The most beautiful place I have ever seen. It’s so peaceful here, full of flowers, full of beautiful people.The feeling was amazing and it’s totally worth it to climb all those stairs.You could stay in the garden all day and not get bored.10/10 I recommend to visit it if you have the chance.

No doubt its a beautiful place, but was surprised its only 30 or so years old.Seems a lot of oppulance considering you drive through streets of people who struggle to make a penny as we all do.Didnt go in the gift shop selling all things god but noted it was the only shop in Romania I encountered where face masks not required by staff or customers! (Aug 21) perhaps they have divine protection.In the car park the nuns are making nice placinta! Great place to visit and relax with your family and friends. The church is old and rustic and the surrounding area is very well kept with a relaxing vibe. Unfortunately, due to Covid regulations we could not visit the churches tower, but we still enjoyed the sight

One of the nicest example of wooden Maramureș arhitecture. The entrance is free, and you may visit the church and other buildings in the complex, including a very beautiful garden. At the entrance you may find o food court (even a building where you may find food cooked by the monastery at a very reasonable price)

An great Orthodox Monastery, a complex and a real pearl of Maramures, people say that is the most beautiful monastery in the area, a place for spirituality and contemplation. You are amazed by the beauty of the landscape, the woodcraft and the woodwork that is decorating the surroundings, the buildings and the cemetery. You have to see it and feel it in order to understand, a great spiritual stop and after you visit, or before, you can eat at the restaurant that you find just at the entrance. Great food cooked after recipes hold by the monastery. There is a museum with an exhibition and some of the items can be bought. at the entrance of the museum, you can find a gift shop with plenty of souvenirs from the area. Highly recommend..

Fantastic place to pray , living house of God! Best time to visit is Sundays or during the week at the morning or evening service. IT is than that you can pray together with the nuns and the people gathered there to be with God!

A lovely place to visit.

The Bârsana Monastery is situated in a very beautiful and pitoresc place in Maramureș, România. This old Monastery is welcome preserved taking in consideration the fact that is made from wood and the climate is very harsh to wood in these parts. Here you can see the beautiful wood pieces man made. The contrast between old and new is very present here and most of the time you feel like back in time. The impact of technology evolution is minimal here thing that I found very pleasing. The mood of the place is calming and relaxing due to the fact that the people are so pleasing and so calm. The wood churches are old but very well built and even in high wind they seem to still. The air is very clean here and in the spring time it starts to bee very full of odors from the multitude of flowers that are being planted here. I like coming here because of the tranquility and the silence this place has to offer. If you come here when there is some kind of manifestation you come be very good impressed by the clothing of the people and the way they do the things here. I recommend this place if you have the chance to be near.

Even though the place is brand new, they did manage to stick to the actual local wooden architecture. So the whole thing looks aestethically nice. Still it is mainly a tourist attraction. So its crowded.

Get a pause. Reserve few hours for this Monastery. A silent place, flowers, a museum with a lot of history of this place, old icons and a beautiful church. You will not regret it. Highly recommended (mostly in the weekdays).
