Wonderful memorial to the time of the Germany wall and the history of the German people during the separation. Lets never forget.
Great place to visit very informative and quite scenic
Most interesting place to visit! You can learn from German history and see lots of military material from the post-war era including a tank, helicopters and halftrack etc. Highly recommended to visit also the outdoor area with the remains of the ”antifasistische Schutzwall”.DDR was such a joke for a country eventhough the onces living there weren’t laughing. Citizens had to be locked in to prevent them to escape the madness!
Its soo interesting for people who want to learn about what happend , DDR and RBD a loot of history .... amazing storys that still effect our world 🌎 intle today , point Alpha was soo fun to visit ... 💝💝💝💝
Excellent Musem. A lot of great exhibits in the Musem building. The exhibits in the American camp are interesting as well. I enjoyed seeing parts of the old border wall and the guard towers. For someone who was not there and was six when the easy fell it gives a good idea of what the border was like.
If you want to see and feel the separation of Ost und West Germany, you have to see this. Parra of the Wall, Towers from Ost and West, some US Army vehicles.

It was great to get some of the history first hand from my First unit in the Army. Till now, it was all stories from older veterans and another time. Having been there and seeing it first hand, I know better understand their comments.
Impressive historical site! This is the former US army observation post overlooking the Fulda gap, which was widely believed to be the mostly likely attack route of Soviet troops , if the cold war had ever turned hot. What I found most impressive is the fact that this is the actual site, with the original watchtower, barracks, flagpole, guard houses, etc. overlooking the area where the iron curtain border used to be. So you get a feeling of being there, immersed in history. There is an exhibition that puts the site into historical context and throughout the camp there are military vehicles on display, including a tank, an armored personnel carrier, and two helicopters. Definitively worth a visit!
History of the Cold War, excellently summarized. Learnt a great deal. Could have spent the whole day there. Have to come back in the near future to learn more.
Great place where history comes alive. A must see if you are interested in the history surrounding the Cold War.
Very interesting to see this remnant from the cold war. It consist of an American listening post by the old border to east. The border fences and a east guard post is also there. 6€ for the exhibition otherwise free to walk around. Terrible to see what measures they took to keep people locked in.
Very nicely preserved piece of history. Worth the visit if time permits and youre traveling nearby.
Soooo Cool. It was truly special to walk in the steps of history.
This was a very interesting museum. The photos and information was very insightful.
Great place. Lots of information, and theyve got a Huey. I love Hueys
Everyone knows about Checkpoint Charlie, but there were other ways into East Germany when there was a wall. The museum shows what life was like and the challenges the locals on both sides faced.
Small but SO much history. Very exciting to see.
A very interesting piece of history. Really brought you back to the cold war.
Served at OP Alpha back in the bad old days and would love to take my kids here and show them what pops did and where I served.
Never there, but a little NW of there. Some said that Davy Crockett was King of the Fulda Gap!
History at its finest

Super
German history you can touch. How was it back then on the border between Germany and the Federal Republic of Germany? The museum on the border is a must-see, as it gives an impression of how the people of the East were locked up in their own little country back then. The Way of the Cross on the Kolonnenweg is also very impressive. And on the house of the border there is also an inconspicuous old boundary stone from the 19th century. It shows where the limit really was.
A museum, memorial which deals with the recent German history. On the one hand border stories from East Germany, on the other hand from West Germany, each shown by contemporary witnesses and exhibits. For € 8.00 / adult entry to 2 museums and anyone interested in the division or reunification of Germany is welcome to take a look.
Well, I was originally up there with my brother-in-law to go to the Urals. On the way back, a coffee stop was announced at the border house. We met a contemporary witness by chance, it was a farmer from the neighboring village on the west side, he had 3 fields that he was suddenly no longer allowed to cultivate, he showed us things in the exhibition and explained that it was great that he had people and soldiers partly knew personally in the pictures. The American area is also very interesting and informative. But all in all its a strange feeling, I was born in 73 and practically grew up with it. My first atlas from 1984 only consisted of the FRG and West Berlin, the rest was just a black spot. As a child that was funny, but later I realized something different. To say to the staff in the border house and the Amissei: BIG PRAISE! YOU ARE SUPER FRIENDLY, ALWAYS HAVE A FLEET Slogan OR A SUPER EXPLANATION!
