My dad works at NOAA solar forecasting center, which is on the same premises as NIST. I did a tour of both facilities. Both tour guides were fantastic. I got to see the solar forecasting Center (inside and out since I was with my dad) I got to see the National Weather Service forecasting Center, and I also got to see the atomic clock at NIST. Very interesting!l
Cutting edge research is done here
NIST is one of the best government agencies out there! Everything you do every day is affected by NIST in some way.
Thank you for REFPROP! When I worked on the Space Shuttle Program, we used a homemade FLUIDS routine that was based on the old NBS tables. It had a few errors because it was done by hand and then curve fit - but the REFPROP app and Excel/Matlab add-ons are incredible. Thank you for this fine product, and I am horribly jealous that you live in Boulder and I’m still down in New Orleans... I want to live in Boulder too...
I was having a big problem with my atomic clocks switching back one hour. I waited almost two weeks and neither of the clocks or my G-Shock would fall back. No one locally could help me, so I went straight to tje top: the people in charge, in Boulder, Colorado. Dave was very helpful and gave me a few ideas on how I could help receive a stronger signal. His ideas worked and all three timepieces are right on.
My phone was off by 12 minutes, for 2 years. My friend George who works here looked at my phone for 10 seconds and scientifically reset my my phone to the time. 13/10 they know what time it is.
They sure are dialed in! Toured the facility a few years back. Personnel very knowledgeable.
I work here as an undergraduate fellow, the experience has been great. Security and respect to all people is at the top. The mountain view is amazing. Sometimes they make tours, which are very educational.
Lame
The guards gave me a parking ticket for parking where I was told to park. And I was there for a interview, thanks for the offer, no thanks.
Great people work there. I was treated with the utmost respect. Security was on top of their job. Their back yard has an amazing view, as well.
Fascinating history tour of Building 1 of NIST hosted by Historic Boulder Inc. I hope that they offer it again.
Super cool place. Very high security.
After years of storing my ions elsewhere (salt mines, lightning bolts, etc) and never really being satisfied, a friend pointed me in the direction of NIST Ion Storage. I have been very happy with the service. Im subtracting one star because of what I deem to be an unreasonable insistence on accuracy and precision. Its almost like you have to have an atomic clock to be on time with these folks!
I was in the area on vacation and wanted to tour because I seen a documentary on TV but average people are not allowed.
Love this place - great info and super staff
I moved all my ions upon recommendation of a friend and I dont regret it one bit. I never had one missing in 25 years. Best ions storage in town!
I would store my ions here any day - best prices hands down!
So much knowledge and brave science exploration
I go here every day and NIST stands for national institute of standards and technology
Setup a tour... Its very educational!
Great place to work.
Permission is needed in advance for a tour but is worth the trouble.
Great service, tasty ions.
I work there
Science! Seriously, these people science, and science hard.
Amazing campus
Incredible
Smaller than Marylands NIST.
