Love this Olympic size pool and the most beautiful views of NY. There are people of all nations.. enjoying there time here. Very family oriented too.

Nice pool in sunset park

I love this place. I actually moved to Sunset more than a decade ago because of the pool and the diversity Sunset has to offer. It is a magical place.

They took great care of my daughter when she had heat exhaustion and passed out... It was my 1st time there also.. Great life guards and the NYPD officers were so nice and kind. I would always go there from here on out... Def my favorite pool.. Grateful for there help

Our fist visit was amazing! Very friendly but firm security guards, kind , very polite assistants. Everything is clean and neat. We definitely will be back!

Lifeguards are very alert and attentive. The security is also alert. Big clean pool. They could use more family changing rooms though.

When I was there there were not many people which was great. The process of getting in was really quick and easy. Its good but not exceptional.

The pool itself wasn’t bad, very clean, smelled like nothing and the people minded their businesses. My only issue is the insane standard of rules. No socks, no colored shirts, no electronics allowed outside of the locker room, no jumping, no diving, no running, no “horse play”, no piggie back rides or play in the pool and I assume no having fun or smiling was probably somewhere there too. The lifeguards are constantly blowing their whistles if anyone does anything people commonly do at the pool.I love pools so much and I’ve been waiting weeks to go to one and when I showed up there I was disappointed. Honestly just go to the beach.

Everything is fine but the people are so caring it is very rude

I have not been inside this pool since I was a teen (in the 80s). Used to go all the time, I used to live within walking distance...great childhood memories. It appears cleaner, updated, nice beach chairs, umbrellas, tables and seating benches.It appears safer with the 16ft pool closed (Im glad its closed.) Theres more privacy. I would like to a tour inside the lockers and pool area. Havent had a chance. But looks very nice.

I just tried the lap swim and it was nice!

I would Have given it 5 stars but when i witnessed the parks supervisor allowing people to skip the line just because he knows them. I was very disappointed. I felt discriminated against because I Was not Black. What I heard was Disturbing...i was on line for almost an hour an he showed favoritism to certain people that were of color.

One of the better pools in Brooklyn. The lifeguards all do their job well. Very respectful Lifegaurds I just wish more cleaning and sanitizing was available.

The pool was not clean the time I went there, and the bathroom was really dirty, also they have bad attitude, like they gave me and my friends 2 minutes to change and we felt so uncomfortable because there was guys that kept looking at us, we couldnt even change in the bathroom. I prefer red hook but its close :(

Always a great experience. The life guards do a great job and the parks department keeps the place as clean as possible.

Great place for summer lap swim. Aside from a couple times the pool was closed for repairs, its a great place to swim for free in the summer. Everyone is super nice and the staff even remembers many of the swimmers by name. Plus, you get a free t-shirt if you swim 25 miles over the summer.

It’s a pretty good pool. Clean, great for a hot summer day swim and cool down. Staff have to check that you have proper swim clothes. Lifeguards follow safety policies for EVERYONE’S safety. If you are considerate and like order and safety, it’s a good place. If you don’t like following rules and think you are special and should be able to do anything you want, this is probably not the best place for you.

Pool was amazing but some workers have big as attitude. They Will disrespect. Mad strict with clothing items. Makes mans take off underwear. Some workers aka 4 workers where nice and amazing.💖

I was born in Brooklyn & when I was older, I used to go to the pool. I was reminiscing how he pool still looks so well preserved .. I also went to the baby pool area where my brother’s & sister enjoyed swimming . I always will have a special place in my heart for Sunset Park & the stunning view of New York City. Also , loved skating down what I used to call “ Dead Man’s Hill .“ Loved the playground areas also. Where has all those 73 yrs. gone to ? I am PROUD to be a “NATIVE BROOKLYNITE .” I now live in Delray Beach Florida & meet many Brooklynites & Native New Yorker’s .. There is a VERY SPECIAL FEELING I get when I come “back home “ for my Bay Ridge High School ..Class of ‘64 reunion . I drive by my school & still feel a closeness to BRHS . Also , drive to Sunset Park the to my old neighborhood.. 49th street between 5th /6th ave . My block sure looks great , those buildings are well cared for . Very large pools. Went in the summer. It was great. The water is super clean.

