Fabulous food, beautiful ambiance, lovely drinks. Loved hearing the faint sounds of merrymaking karaoke in the back of the restaurant - just enough to feel like Im at a party but not too loud that I couldnt hear my date. Also, very high quality meat and their appetizers are so interesting. The best part was the lemon mochi cake for dessert!
Although I didn’t order Korean BBQ, I sat in the bar area and it’s a beautiful setting!! The red tree really creates a smooth ambiance. Even the Korean BBQ tables looked super sleek and I would totally consider having a birthday here.I came here to find legit bibimbap - ya know, the whole stone vessel that keeps the food warm and the rice at the bottom crunchy. The elements were delicious, fresh, and the flavors on point. They didn’t do the whole egg presentation thing like they do in other countries, but I’m sure there’s good reason haha. It wasn’t a deal breaker - I still got my egg on top 🙂The pork rinds were fine. Good seasoning. Crunchy. Nothing super special, but it met my expectations (in a good way).NOTE ⚠️ Careful of the kimchi drink. It’s like drinking straight up kimchi. Not my personal favorite and it was a lot to handle. Otherwise! The other drinks were good.I’d definitely come back!
The indoor dining experience is pretty great! Went there with my friend for bbq and seafood pancake. Awesome vibe and yummy food. Beef is BOMB need to order and grill it! Pork belly is a bit too fat but it’s yummy too. I visited during pandemic in 2020 and seated outside. It wasn’t very good. I’m glad I get to go back to the indoor seats and fully enjoy the services and the food there. Will come back for sure and excited to sing karaoke with my friends there!
Where else but the Gowanus would you be able to build this roomy dining room for inset grilling, and adjoining cocktail lounge? Celebrated many a birthday here, since the menu and tables are perfect for group dining. You can also end with drinks and karaoke in the private back rooms after. The list for the grill is briefer than KTown, but you’ll be satisfied. The Galbi is tender and savory. Pork belly grilled then dipped in soy paste is also umami punch. Loved that in addition to lettuce leaf, there were shiso (?) leaves for wrapping, which lent an herby touch. Pajeon here is my favorite over other places - light and crispy texture but chewy too. Before heading back out into the humid night, we dived into a bright cooling bowl of hibiscus bingsu- granita texture with a circus of other garnishes!
I went to Insa not too long ago on a Saturday with my boyfriend and we had a great time. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar tables and we were served by the best waitress, her name was Kate. There we ordered:•House made cherry limeades•Seafood corn dog•Tteokbokki•*From the cocktails section* I got one drink called “Three Little Women” and he got “Damsoul in a Sundress”•Insa’s special dish which was Pork ribs on kimchi waffles with a sweet glaze on top•Lastly for dessert we ordered Mochi Sizzle and Hibiscus-Coconut milk Sorbet. The bar section didn’t include the barbecue portion of the menu so if you want the Korean bbq make sure to arrive early or make a reservation 😁. Either way you and your friends will have an awesome time!If you would like to see more pictures and videos from this restaurant and more restaurants check out my Instagram @blaze_eatsnyc
Our server, Natasha, was great! Though the kitchen was excruciating slow in pushing out our BBQ items. The grilled was turned on & off 3 times because of the constant delays. Wasnt a particularly busy day either, half the tables were empty. She did comp our dessert though, which was appreciated. With that said, the meal was enjoyable thanks to the superbly professional service by our waitress. Kudos! Oh and a shout out to Luke the Hat.
Contemporary Korean, definitely get the beef and pork, the pancake is also very fluffy and savory. 🤩
The service and food was so good. We got the short rib & pork belly bbq along with someSalad and some chicken. They had three brewery on draft which washed down all the food superbly. The interior was like something out a Kill Bill movie. I will book one of the Karaoke rooms next time
The ambience here is amazing, so cozy, big, comfortable, great place to double date, go out w friends for good food & drinks or just one on one. The food is fantastic, the service is great & you cant beat the location. Def a MUST go to of youre looking for a good Korean BBQ place w authentic dishes in Brooklyn (& thats saying something cause 8th Ave (Sunset Park) has good ones as well).
Neat spot in Brooklyn for KBBQ. The food was not bad but not the best in the city. The service was really great though, waiter was super helpful.
Absolutely delicious Korean BBQ. Friendly staff. Ample space for social distancing. Options for indoor and outdoor dining.
Service was alright but the price per portions is horrific. $40 worth of a beef for a small plate that barely fills 1 person. The quality wasn’t even anything extraordinary either. The only saving grace is the fried chicken, which was great. Overall, would not recommend.
