According to the prevalent legend, the king of Chudangagada was a devout worshipper of Lord Lingaraja. He used to visit Lingaraja every day. Since it was not possible to commute to Lingaraja during the rainy seasons the lord advised him in a dream to construct a temple in the centre of a neighboring lotus pond where the lord himself dwells as a Jalasayi. The King complied with the desire of the lord by constructing the present temple, which is located on the western embankment of the Jalesvara pond. To conduct the rituals and other associated activities of the temple the King gave land grants to the Brahmins of Rahanga sasan and other Sevayatas. Hence the place is known as Kalarahanga. It was completed in 12th century A.D.

The 800+ years old architectural genius of this little know Shiva temple is evident right at its beautiful entrance. Unfortunately the Odisha Architectural Survey & Odisha Govt have done a apathetic job at cleanliness of the Jaleswar Temple.

An ancient temple probably from 13th or 14th century situated to the north of village Kalarahanga, is a holy shrine of Lord Shiva. A small but clean watered lake touches the temple and is believed to be sourcing water from deep inside the earth. Not many people are aware of the fame of the Hindu heritage sight. A small colony of priests (Brahmins) reside around the temple who are believed to be camped by the king who built this monument. The local villagers volunteer for every festival organized here. I recommend this place as a must visit place if you belong to Hindu community.

A great place of ancient heritage which only a few people know about. It has a pond alongside the temple. The place has a huge parking but the area in which the temple is situated is relatively small. The place is peaceful. The roads leading to the temple are a bit narrow, bikes and cars can go, but you would find it difficult to reach the place in a bus. To reach the temple in public transport, you have to reach near Kiit square through Mo Bus or auto from there you have to take an auto. The distance fron kiit to the temple is around 3 Km. Or you can reach the Patia Station in passenger train and from there you can take a auto for 1.5 km or even you can walk in a pleasant day.

Its a really old temple, situated inside the Kalaranga village. One can go to the temple after crossing patia station and towards the new kalarang electric substation. Has a big open space outside of the temple for parking vehicles, there is a shop for all puja items outside of the temple. Temple compound is well maintained and of good size. Its made in old lingaraj temple style architecture. Has a mangala maa temple too inside the compound. It also has a big pond at the backyard of the temple. Really good Shiva temple to visit.

A fine architectural specimen , on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar city. A must see for architecture lovers and Siva devotees alike. This temple has a mythological story around it which is proudly told and retold by locals and priests alike. There is an open elevated deul inside the main complex. The complex comprises of 5 main temples and few smaller ones. There is a serene lake adjoining the north side wall of the complex. Offbeat and difficult to reach. Best time to visit is perhaps dawn and dusk due to light effects Sun plays on the temple shrine. There are few annual fairs around the temple complex during Lord Siva festivals (e.g. Shivaratri) and it is in itself a unique experience visiting the place in that time.