The place was a decent place to have some fun. Of course like any other public place its not the cleanest. My biggest claim is that they have to be senior citizen friendly. My 70 yr old mother-in-law wasnt allow in because she didnt have a swimsuit and she wasnt even going to get in the pool. They were very rude about it. When they let some destructive teens go in and that an old person. She was just going to seat in the side benches. She take have flip-flop. She isnt allow to be home alone so I had to take her. I was willing to should ID that she was 70. I think senior citizen should be allow to enter if they are just going to sit aside and enjoy the sun.

Great place to go and take the kids. Its clean and well run and orderly. Make sure you bring a lock to place your belongings in a locker. There is always NPYD and multiple lifeguards. Staff needs training in customer service!

Its a nice place to swim alone or with family and friends. There are some leaves and other things in the pool sometimes, but in total its great. Theres also a lane line separating the area where you can swim laps from the parts where you can play.

Its nice but crowded. Wish they had a kiddie area for little ones to play. The little ones play by the rail way going into the pool which is crowded by parents and toddlers.

I absolutely love this place its so much fun. And you have to bring a master lock and a bathing suit off course. The water is so beautiful, its a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family. You should go you will have a great time

Sunset park pool is free, not crowded, and great overall. There are many issues tho. For example, the lines are very long and you have to be 16 years old or above to go alone but there are other children who know how to swim too. Theres a lot of rude people but there are also nice ones. People pee in it, they make it more disgusting and warm. Theres all types of garbage. From, swimming goggles to anything really. The floors paint starts to break apart and everything. The pool is secured with security guards and yet there a lot of people breaking rules. As a result, its not the best pool, but its alright.

Eh, even though it’s free, It needs more lifeguards to watch for kids that are going to near the 5 foot depth. People sometimes even pooped in the pool! Then the lifeguards evacuate everyone from the pool and we have to wait a good 10 minutes waiting for the pool. As for the bathrooms. They can sometimes be clean. The toilets can use some work.

This pool is perfect it’s large it has a reasonable depth…even if there is a long line it never gets full…but the only bad thing is that sometimes we have to wait longer than normal session times and that the paint on the floor likes to chip away and stab your feet and the staff can be slightly rude…other than that this pool is wonderful

Its a typical city pool in that you have to show a lock and prove you have a bathing suit on to enter. The outside locker rooms are a vast improvement over other pools with dingy indoor set ups. Its relatively well maintained, but the lifeguards cant always control the occasional rowdy group, so the park security guards step in and throw people out. The pool itself seems cleaner than others Ive used in the city and it is big enough that you never feel crowded.

Almost nothing allowed to bring inside the pool area, it’s not friendly if some one in your family just want to stay close and take pictures. Cellphone is not allowed. How do people communicate if needed? It’s free so you can’t complain. Today it’s ending 5:30 earlier than the usual close time 6:45pm because a poopoo is discovered. lol

Great places too go for a swim for men and women go out there and have fun swimming! Stay SAFE!

Water is mad wet. One of the wettest pools out there. Doesn’t get better than this my kings and queens

Very good experience.everyone have to wear swim suit to go inside,even I dont know how to swim,so I have to buy swim suit from next street.i had backpack with my three kids clothes ,shoes and water,they push me out,because my backpack is too big to keep in locker,I met a nice guy to explain me why I can not stay and one very rude lady to push the guy to call police,because I didnt follow the rule.everyone have to follow the rule,but you have to nice to explain not threaten them to call police.

Yesterday I witnessed one of the employees talking down to a lady and asking her to put the phone on the locker while the employee herself was playing with phone 🤔 absolutely DISRESPECTFUL !!

Visiting Sunset Pool is a refreshing experience on a hot day. It is well maintained, and lanes for lap swimming are available. The outdoor lockers and showers are a great improvement over the previous indoor ones. If you read the Know Before You Go section of the website, you will have no surprises about what or what not to bring or wear. In the 1980s when the pool rules were not well enforced, the result was often broken glass and litter on the pool deck, people jumping in wearing street clothes, and out-of-control behavior by some of the visitors making for a very unpleasant time. The current environment is by far a much safer and more pleasant experience.