Caity was super helpful and so nice it was my first time visiting as a medical patient. she ran me through the process, answered all the questions I had and was so helpful again, I couldn’t have asked for a better bud tender. She deserves a raise!
Went with friends for karaoke & dinner.Beautiful restaurant, very mixed service experience, excellent food, high quality karaoke rooms.1) cool ambiance throughout - cool dinner music mix, v cool bar room, nice out door setup, beautiful dining room2) The karaoke room is a flat rate of $80/hr with auto-grat 20%, which seems like a smart business model and a good deal for parties. But it’s a huge splurge for three karaoke nerds- still, we really enjoyed ourselves. You can order drinks and a limited menu of snacks or dumplings to the room for additional $$.3) the food is really special. I’d call it new Korean. Surprised we had to pay for banchan but it’s only $5, refills granted, and I feel that the quality is leagues above the classics you’re used to. Other notables- the bulgogi includes a lot of mushrooms and other vegetables, which I loved. The BBQ pork buns were served with a delicious mixed pickle. All in all, the quality (and quantity) of the food and on that price point is exceptional and I hope to go back soon and try everything.4) the staff is all polite and reasonably competent. Without giving a long play by play, I’ll just say the outdoor waitress with long hair was very good at her job. All the other people we interacted with seemed to be missing that service industry mindset to be welcoming and help you spend your money. We were turned away before 7 because we didn’t have a reservation, only to figure out for ourselves through the online-booking tools there were available reservations just 90min later in the evening AND realized the karaoke rooms were open so we could get ourselves started with drinks and snacks there. So strange.
Had Korean bbq for the first time. Really great hosts who explained the BBQ process.
Solid food and fun, relaxed atmosphere. The bbq isnt as good as some of the places in ktown, but still good.
Yall this food.was so good! I would totally go back there, mayne next time for Karaoke as well. The wings, the squid, drinks...the everything.
Food was not good.Meat was poorly cooked and very inconsistent. Fried chicken was way too dry. Kimchi was terrible (major red flag for any Korean restaurant) and they only served it in tiny portions. The cuttlefish jerky was the best dish we had but its about the quality youd get at Hmart.Great decor and ambiance. Good service (aside from terrible handling of the meat ⚠️). Karaoke onsite.I didnt think KBBQ could be meh until I came here. The food was so much worse than what you could get in Ktown or Queens. Its just bad Korean food wrapped in BK hipster visuals and NY convenience.
Definitely order the short ribs! Starters are good for tempera mushrooms, cucumber salad, everything was flavorful.
This place is an embarrassing attempt at Korean food. They managed to fail in every aspect of the spectrum: service, portions, and quality of food. The owners spent all their money on the interior design of the place and ran out of money to hire competent chefs and waiters.Service:The waiters looked like they were forced to work there without pay. Our water pitchers were constantly empty and we had to ask for them to be refilled every time. They have no incentive to treat their customers well since there is a mandatory 20% tip on the bill.Portions:The portions here are SMALL. My 5 year old niece could come here and would leave starving. We had 12 people and had to do the prefix menu. We chose the pork belly and galbi as our BBQ options. After the first plate came (which doesnt even feed ONE person), they turned off the fire which confused us because we literally had 1 piece of meat each. We had to ask the manager if there was more coming and ONLY then they brought out another plate which equated to a whopping 2 pieces per person. These guys are literally committing robbery of $75 per person.Quality:Dumplings and squid salad were okay. Fried chicken was the worst Korean fried chicken Ive ever had. It tasted like they bought the Korean BBQ red marinade from Hmart, dumped it in a bowl and fried it. Also it was way too salty. Best of all, one of our guests bit into a piece that wasnt fully cooked. The pork belly and galbi were less than mediocre. This place is absolute trash. Go to the worst Korean spot in k-town or flushing and you will have MUCH better food spending 60% less money.
Left the restaurant hungry as this was the Smallest family sized portions ever. Grill was left on after use for about 15 mins. Service was not up to par. First and last time at this place
The best, you wont be disappointed. Cocktails alone are enough to bring you back.
First visit was a real treat. Fantastic food. Amazing service with real, not phoned in, personalities. And we can’t wait to try the private karaoke rooms that look really cute!!
Fantastic experience at this Korean place. The food was excellent right from the starters especially the rice cake and the ttekbokki. And the pork belly bbq was terrific as well. On top of that loved the large wooden tables which had plenty of space
We had a birthday party here and had the best time! Our server was GREAT! He helped us cook and let us sit back and drink. They have so many great options on the menu; small dishes, dishes to share and a good amount of vegetarian options. Then karaoke in the bad was AMAZING. They give you a server who can help with anything you need. Great place!
