It is a wonderfully crafted place showcasing the artistic side of the Bhutanese culture in Bodhgaya. It looked extremely sophisticated and rich in details in comparison to the austerity of the Japanese temple on the other side of the road.According to the time of the year, you can find cheap rooms for pilgrims or for simple people to stay for the night. Some of the monks there unfortunately do not speak English.

This Monastery is situated near Mahabodhi temple in Bodhagaya. It was built on the order of Bhutan king. Like all the buddhist temples in Bodhagaya, it also very beautiful and peaceful. You will love the atmosphere of this place. Architectural beauty of the monastery is mesmerizing and worth capturing in the camera.

Thai Monastery is a must-see travel destination in Bodh Gaya (Bihar). It is the only Thai Monastery all over India. It is a historic monastery that was built by the Monarch of Thailand in 1956. After gaining the permission from the then Prime Minister late Pt. JL Nehru, this monastery was constructed in Bodh Gaya. Its construction had 2 motives behind it- expansion of Buddhism in India and strengthening the bond between India and Thailand.Thai Monastery is famous for its traditional Thai architecture. The golden tiles cover the sloping roof of the monastery. A 25-meter-high idol of Buddha in a seated position is installed in the main prayer hall. The interiors are beautifully decorated with the smaller sculptures of Buddha in different forms. The monks are often spotted meditating in the prayer hall in a large number.Thai Monastery is a religious place. It is open to the devotees of all faiths and thus, people visit here on a huge scale. There is no special time or season for visiting Thai Monastery. No entry fee is charged from the visitors. All pilgrims are allowed to participate in the meditation and other Buddhist rituals. You can participate in the prayers and meditation.Bodh Gaya city has a huge web of roadways, railways, and airways. Such connectivity makes it easier to reach it by luxury buses, broad gauge trains, and flights from anywhere in Bihar. Commuting within Bodh Gaya is done by the local transit.Gaya Railway StationGaya Airport

The monastery is within the restricted area, next door to the Nipponji Indosan Monastery. The external architecture is typical Bhutanese, I think, but what takes your breath away are the 3 Dimensional murals adorning the walls inside, depicting the many events of Buddhas life.A small piece of advice for travellers wanting to go more into the depths of stories behind the murals that adorn the walls of all these monasteries. Apparently you can hire a guide close to the Mahabodhi Temple, who would take you around many of these monasteries and give you details.