Very, very interesting and very well appointed. Here one can only see the horrors of the cold war, the results of the war and the pain of the separation / division of an entire country. I recommend visiting the museum, even if it is small. In addition we can relive history. Ideal for schools and anyone interested in European history.Everything is very well explained and we can touch. Site strongly recommended by me. Thanks to those who take care of it and maintain it.
Although I still know the GDR as a real state, I was never there or at the border until the fall of the Wall. Was there for the first time between the fall of the Wall and the reunification.I only knew the border barriers from films and the Berlin Wall.It is frightening / oppressive to experience this live - even if only on a small scale. The same goes for the stories in newspapers.
After my visit, I am overwhelmed by the flood of information. This is due to the very good exhibitions and the two tour guides. If offered, take the tour of the command tower. And the tour through the exhibition also whetted the appetite for more. That was definitely not the last visit.
Very interesting.
Sollte von jeder Schulklasse mal besucht werden. Sehr anschaulich!
An interesting and essential aspect of German history, at the moment the toilet is closed unless you pay € 8 for admission to the museum.(July 2021)
Should be looked at. A little time is also needed for this
I found the exhibition very impressive. If I go there again I would definitely want to do a guided tour. We were able to listen to a tour a little, it all sounded very interesting with a lot of additional information.
Eintrittspreis: Erw. 8€, Erm. 6€, Fam. 22€
Informative exhibition moderately attended. No matter how much can be shown, understand this madness if you want. But just like today, fences represented arrogance.Everyone should be able to vote with their feet and not on paper.
Very interesting and important memorial.Clearly presented memory. Also suitable for children and young people (approx. 12 years and over).Even if youve witnessed the time, its hard to imagine after 30 years.Unique!!!Very friendly and nice staff on the premises.
It was nice here again, should be seen. History presented in a modern way. And so important to pass this story on.
Impressive and depressing at the same time
Great border museum
Great museum, experiences about the GDR and the border strip
Worth seeing and educational.Although Point Alpha is a bit remote, a trip there is recommended. The entire memorial is largely barrier-free. Disabled parking spaces and toilets are available. In any case, I recommend booking a guided tour.Everything is explained in detail here and questions are gladly answered. The tour begins inside, with a little history, and then continues outside. An electric wheelchair is an advantage here, as meadows and gravel have to be negotiated. The memorial is rather unsuitable for children and sensitive people, as it deals very intensively with all facets of history.Overall very successful and recommendable.
Always interesting how it was back then.
Former border fence between East and West Germany, interesting, sad that something like this has taken place
A memorial to German history. This is where it began and where it ended. Here it is shown why Europe ended here.
Here the border is made visible again. Many information boards provide very good information.
Radiates calm. Fill us with gratitude that the terrible border is gone. Wonderful view of nature! Always worth experiencing
A very informative and educational memorial. It is advisable to come here, especially when the weather is good, to take in the system outside.
Interessant.
A great little volunteer-run museum about Point Alpha about the history of the division of Germany, about the occupiers and inner German up close and personal. In addition to a piece of the original border section with the American observation tower and the small barracks with some interesting vehicles and helicopters, barracks and a replica gas station, there is a lot to see here for little money. The exhibition is designed in small parts and laboriously. We recommend.
Very interestingly conveyed German history
A very interesting facility for visitors interested in recent German history. We stayed there for about 4 hours.
Very interesting, you have to visit it once.
You get goose bumps here
Sehr interessant. Lohnenswert. Interessant aufbereitete deutsch-deutsche Geschichte
An essential part of German history - a visit is definitely worth it.
It is a very interesting facility mainly in the form of an open air museum. However, there is a lack of technology on the East German side, e.g. B. trucks, tanks, motorcycles, helicopters and others. The GDR also had vehicles that were used on the border. I found it very interesting to see both sides. Its part of our story. Please dont forget that.
A place with history. I think everyone should look at this monument to understand what it means to not be able to live democracy.
Worthwhile !!! Bring some time with you and pay attention to the ground, in some areas it is a map, not all of us have noticed.
A very interesting place to learn something from German history