Fantastic food with really great Vegetarian options. The asparagus was fantastic
I visit this spot a lot since I work close by. I must say their customer service is always fantastic and they keep the spot well organized constantly. Pricing is reasonable and they serve generous portions.
Insa was a great date spot. We had the dry aged beef, it was amazing and totally worth the price. We also had the rice cakes and sweet potato noodles - everything was delicious. The local beers were on spot and the soju was super smooth. Dont miss the soft serve with caramel and pretzels! We will definitely be back soon.
Very delicious Korean BBQSpacious and lively atmosphereClean restaurant and restroomsKaraoke rooms availableMy only concern was getting our fried rice and noodles towards the end. We would’ve preferred to have them in the beginning or with the meat at least.Yangnyum Galbi (Beef Short Rib) 👍🏼Insa Fried Chicken 👍🏼Kkot Deungshim (Dry Aged Ribeye)👎🏼
Outdoor dining setup was good, fried chicken was delicious, but the cocktails and Bulgogi were misses. Enjoyed the date with my wife, but there are better Korean restaurants in Brooklyn.
Great place for groups, and the food was amazing. The portions look smaller than they are trust me.Minor Negative: its Korean bbq but you dont have any control over bbqing or how long the meat cooks or anything. They do it all for you standing next to you the whole time. Kinda weird if you ask me. If you arent going to let me cook it at all, why not just cook it in the kitchen?
Feel like this place is a bit overrated. I here about a year ago in with a group of 3 but ended up waiting 1 1/2 to get seated because it was busy and didnt know we needed a reservation to come in. So we waited out in the cold and they make you register you phone to get an alert on when you table is ready. It was very busy and crowded. In the back you can hear the people doing karaoke. The food was mediocre. I felt the service wasnt that great we had to constantly keep asking for help and someone to take our order. One the the servers even ignored me as they passed by which sort of shocked me It seemed like the bigger table got priority over the smaller ones which is understandable but any customer should not be disregard. There was an asian lady working and she had asked if everything was ok and politely we said yes to not cause any problems. She seemed like she might have been the owner or someone in charge. I could tell on the look on her face that she knew that we were not but did not press the question further. Overall. based on the food alone it was okay nothing amazing like I see on many other review but dont think I would come here again.
First time at this place and the food was delicious. The staff was courteous and attentive. The appetizers, soup, rice, and noodles are all served fully cooked. The BBQ items are cooked at the table and served family style at the table. Our server Justin was attuned to our needs and overall he provided a great dinner service.
I’ve never tried the kbbq which is maybe what they’re known for and good with. But I’ve ordered takeout bibimbap and soondubu here and both were so so disappointingly bland. Gave it two chances, months apart, and both times so bland I felt a need to go somewhere else to be satisfied with dinner :(. I don’t even know how something as flavor packed as soondubu can turn out bland without intentionally trying to make it so...maybe trying to remove spice from it so it’s more attractive to others? Oh well...
Really a well taken care of resteraunt. I have seen few kitchens as clean as theirs. Will definitely be going back.
Literally a hidden gem. My partner and I have enjoyed Insa many times, and have only eaten at the bar/lounge area. We always get the same thing and it is to die for! Fried chicken, the bulgogi bibimbap in a stone bowl, and dwaeji gogi!
Excellent decor, dumplings are delicious, but quite pricey
Cool vibe, attentive service and yummy food. The vegetarian bibimbap is very tasty (be sure to order it in the hot clay pot). Cocktails were also a treat. It’s a little more expensive in comparison to other local restaurants of the same quality but would recommend!
It was good. food ok .service excellent.I would recommend pancakes and fried chicken..BBQ not worth it ..just my opinion..pineapple jalapeños ice cream very recommend!!!
Pitiful amount of sides, great taste but too expensive.
The perfect date: Go to the bar and order the Scorpion bowl + a half a Korean fried chicken. Get there around 6pm before it gets jumping. Grab two seats at the bar.Relax.Enjoy.My wife and I have been doing this for the past two years on Friday nights. Joy.
Good food. The restaurant week pasta was amazing .
The place is awesome and even their food too
Excellent location for korean bbq. Service is always awesome even when they have a full house. The service here is attentive. It has an awesome feel to it. I see why this place has so many great reviews.
We met with friends at this spot for a meeting. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we felt very good. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we will visit this place again. Keep it up.
