The food is good but a little on the salty side, and the customer service and attention to detail is lacking. I ordered for delivery and was sent the wrong item, and the time before that, I was missing the same item completely. They made no attempt to make it right. The food also takes a long time to arrive. It took an hour and a half to get it and we live in the neighborhood.
Extremely friendly staff. You can tell the owner is deeply passionate about his restaurant and the food it creates and serves.The food itself was all excellent. Some of it is more traditional, but many menu items are unique takes on Indian food. The menu itself is playful and fun.Everyone at my table loved their meals.Im looking forward to eating here again soon!

Happened to be in Kensington this evening and saw this place called Indie. We went inside and was immediately impressed. Love the decor, the vibe, the music!!The food was amazing! The girl taking the order, also amazing!! Will definitely be a repeat customer. Cant wait to go back.
Our foodie friends told us about this place and we love it. We have ordered in several times and yesterday we enjoyed eating on their patio. They have the best butter chicken I have had outside of India. It has a depth of flavours and complexity like no other! The chicken pizza is delicious. Wonderful food, great service. Will be craving, and visiting this little place regularly.
I finally gave Indie Counter Culture a try today and it was delicious! I only tried the cheese naan today but it was super flavourful and cheesy. I will definitely return to try more dishes! The staff were super friendly.
This is one of my new favourite places in Calgary to get great food. Such a cool and interesting mostly take out place in the thick of things on Kensington Rd. This past Friday I stopped in again and asked Adrian to pick for me “four things I could not get anywhere else I’m Calgary”. He rose to the challenge and within 30 minutes we were enjoying amazing food that I am quite sure is unique to this establishment. I am so impressed with not only the exceptional food choices but also the welcome and good energy I feel whenever I stop in to order. I give it my highest possible recommendation.
We ordered the Pizza and the Blunt wrap.Unfortunately we didnt have long before we had to hit the road and the pizza took quite a bit longer than expected and thats the only reason for a 4 star.. The staff offered to reimburse us because of the wait, we didnt accept it as it would not have been fair.The Pizza was absolutely DELICIOUS so much so that I shared it with my husband and he saved his wrap for the next day!Get the PIZZA!

Fantastic experience. The food is great (we had a wide sampling of dishes too - nothing dissappointed), service is excellent, and the value is fantastic. I was really impressed at home much delicious food we got for these prices. Highly recommend this place. My family and I will definitely be back - everyone left happy last night.
This is not the ordinary Indian food restaurant: this is THE THING! The curry are awesome. The butter chicken is as awesome as the curry. The butter chicken poutine is…as my native language is French, I tried to find a word to describe it but it seems that it doesn’t exist as I write the review. Brief, it’s way way more than awesome. The 5 persons in my family are real Indian food lovers and we all agreed that this is the best Indian restaurant we’ve been so far on this Planet.
If you love hearty soulful fare, eat anything and everything here. So many great dishes and its ALL good. Enjoy!!

Came in with a small group for our first time there. Enjoyed delicious appies on the deck and then tried to find room for our lovely meal. Staff and owner were great with questions and very friendly. We are definitely coming back!
Was a bit unsure at first to try as a lot of places like this mess up the flavors, but Indie did NOT disappoint! The atmosphere was great, played Indie music to complete the vibe, and the food was delicious! The staff was above and beyond, and we did not find one fault with the food. The food isnt exactly like the street food you get in India, but I guess thats the point. One thing is that the indoor seating is a little lacking, but there is an outdoor section. Will visit frequently!

The most fun and interesting take on Indian street food in Calgary - in my opinion! Everything Ive tried is excellent. I especially enjoy the extra touches like mint sauce. Keep it up, its a great addition to the neighbourhood.
Very poor food quality, Naans were not cooked properly. Mentals or the Daal we ordered was not north indian type. The paneer option called Butter Cheese Face had tomato catchup in the taste couldn’t eat more than one piece of naan along with the food. Would not recommend to north indian people.Thanks.
Whenever Im in kensington stopping at indie counterculture is a must! The food is always spectacular and you can tell the owner is very passionate in his buisness and the food he serves his customers.

I find everything inedible here. Which is shocking because everything sounds and looks so good in the photos and everything. Every time I order food it’s so salty??? I get it that they are doing a fusion but it’s not really well done. I have never been to this restaurant and only ordered from UberEats...not sure if the travel is impacting the taste. Do not recommend the food here.
Great staff. Extremely helpful and professional. The place is also very clean and hygienic. However, the food is not authentic Indian and sadly not very nice. That being said I have not been here a lot so I have not tried most of the stuff. Would not recommend if you like authentic Indian food.
The food was awesome. The Rogan Josh is the best I have ever had, and the butter chicken was world class.
We live on the other side of the world in Walden and will make a trip specially to indie. The food is absolutely incredible and always consistently good. Rob is one of the nicest people you could meet. It is 100% worth the trip and I will happily make the trek there to support an amazing local business.

