Wonderful. Just wonderful everything. The chairs. The cocktails. Even the corned beef hash for brunch. The bartenders were very friendly and obviously talented. A nice whiskey selection. The attached photo is a Bees Knees cocktail served in a honey bear glass. The attention to small details surrounding everything is excellent.
Oak roomMathew the bartender was really nice and opened a new bottle of wine for me.Lots of new food items on the menu since the reopening after Covid. This is a beautiful place in a perfect location. Very classy! It feels a little bit like Europe. You can always meet interesting people. You can talk to people on business trip and also many local Bostonians choose the Oak Room for a drink and dinner.
This place always is top notch! Also they have good top shelf liquor! Carry-on folks keep staying beautiful...
Ate here for a late breakfast. Food was very good. Scrambled eggs were perfect, corned beef hash was delish, hash browns had just right amount of crisp. Service did not match the food. Inattentive and the group consensus was our server thought we were burdening him. My breakfast came with coffee and juice. When he brought out everyones drinks, I asked where my coffee and juice were and he said we had to specifically ask for them...overall food was great, service was poor.
Came here for a birthday & left disappointed. Service was pretty trash. I think the guy got annoyed 3 drinks got sent back. But we said we’d still pay for them. Everyone got their food except 2 from the party. Waiter never came back to the table to ask how anything is or if we needed anything. We were next to the kiosk to check out so we had to get his attention and let him know one more person still hasn’t gotten their food. Pretty sure he forgot the order from his reaction. Everyone was done their meal & mine still hadn’t come out. It was 10 something (we got there at 8:30), and finally got the shrimp and grits & it was not good. Had no flavor. We then asked the waiter as he passed by if we can get a dessert with a candle. Someone else brings us a cookie with ice cream that was already melted. Saw the waiter again and walked up to him and asked for a round of shots for our table. He said “one moment” and just never came back. We ended up just leaving. I understand people get busy but this was pretty bad. Food wasn’t that great either. And we still tipped even though his service was bad.
So we were over at Prudential and my wife had found something that recommended the place so we gave it a shot. The food was very good, and as a nice surprise, my wife ordered a side of fries and they provided mayo along with the ketchup. Not something you usually see. I went with the mussels to see what they did. They were good, but not something amazing - that is difficult to do. Service was excellent.
Breakfast was amazing. Eggs Benedict was one of the best wed ever had. Quiet, comfortable atmosphere and got sat immediately even though there was 1+ hour waits at every other breakfast place nearby on a Saturday morning.
The food was amazing so delicious I would definitely go back again for the food!!! The service was good, not to fast however very friendly staff. We went for appetizers and drinks, and then went back the next morning for breakfast soooo delicious. The space was absolutely beautiful, gorgeous , the hanging chandeliers and the detailing of the entire place was spectacular!
Amazing food & atmosphere. Top notch
Service was great, food? Eh it could be better. I think the only good thing I got from this restaurant was the burger and coke bottle🙃 I took a video of my food, sorry I couldn’t share what the food looked like.
Breakfast here is fantastic! Tried the Brioche French toast, Corned beef hash, and eggs Benedict. Food was good, service was great, ambiance is nice as well! Docking 1 star because I had dinner here 2 nights ago and the clam chowder seemed like it was from frozen...the clams were cold while the soup was warm. Weird. Lobster was good though, and so was the tuna tartare!
Had excellent and engaging service from Tom in a beautiful setting. His personality shined through and his easygoing conversation made the meal memorable. The hostess was kind enough to accommodate our request to sit by the fire so we could take in the view and enjoy the ambiance to the fullest. We ordered the breakfast pizza and enjoyed that with our beers.
Very nice place for a night out or just a meal. The food is amazing, the ambiance of this historic bar is incredible and the drinks are top notch. We only sampled one dish from the small menu but it was probably the best of that dish either of us had ever had. Prices are upscale but to be expected and comparable to the area. We will be back!
Oak Bar has incredible food, drinks and staff! Delicious in elegant surroundings and the bar staff are all friendly and super attentive. Tues-Sat enjoy the dynamic duo tending bar. I you show up on these days you will very quickly realize who they are and enjoy the great service provided! A must do whether your visiting Boston or your a resident. A++
You had me at the bread and butter!!! Im not even a bread and butter person and it still has me dreaming. All the food is incredible and the staff is amazing!!
Large, modern bar. Sophisticated interior, outdoor tables, and great drinks. Mai tais, yes.
Fantastic food and service along with an awsome atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Restaurant was super fancy. The decor reminded me of France. Our waiter was super friendly and joked with us which honestly made the place better. Usually places like this are snobby, but this one was expensive and had great food but wasn’t too snobby which was quite a good surprise. We got the North end pizza and a bottle of Prosecco. Was really enjoyable would return.
I loved this place I’ve came a few times here for breakfast. However, my last visit was disappointing because I was treated rudely by an old lady who was responsible for our table. It made me cancel my order and leave!
Honestly would be amazing if the food and drink werent incredibly bad. What a shame.Dont come here if you dont have a US ID.