Delicious food and excellent service.
Love the karaoke bar but the food not so much. The brisket is dry and doesnt taste good at all, dumplings taste like overcooked egg rolls... The only good thing on the menu are the cocktails. So if you want to have a drink and sing your heart away... This is the place to be!
This place is worth the trip deep into Brooklyn. The food is plenty and filing. If you are not a seafood lover you will be ok with plenty of good beef and chicken options as well. The wait staff is very friendly. We did karaoke as well and that was a great experience. There is an app where you can find and select songs....saves you from flipping through the song book....but they have books as well.
Hubby took me for birthday, didnt care for it to much..... Was looking for more authentic Korean BBQ.....
Really enjoyed coming to Insa for dinner with a group of friends and karaoke afterwards. Quality of the food was excellent with the price cheaper than what you would get in Ktown. I liked the bibimbap and Korean fried chicken (must come back for maekju). However, our server was not very polite so I cannot give the full five stars.
Came for a fun work event. Food & drinks were good. White wine bottle ordered not so great. Over all the experience was great and we would definitely come again to eat 1st then sing after.
One of the best Korean BBQ places in Brooklyn. Dont let the front door phase you, the place is huge on the inside. One giant hall with several private rooms for parties and kareoke. The food is delicious, and very good beverage menu. The staff is fast and courteous, and chefs know their stuff.
Last week was the first time we visited this magnificent restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last time. We had a good time with the courteous service, with the great food and booze and with the friendly payment. We will surely return there in a short time.
We had an excellent experience at this place. We enjoyed the excellent environment and the meals. The staff were very attentive. I’m content we finally decided to try this place.
The food is constantly well prepared and flavorful, employees hands over fantastic service. I really like how neat it is and vibes. Would recommend to others.
Great Korean spot, but pricey to the point where it really is not worth to do the bbq table experience (unless you are taking someone who has never done anything like it before). The move here is to eat in the bar area and order off the normal menu, which is amazing and a much much better deal than the bbq. Great tiki style cocktails as well. Only 4 stars because of the expense and the bbq side will rope people in when it is not what shines here.
I actually loved their food and service, awesome location next to my house. The cashiers are always nice. Will come back again.
Tasty food and nice ambiance, but pretty expensive for what you get. Prices were originally high because they were proud to say that they were a no tip restaurant, but that is no longer a thing. So generally not affordable for everyone.
I always arrive buying some food here. I enjoy the swift customer service and well prepared dishes. They never disappoint.
One of the absolute best restaurants I have ever been to. Food was insanely delicious. Our server James was amazing. Highly recommend. Will make the the 25 mile drive from NJ to come again! Its worth it.
I visit this spot a lot since I work nearby. I must say their customer service is always great and they keep the place well kept at all times. Pricing is convenient and they serve big portions.
Very good Korean bbq spot. While alil on the pricey side, I’ve eaten here 2/3 times and the quality is consistently excellent. Whether ordering meats for the grill, or regular dishes, it’s all great. Come with a group of friends, stuff yourselves & then rent a private karaoke room in the back and have a ball. You won’t regret it.
Delicious food, comfortable environment
A wonderful experience. I forgot how much fun karaoke is. Hanging with friends, good food, service. Will come back and would highly recommend a visit to Insa.
We ordered a couple variations of pork and was very impressed, very tender and flavorful. Prices are at the higher range but the quality is definitely there. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating too.
A very okay Korean BBQ. The fried chicken was delicious, but after that it wasnt much to talk about. The staff is great and the design is lovely, but the BBQ portion left much to be desired. It wasnt worth it to me personally, I will most likely not be coming back.
Great service, great food, incredibly well run and friendly staff and high quality food ingredients. Had a great time last night celebrating my wife’s birthday, thank you Insa staff!
A nice Korean restaurant with astronomical prices. Do yourself a favor and explore Korean town or better yet, head to Queens. Cheers all!
Always solid. If its a busy night you can sometimes get lucky with bar seats or a bigger bar table. We love the chicken, the rice cakes, the seafood pancake. Great with a group. Call ahead and make a reservation for after dinner to sing karaoke.
Their chicken is amazing. Had a wonderful time doing karaoke. The set up is great. Will go again
Amazing fried chicken, Bib Bim bap, and cocktails. Such a friendly staff willing to go above and beyond. What a gem in BK!
Great service
They have karaoke in the back and the setup is great. Experienced two of the rooms. One fit 8-10 and the other 20 or more. Good acoustics, several mics, a mini stage in the bigger room and a tambourine!
