Very nice experience πŸ‘Œ and a great place to visit with great views of lake pleasant and the surrounding area campsites are spread out not right on top of each other and very quiet and peaceful and great sunsets and the site has water πŸ’§ and electricity with 110 outlets as well as 30 and 50amp travel trailer plugs πŸ”Œ huge dumpsters restrooms 🚻 and showers 🚿 conveniently located around the whole area for all to use great experience and we will be coming back frequently.

Clean, beautiful park next to the lake. We arent on the lake side loop and yet we have a great view of the lake and the desert. If they had sewer hook up then it would be 5 stars. However they do have a dump station.

Campsites are reasonably priced at $22 and $32. They book FAR in advance, so book fast. They have shoreline camping, have to wait hours for. Its about the same price. Bathrooms are nice and clean, campsites are clean and well maintained. Only issue, is having a very large desert and still having people so close. I can currently hear my neighbors every word. Depends on the site though, some are worse than others, do your homework.

This is a county parking. The price was right and the site was wide enough to make backing into the site with a large 5th wheel not difficult. The park was not crowded due to the time of year (after labor day). The wild donkeys were fun to watch. Our site had a great view looking over lake pleasant.

I just spent the weekend here with my family in our 30 travel trailer. The campground itself is on the side of a mountain, which allows for some spectacular city and sunset views. The spots themselves have electric/water hookups, a concrete picnic table, a metal fire ring, and a ramada for shade. However, some of the pull-thru sites do not have a ramada, so do be sure to do your research before picking your spot. The roadways in the campground itself are a bit tight, so backing in could be challenging for larger rigs or new RV owners. Dont be intimidated though, because everybody there is patient and will actually offer to help if youre having trouble. Our spot was level, which was really nice.If youre looking to hike near the lake, I recommend driving up to the Discovery Center and hitting the roadrunner trail which runs along the lake. Theres also a really cool peninsula that you can climb for some really nice views. Its a bit steep, but my 7-year-old was able to do it easily. While hiking, you should make note of the pull-thru sites that have unobstructed views of the lake. There are a lot of trails in the area, but this was the only one we did.The only con I noticed was the dual dump station that seems to service the entire area. There could be others around, but I didnt see them. We waited about 30-minutes in line, which was not the end of the world, just something to consider when youre heading out with a trailer. The staff here is great and very responsive to issues (my neighbors 50-amp breaker wasnt working, and a ranger came by and fixed it immediately). All in all, this is a great campground with the best views around. We liked this campground so much that we were checking out reservations for next month while sitting around the fire.

Beautiful desert lake views. Great sites. water and electric. Think we were able to see pictures of the site. Only big draw back, dont have any programs with rangers, information not always clear, you seem kind of on your own. Campground pretty spread out - be ready to drive a lot. Lake ids gorgeous clear water, but campsites have a hike to get there. Discovery center only open weekends. But realize it is a county operation, not a state park.

We camped on the Scorpion Bay side of Lake Pleasant at Roadrunner Campground - Scorpion Bay is across the lake from the Marina/Harbor side of Lake Pleasant (the Harbor Bay side is predominantly full-timers/seasonal residents). Check-in time is 2:00; check-out is noon. If your reservation is on a Sat/Sun or on a holiday, the lines to get into the park are lonnngggg - Lake Pleasant is very popular with the day use/picnic people and boat/water craft people - lots of locals go for the day so be prepared. The sites at the Roadrunner Campground are nice and flat - easier to navigate the space when parking your rig. I recommend pulling up the satellite map feature on Google to get the lay of the land before you reserve your spot at either campground. There is primitive camping also available, but I havent had the experience. Plenty of potties and showers throughout the park - showers are one-person rooms (I prefer this). The toilets are in the same building as the showers, but no toilet in the shower room - go potty before you get into the shower room. Lake Pleasant is in the desert with a view of the lake from many sites. There are no real shade trees - if youre sun-phobic (like I am), bring a canopy/easy-up. Lots of rangers and Sheriff patrol throughout the park - primarily because of the high activity on the lake. I have never had a bad experience with any camping neighbors and the sites have good space in-between. If youre a water person, the high summer temperatures in Phoenix wont deter you. If youre not a water person, you will hang out in your rig with the A/C. I havent stayed here during the summer months so I cannot relate any specifics. Enjoy!

This place is beautiful! Located right on Pleasant Lake. The views here are spectacular during all times of the day and night! It is a really quiet, peaceful place where you can just enjoy nature. All the sites that I saw had both electric and water. There are even some sites that are more handicap accessible and reserved for handicap tags only. They have two bathrooms( male and female) and also 4 showers(2 male and 2 female). There is also parking by the bathrooms if you need to drive to them. One very cool thing about these sites are the multiple hiking trails that you explore. These trails are all over the park and some lead to some very cool peninsulas that you can climb up.Its a very dog friendly campground and has some dog bag and trash receptacles around so that you can pick up after your dogs. The temperature is really nice with the lake right next to you and a nice cool wind that comes across it. Noon is the warmest, and is a good time to turn on the AC or open the windows. At night the temp drops a bit cooler and a warm blanket or a long sleeve shirt might be a necessity.Overall this place is pretty great. I will definitely be coming back again.

They were having trouble with the computer so they told me to call down and they could do it over the phone. When I called down on friday, Lisa told me I HAD TO UNHOOK MY RV AND GO DOWN TO THE OFFICE. This was a 8:45 pm and check out is at 10am. After a bit, she said I could do it in the morning. What is wrong with given a little custmer service. Its not like I didnt try to take care of it when I was checking in.Lesson learned, dont use state parks.

Man, I love this little campground. I almost didnt want to review it because I felt people would be more attracted to it. So lets get this out of the way first and foremost: you are far enough from Phoenix but not quite far enough away from the heat. Expect the same temperatures, but with the bonus of being able to cool off in the most glorious and beautiful Lake Pleasant. All campgrounds in this area are accessed through a toll road style checkpoint where they determine if youre going in for day activities or if you have a reservation. Be sure to let them know that you have one, as the day use fee is included in the cost of your camp site reservation. As they will tell you at the window, you need to go back and reserve more time by 9AM on your checkout day if you wish to extend your visit. Otherwise checkout is 12PM. Back to the campground itself! The Roadrunner Campground is a good bit above the water line. Youll need to hike down a few hundred yards to get to the lake itself, but there are plenty of well established, rocky trails to take you there. Every site has a water hookup. Although we didnt take an RV, this was a fantastic addition for our little campsite as it provided potable water and much needed cooling relief after a day by the lake. These sites also have a sun shaded, concrete picnic table area next to the parking pad. The campground hosts were attentive and courteous! As were all our neighbors, even those who found themselves awake well into the morning - since these sites are seemingly spaced out just the right distance from each other. This place was easy to find and easy to relax at and we will absolutely be back for more. Ideally, this would be a spring or fall campsite for most as the heat is still very prevalent in the summer months. Thanks for the great weekend!

The campground is beautiful. The bathrooms are very nice. We only went on one trail and it could use a little work. My problem was with the rules or maybe it was the attitude of the gatekeeper. My only complaint is that Maricopa county and the rangers need to build a way down to the waters edge from this great campsite. Either 300-400 stairs or maybe a switch back trail. Then this would be a five star camp site. Oh the host at least one of them should sell ice for the site too!πŸ˜€
