I did not give this company permission to sell my information to every third rate self-publishing company in the world. And yet they did anyway.I also worked here for 7 years. Its a complete and utter scam company. They also lie about their US employment numbers but hiring out to the Philippines but listing those people as working in America. Seems illegal to me.Use Amazon if youre going to self-publish.
The process is a disaster. It has taken me a year to finish because of multiple problems within Author Solutions. I counted 14 different people that I had to talk to and they rarely talk to each other. Countless frustrations along the way. Early on in the process people are literally reading a script for every answer that they give. There have been 2 people that actually seem to care and help me. However sometimes even they take a week to respond to an email.
Please look into c-3011822 SO-90140937It was published in 2018. I got into a dispute with author solutions because I was misled about the final retail price of what my book would sell for. Then after I recovered most of my money back because my credit card company agreed it was misrepresentation from author solutions. I wanted out of my contract. I was told by author solutions that I had to pay what I got back from the credit card company. I asked for a reduction since Author solutions didn’t fulfill the indigo part of the contract. I was told by someone from there who I can provide their name that I had to pay for indigo package even though I never received it to get out of contract. Therefore, I got nothing from author solutions except to pay almost $5,000. But now owe $1,436.01 to get out of my contract. Please advise who I can contact from author solutions so I can get out of contract and not have to pay this $1,436.01 when author solutions misled me and didn’t fulfill the indigo part and I just want out. I lost enough money and heart ache from this experience. My book was meant to help people and I got so burned.
Balboa Press is a division of Hay House but both companies are under Author Solutions. I paid nearly $2,000 to Balboa Press but never submitted my manuscript. Since they never worked on my behalf I requested a full refund and the Balboa Press Director EUGENE HOPKINS who calls himself the end of the line was laughing at me refusing to issue a FULL REFUND. It took from 12/4/19 to 1/14/20 to get a taunting response from Eugene Hopkins. The staff said they would have the issue resolved then ignored all of my calls and emails in between that time period until I started calling again. All staff in between my project manager Kristine Dale and the end of the line Eugene Hopkins ignored all of my emails and voicemails.
They work to their own timetable which they do not share with their clients. Always asking for more money and do not like taking NO for an answer. I have given up completing the monthly review which is the same old questions. Comments do not seem to be acted upon. Telephone appointments not adhered to.Thats enough for now.
I published a book with them and they didn’t reveal the final price to the bookstores/public until the very end. I wished I didn’t publish with them. So disappointing. My life’s work. I got some of my money back, except 2/3. I tried to work it out with them because now my book is no longer available and I got nothing for it. They never came through on the indigo package neither since we went into dispute. I Cannot tell you how upsetting it has been for me.
As a novice, inexperienced and obviously naive author, I was duped by Author Solutions. They operate MANY self-publishing firms, including LIFERICH, which is owned by Reader’s Digest. Too late, I learned they are well known for taking a writer’s money, then abandoning them. They did just that to me. My manuscript was repeatedly denied for frivolous reasons, even after changes were made. This was over a nine-month period, and when I woke up and requested a refund, they stated “no refunds after six months”. WRITERS BEWARE!!!!
Author Solutions is a parent company of many sister concerns including Partridge, and they are duping budding authors from all around the world by promising nice and attractive publishing packages. Their modus operandi is providing exemplary service before pocketing your money, and then keep on changing terms and commitments to suit their own needs, and often, claiming extra money unlawfully by various false pretences. In case you want to walk out after getting disgusted with the adverse experiences, they are gonna charge an exorbitant price for doing so. It’s a complete lose-lose situation for us to deal with this horrible company and its subsidiaries.
They treat their employees like garbage, favoring the sales team (outrageous bonuses, a switch in the break room, exotic vacations) who proceed to outright lie to customers about what to expect and what their package offers. The other employees get incentives like $5 gift cards on occasion that they are taxed out of their paychecks for, while dealing with (understandably) angry authors who arent getting what they are promised because its not actually what their package offers. They are also forced to call people multiple times a week, even when said author is in a phase where their book is being edited by the company or checked for photo permissions and they cant work on it, or the employee is fired. Management is a joke, some dont even tell their employees when food is delivered. Mason and Sara are 2 of the worst, writing people up for things they were just informed of an hour ago when they couldnt possibly get that thing done.THIS COMPANY IS A DUMPSTER FIRE AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.Archway publishing, lulu self publishing, and the like are all run out of this office or the Philippines (where most of the imprints are headed) because of cheap labor.Never use author solutions, its a waste of your time and money and employees are just as frustrated with your book as you are, because they are told very specific things while the sales team is paid very well to tell you blatant lies.
Dont use Xlibris to publish your book. This parent company is set up in the Philippines using second language people who in the end dont read English well. I had many mistakes that were made and some so obvious an eight year old would see it. Secondly they took 6 months to get it finished. Why? Because they handed it around to so many groups and people that i never knew who was in charge. They would ask the same questions from another group of reviewer a month later. My second book i used an American company. I talked constantly with one person. Done correctly in one month. Filipinos seem disorganized and poorly trained. That is what you get for shipping things off shore for cheaper wages. My book is finally out there. Your Path to Learning English Idioms Lets see if they know how to get it marketed without always asking for money.tim sauder
Self Publish is the answer, Xlibris didnt do a thing for me and I was charged 200.00 on a service I never received not one thing.WHY?.. definitely suing ..these corporate companies are not for decent people.
Great company for potential publishers!!!
The dont take me as an author and one of the worst publishing company in the USA
Do you wont your book on my shelf?
Very unethical and unreliable service
Awesome!
Not for me
