesting exhibits is a big draw. However the remaining floors have been left untouched for many years and while they make a great draw for tourists, as a local I do not usually venture into these areas anymore which is a shame as this museum occupies a great space. Freshening up some of the older areas would go a long way in increasing the appeal of the Glenbow to Calgarians.

Wonderful museum with always lots of exhibits to look around. I think it is because of a sponsor but every first Thursday of the month is free entry for everybody to have a look around the museum. As a student, this is a blessing.I was fortunate enough to look at the exhibit on the indigenous community of Canada (Alberta to be specific) named Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life. It was a beautiful exhibit and well put together too.

A museum and art gallery mixed into one is how I would define Glenbow. It consists of 4 floors with different exhibits and space. There are areas for kids to go discover as well. There isnt anything nature based besides the rocks/minerals exhibit. There are great exhibits on aboriginals and also good exhibits displaying the oil side of how Calgary came to be + railroad story (although missing parts of history). Everything is well spaced and described. A nice place to visit for a generalistic view on things.

Great temporary exhibitions, photos in this review are of Dior. The Mavericks & Blackfoot permanent exhibitions are a must if youre in the city for the first time and want to learn more about Calgary and Alberta. Nice theater as well, where events such as wordfest are hosted. First Thursdays of the month are free admission after 5 pm

Great museum in downtown calgary! Such diverse exhibits! Worth the trip! The museum also has lockers if you dont want to carry all your things while you walk through; bring a quarter.

This is one of the greatest museums Ive ever been to. The amount of care that goes into every exhibition really shows in the details and layout of each floor. During my particular visit, I saw a Minerals of the World, Self Portrait, Cosmos and History of Alberta exhibits that were very informative, detailed and fun to go through. I dont know how many of the exhibits are permanent, but I will definitely be coming back to Glenbow the next time Im in Calgary.

Easy to access, not very busy, feel relaxed.

Amazing collection. The African gallery and Alberta gallery stood out for me. Lots of artifacts and handicrafts from around the world. There is a tapestry type of artwork that tells an interesting story of the oil industry. Lots of other good stuff for history, art, and polictical buffs. I noticed a lot of activities for children also.

A very attractive Museum. They total have 4 floors. Each floor has a different theme. Overall show the history of Alberta and its resources. They will have different events or display going on. Make sure before you go check their website to see if they have something new exhibition.

Only the 2nd floor was open as they are making renovations to other floors. Cant wait for other floors to be done.

Visit about 4 times a year, always a pleasant experience. On school trips the guides are great story tellers and know how to keep the interest of the children. The Frida Kahlo exhibit was an added bonus on Chevron sponsored free admission day!

We were lucky as when we got to the museum they told us it was free for everyone! We thought it would be crowded, but it was not. There were plenty of people but did not feel uncomfortable, there was plenty of room for everyone to move around and look at the exhibitions. Warriors is one of our favorite exhibits. I have seen lots of armors before, but did not know how they made them, here we learned so much! Also the mineral exhibit is amazing, worthwhile visiting, kids loved it. Visiting the museum takes time, we could not see all of it, but are planning a second visit. This is a great museum!

The most engaging, creative exhibits ever! A very lively, fun way to tell Albertas story. Helpful, knowledge personnel. Parking is an expensive, challenging proposition for those not familiar with downtown Calgary.

Impressive museum in downtown Calgary, with 4 floors of beautiful history and arts! You can learn about the history of Calgary and Alberta, and the Blackfoot people and their culture as well. There are also temporary exhibits, with Christian Dior on display at one of the exhibits right now.Their weekday hours don’t accommodate people with regular working hours but if you catch their free entrance+extended hours 5-9pm every first Thursday of the month, it makes for a great date night, or even with family or friends. Just be prepared that the museum is packed during those times and the lines may be long for bag check as you *must* check in all large backpacks.

We went to Glenbow on Community Day and had free admission. We like the mineralogy exhibit the best. The Dior exhibit was cool, but underwhelming.

I cant say I love it or hate it as most of it was closed to renos. The stuff I did see I enjoyed.

This museum is massive. I was surprised to discover it is even larger than the one in Vancouver. Despite not being able to see the DIOR exhibit due to the long lineup it was still very enjoyable. Nice that there’s a free night as well. Will return for sure.

Went to the free first Thursday of the month event. Loved it. Havent been in years. The cosmos exhibit was fabulous! Such an amazing opportunity to be able to see all the artists with no cost.

Went here for a date night last week while they were doing their free entry promotion. So sad to hear about the renovation and the old exhibits getting demolished but exciting to see what’s new in store! Been going here since I was a child and still love it every single time. I love that there’s always new exhibits to see, it feels like a new experience every time. Will never stop coming here. Also, always opportunities for free entry! It’s free every first Thursday of the month which is amazing!

I didnt stay long, but will be back with my partner, she loves the culture of the Native American peoples.Good African display and excellent gem and mineral display which I skimmed over as if was crowded with a (school) visit.

This museum was so much fun to explore! The art museum has an interesting (though small) collection; what really blew me away though was the history level -- visually engaging, and the layout was such that you really benefit just from exploring around, with unexpected rooms, exhibits and activities around every seemingly nondescript corner.

A beautiful museum full of history and cool exhibits! Very impressive and multiple floors to spread out. First Thursday of every month is free for anyone to visit and is a must do for all! Perfect for date night and hours are extended that night. Special traveling exhibits often and amazing local history as well. Hands on for some of it and some are look only but all cool! I loved the mineral exhibit on the top floor. So cool! Parking downtown is always a nightmare trying to find free on the street so I recommend paying the 5 dollars for indoor parking across the road after 5:30 on the free night. Parking on the street is free after 5:30 but can cost more in gas driving in circles to find a space. Friendly people and staff is great!

Very interesting museum mainly about Calgary/Canadas history.

My wife and I came to see the Frida exhibit and it was amazing, were so glad we went!The rest of the museum was (as usual) great and chalk full of unique history (Canadian, Albertan, Native, British and so much more).If youve never been please treat yourself and go. If you havent been lately remember they frequently change exhibits, and Frida is a limited run!!

There were artistic activities to involve the kids when we went there during the day. We coloured doilies that became part is this dress. The exhibits are really interesting. We have really enjoyed our visits to this museum.
