A beautiful and modern museum. The facility is well worth visiting as a tourist or resident. There is a very nice and stylish cafe on the first floor.
Very nice museum. Well-curated with lots on interesting information posted in English as well as Turkish.Very worthwhile for 25TL (discounts for teachers and students).
It’s an interesting place. It’s not too big — it took us an hour to check put everything. I found the sections with modern art the most impressive.
İt was a nice museum to visit, Ive been there only once but i dont feel like i got hocked up by it, i doesnt have a soul, its like a nice place to see art works, but i was very surprised by the little entrance :/ you cant feel the greatness of it.. but overall everything changes you know inside of it so it might be my chance, i totally recommend that you look for the theme before you go any pay so you can enjoy your visit. ✨
Best museum we visited in Istanbul. For 25 there’s plenty of cool art to see and stories to read.
Its a very beautiful museum, well located close to İstiklal and therefore easy to reach. Their collection is very nice and the upper floors are for changing exhibitions. There is a kitsch exhibition right now.
Pera Museum is one of the important private museums of İstanbul. The permanent displays house paintings from leading late Ottoman period artists including Osman Hamdi Bey.Currently there is also an ink art exhibition of Chinese artists. The coffee house at the entrence serves good coffee and delicious pastries.
Nice tiny museum in Beyoglu, Istiklal road area. The Osman Hamdi bey masterpiecs is here.I like this museum.
Free visit on Friday at 4pm to 6pm. 5 floors, could be done in 1.5 hours on a leisurely place. Very organized place and they have clean WCs.. Cafe was closed due to COVID restrictions
One of the best art museums Ive ever seen. Every exhibit is a story, very good text accordance and you in fact dont need an audio guide if you speak English or Turkish. Ive been there a week ago and still think about some ideas that were brought there.
Interesting art in a great building. The ambient pieces playing on the 4th floor was fantastic.
The Pera Museum, which opened its doors in early June 2005, is the first step of a comprehensive cultural endeavor that the Suna and Inan Kiraç Foundation has launched at this distinguished venue in the city for the purpose of providing cultural service on a variety of levels.
This museum is really worth to spend 2 hours to explore, the exhibition about coffee history and trade help you to have a better understanding of turkey
This museum is legit. Entrance is 25 Lira for adults and there are multiple floors with really cool exhibits. When I went in September 2020, they had a really interesting exhibit about Albanian propaganda art which was awesome. Nice, clean museum with good air con and lots of COVID preventative measures in place.
Modern and classic art in 5 floors. There are cafe and store
Well designed exhibitions and spacesThe photo is for a temporary exhibition
This museum is nice if you have an hour or so to kill while you’re around the area. When I was there, only two of the exhibit floors were open to visitors. I felt like it wasn’t enough. However, there were nice pieces I didn’t expect seeing there. The entry price is only 10 tl. I just wish there was more to see.
Surprisingly interesting museum. We were lucky to visit during the Bienale for free. The admission is 40 TL
This museum was amazing. A far better art museum than the nearby Istanbul Modern. Tickets are super affordable, the exhibits are super interesting, and theres a very nice cafe on the entrance floor. Seriously, skip the Istanbul Modern and go to the Pera.
Very interesting and a must see when in Istanbul. The most interesting part is that it covers 3 diffrent themes in the same museum
A biy unusual, but really interesting. Albanian floor need something more to be more interesting to a tourist..The movie about Fadike....no comments good and bad bothCanan installations are really inspiring

Super biennale exhibition! :)
This hotel is incredibly amazing!
Interesting museumWorth to visit during sunday
This museum has various collection inside. The artworks are accompanied with good descriptions.
I can definitely recommend to visit this museum
Great museum to spend your time in. Good exhibition design on 5 floors. Unfortunately the 3rd floor was closed when we visited the museum. Right now there is a great photo exhibition on the first and second floor! You should absolutely visit it
A great museum in the heartof Istanbul. Always something interesting to see and what good work done by the curators...
Only 75 people allowed at once due to Covid-19 pandemic so sometimes there is a que outside of the entrance. There are 4 floors and 4 different exhibition and they are pretty interesting, I would recommend any tourist to visit.
Nice small museum just a few steps from İstiklal. Wonderful on site Cafe. Very comfortable premises for both, the exhibition and the Cafe. Even the security is gentle. Unmissable.
A truly inspirational place with nice special exhibitions and an interesting shop. loved the istanbul‘s seaside exhibition - very well made!
The best museum to see contemporary art
Beautiful collection of art open since 2005
The museums Orientalist Painting Collection consists of works by European and Ottoman/Turkish artist, including works by Osman Hamdi Bey and his most famous painting, The Tortoise Trainer.
A wonderful collection of unusual master pieces. Enjoyed!
Friendly staff free of admission because of renovation, still lots of interesting things to see
Is a great place to see Turkish art.
The best museum
Nice enough
I really want to root for this nice, uncrowded museum is an wonderful old mansion. The xhibit on ambassadors was pretty great - beautiful art and great storytelling - worth the trip for that. but the rest of the museum was pretty sub par. There was an exhibit of VERY ordinary items used in trade, scales and such, of no real value and poorly presented - like being in a junk shop. That was okay. The photography exhibit in two floors looked like tourist snaps- but those were mixed in with wonderful photos of great importance - a visit to Turkey by the kaiser Wilhelm II - and other great stuff - but all under utilized and hidden among the nonsense. Not great curation or displays. This museum would be a D+ in most cities - in Istanbul it was B since there are not a lot of choices.