I wanted to like this place but the meal I had really put a dent in those hopes. Although the ribeye looked the part, it seemed like it was cooked from frozen in that the connective tissue didnt soften and neither did the meat itself even though it was cooked medium rare. The shrimp and grits did not mention on the menu that it was prepared with andouille sausage, something that pescetarians would want to know. And the hamachi ceviche was just a sour mess. The decor was great and the ambiance was very nice. But I would avoid this place if youre looking for a fine meal.
I enjoyed a delicious breakfast however the coffee was extremely weak. The service and atmosphere was very nice.
The bar is beautiful, there’s no doubt about that. The cocktails were tasty and well-made, though the vodka martini could have used a splash more vermouth. The golden beets small plate was disappointing. The beets tasted like they had been boiled rather than roasted and, though the rest of the plate was flavorful, the beets were just squishy and bland. Everything is quite pricy, so I expected the food quality to somewhat match the price.
Its a blend of old and new.. traditional and modern.. the food is fresh and interesting.. and the drinks are perfectly mixed.
Cozy and classy, phenomenal food, and some of the best cocktails Ive ever had. It can be pricey at times, but you get what youre paying for: quality. Its not too much or too little, but rather a pleasant blend of atmosphere and fare that make it a great date spot and/or a classy night out. Id suggest the Chai Manhattan - theyre reminiscent of a fireside chat, but in a whiskey sort of way :)
Always a great experience! We love the staff especially Shaq!!!
Meh... mediocre or maybe my expectation was too high? The lobster in the roll was over seasoned, fries just drizzled with more salt and my market salad was drenched with very salty sauce or salt. Everything just tasted so salty. I thought maybe it was me but my companion reacted the same. Not sure if it is just the way people eats here or the chefs palate was off that day. The kitchen should watch their seasoning with salt as they put it way too much, over powering the taste of the other ingredients. What a pity...
This place is awesome the atmosphere is amazing and so is the food. Customer service is also wonderful I was treated with respect & they were very kind thanks!
The bar is awesome and the bartenders are really cool.
We were pleasantly surprised by how good the breakfast was. I would certainly go out of my way to get the corned beef here again and they make their mimosas the way me and my wife like em, very light on the OJ.
Best cocktail I’ve ever had, burger is good too.
Great atmosphere, service and food was delicious. Perfect for a family meal or a business meeting
Great to have this place back open. It was nice to see familiar faces like Mack!
Great lunch/brunch spot with tons of bar seating
Excellent service, great food (with gluten free options), beautiful place ~ a must visit while in Boston
I got a great service from the beautiful setting. The menu choices were great, and the food was delicious.
The staff was wonderful, the environment was good, but the food was only okey. Although Im writing about it here, Id not write home about it.
Mmm yummy lobster roll!
Always like to stop in for a libation and the atmosphere. Beautiful place.
The food here is at another level post the pandemic. I believe they have a new chef and a new menu and I must say that the change has done wonders.
Best breakfast in Boston. Get the baked beans.
Drinks are expensive as you would expect oh, there seems to be a lot of service staff working there. We ordered a couple laps at the bar and they came very quickly, although they were very tiny! We ordered the spiced nuts oh, and theyre about three tablespoons! I mean I didnt expect a big bowl of course but as soon as I looked at them I was embarrassed to even take a bite because it was hardly enough to share. But its a historic place, and if you have money to burn, then by all means its a place for you
My group of co-workers and I were celebrating results out on the town. We finished the evening at the Oak Long Bar at the Fairmont. Beautiful space and the staff were very attentive. They made space for our group of 10 and were very accommodating for our late walk-in. I had the Banshee Mordecai which was a delicious red blend. I then saw a drink being served at the bar which I had to try. The Smoked Chai Manhattan was one of the best drinks which I have had. Thank you.
Great bar for a few drinks & excellent service.
Lobster pizza 🍕 😋
Beautiful space, good food and nice service
Great vibe for day drinking
I love the ambient at this place. Classy and fun place for dinner and/or drinks.
Stunning place to have some drinks and a meal! My husband and I sat at the love seat at the bar. We had the burger (on point! Love the homemade pickles), Madame Croque, and drinks of course. The staff was attentive and friendly. We could have relaxed here and drank all day. Thank you for the lovely day date!
Nice interior and atmosphere, but disappointed by the food, especially at the price point.
Oh honey! I only come here for the bread and honey butter. But the drinks are spectacular, the ambiance is serene and the decor is opulent. The manager is a sweetheart and the bar tender knows what he is doing. One of my favorite places in Boston so far.
