The place is beautiful but could have been maintained better. Caretakers are not friendly and I wouldn’t call the place clean. But it’s good if you ignore the mess and enjoy the history.

It stands amidst the luxuriant gardens and fountains, the arches of this red sandstone structure is beautifully festooned with floral motifs. Head to this lovely monsoon spot and enjoy greenery on both sides of the road while driving.

It’s situated in Islamnagar which is 11 km from Bhopal. It is built by Dost Mohammad Khan is red stone structure. This palace has become by and large ruined place having Mughal water garden and hamam. It’s sad that it is not very well maintained. The once beautiful gardens which is surrounded the palace is slowly deteriorating.Every where there is garbage and plastic .Govt and common people should seriously think of maintaining this once a beautiful place.

Chaman Mahal built by founder of Bhopal Dost Mohammad in the Islam Nagar fort is a beautiful synthesis of Malwa-Mughal architecture. It is lavishly decorated with floral motifs. A beautiful charbagh garden with pools and fountains surrounds the palace. The fountains and the fine Hamam baths though no longer filled with fragrant water still remind one of the flamboyance of a bygone era.

Such a beautiful and serene place outside the city. This was the capital of Bhopal state when Dost Mohammad khan conquered it and was previously called Jagdishpur. The architecture is a blend of Mughal and rajput style which makes it unique. It is sad tht it is not very well maintained and might soon be lost to us. So visit it before it is gone with the wind

Chaman Mahal is a typical site of Islamnagar Fort, Sheesh Mahal, Mughal Gardens, Baradari and Shahi Hamam are situated in the premises of Chaman Mahal. The Chaman Mahal was built by Sardar Dost Mohammad Khan in 1715, as you know that Sardar Dost Mohammad Khan was an Afghan soldier or robber who snatched Jagdishpur from the Gond kings by deceit and gave it the name of Islamnagar and later Bhopal. By capturing it, Bhopal also became the founder of the princely state. The main gate of Chaman Mahal is a symbol of Malwa and Mughal style, this palace is surrounded by boundary wall and has two entrances, as soon as you enter through the main gate, you see a building made of glass, which is called Sheesh Mahal. It is said that the Nawabs used to sit and play chaupad here. It is a very airy and magnificent building. From here the Chaman Mahal and its baradari look very beautiful. The full Mughal Garden is visible in which there are beautiful water fountains and the whole garden is divided into 4 beautiful parts,In front of the Mughal Garden is the Baradari of the palace, in which Dost Mohammad Khan used to organize important meetings, dance and music programs, in this the meeting of the Nawab, built by carving edge jaalis, is also established, in one part of the palace is the royal Mughal hammam, where Natural lighting has been arranged using the rules of Vastu, special arrangements were made for hot and cold water, the water was heated by a special cistern in the hammam and steam bath could also be done from it, it also had a makeup room. situated at.Chaman Mahal is a two-storey building from the front and three-storeyed from the back, in which a big room on the ground floor, Baradari and Shahi Hamam and Shringar room on the first floor and Muktakash on the second floor, beautiful umbrellas have been constructed at both the corners of the palace, from here The wonderful view of the Patara river flowing behind the palace and the surrounding greenery and natural scenery is worth seeing.Since it was earlier ruled by Gond Rajputs, the architecture of this palace is a mixed form of Rajput style as well as Mughal and Malwa style. Red sandstone, Kakaiya brick and lime etc. have been used in its construction.