It took about an hour to go through all 4 floors of art. The building is well kept and clean, the staff are nice and the art is beautiful. I would for sure recommend this especially if youre in the area!
Very nice museum, with exeptional exhibitions and also some special programs like concerts
Outstanding museum. Thoroughly enjoyed both the contemporary art and permanent exhibitions here, especially the one on Istanbuls seaside history - it was so well-curated and interesting. Was also proud to see a slice of home in the exhibition featuring Singaporean photographers :) and of course you cant miss the famous Tortoise Trainer painting as well!
We thought this museum was way overrated. Way too many people and no air conditioning. Some of the art is in our opinion not art at all...We left after 10 minutes. Would personally not recommend as theres far better things to see in Istanbul.
Pera Museum is one of the well established Museum in Istanbul. The architecture is amazing and the collection is marvellous. Even if you do not like Turkish art you can go and see The Tortoise Trainer which is a milestone for Turkish painting. After seeing collection you can go to good museum cafe...
Amazing museum and they also have some special programs sometimes, so check that out
Took me about an hour to see the whole place. it has different levels. friendly staff. Different art pieces to see depending on the exhibition they have going on. i liked historic figures one. They also had clean toilets.
A tastefully curated museum that does a superb job of mixing traditional Turkish art with more modern artists. I was particularly impressed with the visiting exhibitions that featured innovative, modern artists. Definitely with the visit when you are in Istanbul.
Nice museum
The Pera museum is actually really worth it,its a nice museum full of History.I recommend a visit there to Any tourist coming to Istanbul.
I was here for Istanbul biennial so I have not seen museum. It was a great place for art show and there was a nice cafe too
This is a good cultural place but only the ones who are interested in arts especially photography.
This museum is located at the Pera district, one of the most historical parts of istanbul. They have excellent shows. Must see place.
I was here for the Istanbul Biennial and I will come more often. Their permanent collection is great for Turkish art. There is a cafe and the neighborhood is full of galleries and places to eat.
Im personally outraged how this has a higher rating than the National Palaces Painting Museum in Istanbul. This was quite small and about half the collection is items such as pottery and jewelry, not necessarily art in the strict sense of the word. If one only has limited time in Istanbul I would skip this destination unless pottery happens to be your interest.
I could give a full grade for its wheel chair user friendly facility. The mover at the ground floor and the elevator saved us to enjoy the museum. Every floor have a different theme, and I and my sister liked it. Not a big museum but full of interesting art pieces.
İt is a beautiful museum. Here you can see , the famous painting Tortoise trainer by Osman Hamdi Bey and his other works. Besides that on the other floor the exhibitions are changing all the time.
It is very historical placeit was quite pleasing to live such a good artistic experience by my side
Pera Museum is in the heart of the city, Taksim. It is my one of favorites. They have 2 permenant exhibitions and other floors are for temporary ones. The building is a renovation of Bristol Otel built in 1893. Definitely worth to see it.
Very nice Greeks have left very beautiful pieces. Pitty for Turkish public opinion they dont know the real history of the area.
A fascinating mix of historic artefacts, traditional arts, important paintings and modern art can all be found in the superb Pera Musuem – a private museum in a stately 19th century building that was once the historic Hotel Bristol, designed by the architect. There are three permanent exhibitions at the Pera Museum.1. Orientalist Paintings2. Anatolian Weight and Measures3. Kütahya Tiles and CeramicsThe Pera Museum hours are from Tuesday-Saturday 10am-7pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm. Admission costs 20 TL. On Friday evenings between 6pm-10pm it is free for all visitors in what Pera Musuem calls Long Fridays.
Weird entrance policy via the Bienal. Bienal expo was just ok. But the must see of the museum was the allocated space for Osman Hamdi bey. Very touching and fitting to a true great of his times. The virtual reality section of the turtle trainer was a unique experience. Highly recommended
One of the best museum in Istanbul. You have to see this museum. Don’t miss it!!
What I miss most about a pandemic...
What an amazing museum. If you can only visit one museum in Istanbul, I would highly recommend the Pera Museum. It has a great space and layout, their exhibitions rock, and their staff is very friendly!
Istanbuls finest! I always drop by Pera when I am Istanbul. I am looking forward to coming again and again.
We stubbled upon this gallery and saw the Grayson Perry exhibition. Perfectly narrated.
Wonderful collection with good interpretive signage. Convenient location near Istiklal Street.
I went one to Pera museum there was a Biennial event there, the place was nice and calm, nice place to visit .
Went there on a Friday after 18:00, when the entrance is free until 22:00! Well-curated museum with informative exhibits. Also a great museum if youre into modern art.
Cafe has very good food and one of the best Sebastian i had.
The Tortoise Trainer! One of the only classical painting collections in the city! Often a thoughtful exhibit!
Private museum with small but interesting exhibitions related to Istanbul and its history. Elegant café if youre looking for a quiet place to read or converse in style.