In my opinion, this place has gone way downhill from a service standpoint in the past year, whether or not it was due to a change in their general manager. Some works friends and I went here for our annual holiday lunch (Dec. 23rd), and the bartender was grumpy from the onset. I had a problem with my reservation and asked to speak to the restaurant manager. He never came. I asked again 15 minutes later, and he never came. An our into our lunch, we asked again to speak to him and he finally arrived 1 1/2 hours after our original complaint. He listened intently to the concerns we expressed about the lack of service and he simply said, sorry about that. There was zero real interest in making us happy. I even went to the hotel front desk to ask to speak to the hotel manager but they simply sent out the front-desk manager. I got the impression that they are getting a lot of complaints. Their apathetic attitude is problematic. We dropped several hundred at the restaurant this month - and a relative dropped several hundreds of thousands there for a wedding recently. There are plenty of other places for our next event, as we wont be going back. Its actually a lovely bar area and in a prime location. The food was decent enough, nothing great. It was our experience with the staff that make us feel strongly that we will avoid it in the future.
Great atmosphere. Good drinks. We had nuts and olives. Spiced nuts were amazingWould have been a five-star review but for some reason it took forever for a wait person to come take our order.
Hostess was wonderful and very accommodating. The drinks were a little too sweet. Monkey bread is delicious and had a great flavor. Some of the food came out kind of cold. Server seemed a bit too busy.
Excellent everything- ambiance, service and food. Can’t say enough good things about the revamped Oak Bar.
It is a classic you have to go
Excellent breakfast in a safe atmosphere. The architecture in this place is amazing.
Very good food and excellent service and very relaxing. Severs are very nice and cooperative.Thanksgiving meal the Turkey and pot roast very good.loved everything about the place.
I really liked this place, the ambiance and the drinks. Nice place to hang out and have a cocktail or two. However wait staff was not friendly and a couple of times chided us for being in the way. We were simply hanging around at the bar. Either they are understaffed, overwhelmed or just rude. That was the only damper in the experience. Else a very tasteful place to hang out at!
This was such a treat! The atmosphere is cozy and luxurious - try to sit at the end of the bar near the fireplace in winter. We just came in for a glass of wine and a Boston Cream Pie and were delighted with the atmosphere. The dessert was delicious! Beautiful ceiling too.
We were recommended to try the Manhattans at the bar. They were outstanding, but very pricy. Although you actually get about 2 drinks out of one. The goat cheese and beet salad was superb as well, and the staff is excellent! Great service.
Great experience. The service was awesome.
Great drinks with wide selection and attentive bar tenders. The ambience is great. I felt comfortable in jeans, yet someone in much more formal attire could also fit in nicely.
Great lobster roll, relaxed ambiance. Menu is limited for breakfast, they only do brunch on weekends. Also the service could be a bit more polished.
Great food
Popped in here to grab a bite after Boston Marathon. The food was great drinks were great as well. The feel was awesome and cheerful. The waitress I believe her name was Lidiya and spoke Russian, went above and beyond in her service amidst the surge in diners. Would definitely recommend. Keep up the great work. Thank you
It shouldnt be but it is challenging to find a place where you can get a great drink in a beautiful but comfortable setting and have some pleasant conversations with the bartender and other customers. This is the place. I had a wonderful time and much of it was because of Anthony at the bar. Decor and setting will only take a bar so far. Its the genuine warmth of the staff that keeps you coming back.
Great atmosphere for getting together with your girlfriends and having a cocktail. Always a good mix of people, so its also fun if youre solo and want to people watch a bit. Be sure to check out smaller space in back if you want a more intimate setting.
Not bad but very underwhelming. For the price just expected more from all angles; service/wait staff, ambiance/vibe and from quality of food.Drinks however were 5 stars, but not worth the price. 24 $s for a Smoke Chai Manhattan (w knob creek rye ntm), youd hope the waiter could at least wait for my girlfriend to get her phone out for the show, however he could have been a magician as his haste was like slight of hand he was so quick to get it over with. Has all of the ingredients to be 5 stars, but it is a hotel bar essentially and it certainly felt like that w the wedding party barreling to the bar every few minutes.
Went for breakfast to a visitor. The food was delicious with a typical high end American breakfast menu. However, service was disappointing and slow: water wasnt refilled and the restocking 8 buckets of ice at the bar at 8am made it hard to have a quiet conversation over breakfast
Huge bar. Interesting people watching. Good food and service. Nice place to sit at the bar get some apps and a cocktail and watch the people.
Great for brunch
Nice ambiance, meh food. You could do better, you could also do worse. Three stars!
The bar here is so gorgeous that I would come for it alone. Stepping into the restaurant/kitchen area is like stepping into a begone era of decadence with its high ceiling, decorated walls and big leather bar seats. Ive only been to the bar for drinks and snacks and can highly recommend both. We ordered bread expecting the usual crispy cut slices but got a freshly pan baked loaf smothered in butter - very delicious! The staff are amazingly attentive and friendly as well.
I have been to the Oak Long Bar on several occasions but mostly for an evening cocktail. The atmosphere (and the cocktails) is always relaxing and enjoyable. The few meals Ive had at there have been equally enjoyable. While the menu isnt as extensive as other places, the entrees Ive had were expertly prepared and served with care and attention. Their signature bread is baked to order and served with a homemade honey butter crafted with honey from their own bee farm. Its worth the wait and the carbs even for the most dedicated keto-ite.
