One of the few Sun temples in India, this has come to light in the last few years. The place is located in Budagavi near Uravakonda mandal in Anantapur district. It is just a few km from Uravakonda.The place has Shiva temple and Suryanarayana swamy facing south. It is said that he is looking at Yama who is son of sun God as south is yamas position/direction.It has a big compound and is getting cleaned for Rathasaptami festival.. it has become famous in recent times.. the temple inner sanctorum is small and has low ceilings..In India, we have Konark, arisevilli in srikakuoam .. and now Budagavi in Anantapur district.They conduct regular poojas in the temple and will be a good visit.

This the only temple belongs to the Sun god in Ananthapuramu district. This village also have a historical background. The locals say that Gautham Buddha did meditated here. It is easily accessible and has a good connectivity from Karnataka as well. But the path towards the temple is horrible and need maintenance.

Sree Ramalingeswara swamy temple, Budagavi (V), Ananthapuramu dist is situated (Lat. 14°5749.6N ; Long. 77°1413.3E) at the foot of the hillock on Uravakonda - Bellary road, it is 5 Kms from Uravakonda and 60 Kms from District Head Quarters. On the hill are ruined forts indicating that certain palegars ruled the surrounding villages from the fort. There are also caves on the hillock and during the period prior to the occupation of the hillock by the palegars, it is believed that buddahas (sages) used to do penance in this gavis (caves). Therefore, the place was known as Budagavi and the name has been subsequently corrupted into Budagavi.Sree Ramalingeswara swamy temple is situated on the Northern side of the budagavi Village. The flat roofed twin temple consists of two sanctums, and an antarala with a common mandapa. The main sanctum contains a linga maid of black stone facing east. A Seated Nandi in granite stone is placed in the antarala.In the Northern sanctum, an image of surya carved in granite stone is placed, facing south. He holds Lotuses in his two hands. Two female deities probably prabha and sandya are depicted on either side of surya in the bottom.Dwarapalakas are depicted on the doorjams of the main sanctum with Gajalakshmi motif on the lintel. It is datable to late medieval period.