On my first day in Calgary I discovered this gem and will not be eating anywhere else for the rest of my visit. It is a casual dining experience that tops most formal Indian restaurants that are much more expensive. Their dal is transcendent.

Delicious “new style” Indian food. This place has all the classics you would expect and a modern twist on some specific dishes as well. Naan comes in huge portions and is delicious! We always get one for each person, which is way too much, but it’s so good we heat it up the next day and devour it as if it were fresh. Overall, would highly recommend.

I’m so impressed with the quality, portion size and pricing. I’ve tried several dishes so far and loved them all (my favourite is the pakora, though - I don’t like to share this one!). 14/10 would recommend!

We ordered Puri Bhaji and Vada Pav. The taste was good, not typical Indian type but different good taste. They put pakora(fitter) in Vada Pav, not the Vada which makes it different. Bhaji taste was blend and Puri was good made of wheat, not of maida(all-purpose wheat). Puri was also not oily which is a good part.
The people were lovely, the food was okay, but we waited over 30 minutes (walked in and placed an order at the shop). For what was advertised as street food, it sure took a long time to make a couple sandwiches....It was also quite expensive. The sandwich below was $15 and was literally on a hotdog bun.
It is Covid time and we’ve enjoyed takeout from this local Kensington (Calgary) restaurant a number of times. They pack a ton of flavor into their dishes. Especially enjoyed the lamb, daal and cauliflower. Fantastic discovery for us!

This place is incredible. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the place has a great atmosphere, and the food was honestly incredible. It’s the kind of local place you really want to support.PS - the portions are much bigger than you expect - easily two meals for one of the curries.
I just had Indian Vada Pav (spud) here. However, it’s not there in SkipTheDishes menu somehow. So I had to go personally to order and pickup. Hopefully they will update their menu in STD. Spud was delicious. I have had Vada Pav all my life in the city of Mumbai but this place really stood out in the taste and service. It’s the first of its kind in Calgary. Usually I get North Indian food everywhere but a speciality of Maharashtra, a western province of India, is a rare gem. Hope you guys try other cuisines in their beautifully designed restaurant and spacious patio at the back. It’s a brand new one and I wish them to succeed here. All the best!
Got this for takeout recently, it was delicious!! Such unique flavour combinations. Loved the poutine with hot chicks, but the OG was the best thing we ordered - such amazing flavour, I am salivating just thinking of it. The spud trio sliders were also really good and had a nice kick to them. The butter chicken was just okay compared to other places but would absolutely order everything else again!

We ordered angry rogan which is goat curry and mad cow which is 3 beef sliders with 3 small bun with an egg.... very good taste.. tandoori roti is also good..we love it.In second visit we had indie remix...which is chicken biryani ..it was very good..just little oil much
This place is awesome, great food, reasonable price and no small bs sized portions. Service is also amazing. Only complaint is that some of my rice was a little crunchy but it actually worked out well with the meal. I dunno if they did that on purpose.

We had an amazing treat at indie counter culture tonight. Thanks Rob and indie team for delicious bo-naan-zaa. Never had a pizza like this. It’s rich in taste, flavours and I quantity is great as well.This was our second visit, we had also loved the Rohan josh that we’ve tried earlier. Very authentic and amazing flavours.We will definitely recommend indie to our friends and be regulars.P.S. our baby girl enjoyed the frooti treat with pakoras 😃

This is definitely a new go to spot when looking for some well-executed, solid street food thats just overall well executed and satisfies those cravings. We got the papri chaat, cheese naan and the fish pakora! All were delicious. Fairly priced imo as well.