Water is clear, and the inside was renovated. Pleasant experience. Enjoy the Summer while Its still here.

Seems to be safe. Its very big so there is alot of room for many swimmers.

Its your average pool. However the pool water is wAAayyy too cold. In addition, there are small, sharp pebbles and leaves in the water.

This pool is the cleanest public pool Ive ever been to. Make sure you remember to bring a combination lock. Go early in the day to avoid the afternoon line.

My grandbabies first time at a real pool. All the employees, lifeguard were very nice. My 6year old and 4 years old, enjoyed every moment. Police presence was great as well. Thank you staff, with NYPD for making sunset pool and great again.

I went to the pool today and so far it was the worst experience because First this women where they check ur swimsuit was screaming at my mom because what she brought was not a swim suit but thankfully my mom brought an extra one that was the one. She should be more patient because she said screaming Thats the even the swimming suit Also she was making my mom take all her stuff from her bag like no its her personal stuff and then when we were coming out from the pool we went to the family changing rooms and they didnt let us because we were only four and its supposed to be five up like its FAMILY CHANGING ROOM!! So they told us to change in the Lookers like we want privacy!They just gave us Five minutes to change like if was enough time to change.They were disrespectful to us they should be more respectful and also clean the pool better because in the sides theres garbage I even saw an rotten apple that was disgusting.

I used to walk by this place all the time and look like a lot of fun the kids were always swim into wasnt any fights going on it was a great place to take your children for the afternoon beautiful part

The cops show up 30 or more minutes late every day now.

I saw many comments about how the staffs treating swimmers. My opinion is all began from swimmer. Most acts and behave like animals and I dont blame to be treated like one by the staffs. On a bad days when I was using the pool I was treated like one too but I dont take it seriously because of those people ahead of me. I will give more Stars if they should put up signs in big Chinese characters. No Spitting on deck or in the changing room. Most of the people dont wear flip flops and disgusting to see solid spits on the ground.

Great place to cool off and relax in the summer eat.

Its a good place to swim and learn how to swim yourself. Its just bad that they need to check if youre wearing an swimming appropriate underwear/trunk.

I always go there on summer and its awesome yeah u cant bring electronics and I think that is good because u are so used to have fun and swim not be on your phone but I think you should go. I recomended.

Hidden Gem, I honestly didnt know about the pool until my friend told me. Great place to keep cool during the hot summer days.

The last time (2 years ago)I visited this pool it was clean, but today, Sunday July 14, 2019 , it was far from clean. The odor/stench in the outdoor female locker area was horrendous. The pool itself was dirty. Chip bags in the drain area as well as other garbage along with chips of blue paint. Additionally large chunks of the floor of the pool seem to be cracked and or missing.

Sunset park pool is a good place to have fun and swim but the only thing is that it’s to dirty people pee in there and they also put the water in there mouth and then spit them out and they also kick people out when they didn’t do anything wrong

Ive been going to this pool for 2 years now and every time I went with my family I always have a good time I always feel safe with the high security they have on the outside of the pool as well as on the inside people seem to be very friendly no drama great pool very clean

They improved the locker situation which was disgusting, but they have a strict no electronics policy and wont let you in without a padlock. I dont see why electronics are not allowed many people have waterproof cases, but I was told even if case is waterproof it is not allowed. I also saw them check several peoples towels for electronics. That aside it was ok.

This is one gigantically huge pool, such that it can possibly accommodate the entire Sunset Park zip code. Is only 4-ft at the deepest point, making it very family friendly. But aside from that there was not much else positive about it. The pool is in need of some serious maintenance overall. I kept stepping on pieces of sharp, loose concrete from the pools floor. The staff could be a little rude at times. You must show your bathing suit (men should have a liner, no shorts allowed) and a padlock or else you would not be allowed in to the premises. Lastly, no cameras and no talking pictures are allowed.

Nice open outdoors but unfortunately the place is not the cleanest nor best place for a swim. You have kids flailing around in the pool and had my slippers stolen

Some of the park staff are rude but once you get past them its so much they also give free meals.