Had the Indie Remix and it was to DIE for, so was the vindaloo, and the Pakora fluffy and soft.As someone who is Gluten Free this was perfect!
We tried this place for the first time tonight. My wife and I were blown away. Not only is the food extremely delicious, but we felt the value was really good (we spent about $30 and have leftovers for tomorrow). Another plus was the number of vegetarian options on the menu. And to top it off, when I went to pick the food up, the owner who helped me was a really nice guy. 10/10 would highly recommend.
We checked these guys out this afternoon for a late lunch and were absolutely blown away. Not only is the menu unique and fun - the food was phenomenal and the service was friendly and quick. I will go back at every opportunity!
My experience was the complete opposite of other reviewers. Upon informing the man at the front I had ordered take out, he immediately assumed that I was Arita or something along those lines because of the colour of my skin. I did not appreciate being racially judged. He could have simply asked me the name of the order rather than treating me differently.However, the restaurant seemed very busy, so I was hopeful that the food would be good. During the wait along with other customers, I noticed that the employees were disorganized; it seemed they were unaware of where their orders were in the workflow. This explained why they were behind on orders.We ordered 3 appetizers and all were overly salted and favoured heavily with ginger. The main dish was also a disappointment. They forgot to pack our naans. We ordered pizza because we were starving.Earlier when I was waiting a customer was chased on the street by an employee who realized they forgot his naan. This gives the impression that forgetting items is not a one-time occurrence because it happened twice within 10 minutes.Although the restaurant looks very appealing, I will not recommend this place to my family or friends.
So I have never physically been... but these guys have been my quarantine staple. It is so good literally everything to die for!! Can’t wait to come visit one day in Kensington. Keep up the great work it’s delicious.

Oh. My. God. The food here is literally insane, be careful though, its crazy filling (especially the poutine, which I highly recommend). The staff are lovely as well, I cant go in without having an awesome conversation with the wonderful people who work here. Definitely recommend!

Never Fails to Impress me! I usually order the eruption combo because the portion is perfect. the butterface is a perfect butter chicken with tender, fall apart in your mouth, pieces of chicken, the sauce has a beautiful creamy and perfectly seasoned tomato sauce. the mentals are the best lentils Ive ever had, so much flavour and just the right texture and consistency. the White out was so good, the cauliflower and potato are just infused in the curry sauce, the sauce itself had a decadent melted onion, garlic, and chili flavour. the Naan is mind blowing just on its own, the garlic naan has whole chunks of semi-raw garlic and I am living for it. No matter how hard I try, I just cant get my home cooking to come out exactly the same, they add a certain Je ne Sais pas to classic Indian street staples 😙👌

The food was great with amazing quality and quantity. A modern take on indian dishes from starters to mains, everything was top notch. We went as a group and tried Bonanazaa, Slumdog, mango lassi and jammin brownie, LOVED IT!! I would recommend this place to all who likes to try modern take on indian food. Everyone has to try JAMMIN BROWNIE!! to end the day with a dessert.
Curry was very good. Goat curry fell off the bone and with amazing flavour that is spicy but not overpowering. Portions were large and staff was amazing. Only complaint is that the rice was quite hard but it was the end of the day, used the naan instead and loved every bite.
Very satisfying. Quick service. A good amount of veggie options. I had the combo with two veggie choices - chana masala and okra (they also add a bit of daal to each combo). Delicious!

Really really delicious! We ordered the OG Chaat and the Gump. The star was definitely the Gump!!The Chaat was good but needs a bit more chaat seasoning & tamarind, but if youre looking for something bright and fresh, its definitely really good!But omg that Gump was everything, please go and order this, its divine!Also the dine in experience is great, really clean and beautiful space. I really appreciated the whatever just wash your hands! Inclusive bathroom signage! Bravo

A must-visit for foodies!Indie Counterculture exceeded all of our foodie expectations. They took all the Indian flavours we know and love and turned them into delightfully unique dishes — and wow, did they ever execute this perfectly! I came here with my mom to catch up, but all we talked about was how tasty the food was. We got three large dishes and drinks for only $45 with plenty of leftovers. Seriously, you have to try this place!Ps: they also have a wonderful patio and some more traditional dishes (if you are feeling less adventurous)A perfect addition to Calgary’s food scene!

I am so thankful this place opened up in my neighborhood. Their Indian food is incredible. Hands down the best aloo gobi and pakoras Ive ever had. I didnt even think I liked pakoras prior to trying them at indie counterculture. Ill be back for sure!
If I could give this place more stars, I would. The food is INCREDIBLE and the staff are all so friendly and accommodating. I love their whole brand identity, too. I already want more and I just finished my meal.
Pretty good selection for Indian food! Make sure you go off of the online ordering menu, not the printed menu as there are items that arent being sold there. The gluten free selection is great! We tried the eruption 2 item which was enough food for two if you want to go for dessert afterwards. The prices are very affordable, we will definitely be back.
Sadly I have to update my review for this. They recently removed the 10$ Crater option from the menu, and it was the only item which seemed like a reasonable price point for value. Myself and my roommate used to go here a few times a week, however I dont think we will be coming back anytime soon. Hopefully they bring it back!

We came here for pick up after a long day and were starving. We got the OG (legitimately the best thing ever, make sure you try it!), the chickpea curry, lentil curry, a beef Curry, and rice and were astounded by the flavours! The people who run this place are ultra nice and friendly and the space looks super clean. Well for sure be coming back!
