First of all, I loved the fact that they served in steel plates. It gave me a major nostalgia about my home and the flavours were also amazing. Loved the dosas, idlis and ofcourse different flavoured chutneys. Defintely visiting again soon :)Also the interior is beautifully decorated with wonderful art pieces and miniatures from India. 😊👍🏻🇮🇳 Made me wish I was in India.
Visited the place based on the reviews and rating. The seating style outside is really cool, gives you the feeling of having something on the highways of India (dhabas).Ordered Dosa, idly, wada, samosa chat, masala chai and lemonade.Dosa is one of the best dosas in Berlin, the taste, the chutneys are really good, must try at least once.Idly wasn’t really the best that I had in Berlin, it could’ve been better.Wada was not availableSamosa chat was amazing. Very authentic and very flavorful. Must try at this place.Masala chai was also decent and can be tried for the experience.Lemonade was perfectSaw other people ordering thalis and enjoying it, so if you like thalis maybe give it a try. We wanted to have the breakfast food so we had the above listed items. It could be because of covid or for whatever reason, the service was very slow and going by the other reviews, seems like it has always been like that. The host/server lady was very kind and polite and was doing all the work by herself.
Best Indian food I had outside of India so far! Highly recommend the prawn curry, it’s a dream. The menu has a wide variety of freshly made and authentic food. The staff was also really friendly and made sure every guest is looked after.Well come again soon!
When you compare with prices, the portions are small. And less crew to order. Waiting time might be too long. But its so delicious.
Great food with some more spice than many Indian restaurants here. Easy going vibe and pretty busy. Booking in advance seems to be a wise idea, we snagged the last unreserved table and we arrived 15 mins after it opened.
Awesome place, amazing cocktails.Only wish that if they were representing dishes from Kerala on the menu, it would great to have Beef and parotta too something dearly missing from all Indian restaurants in Berlin for some absurd reason!
The have a very authentic Indian taste and a large variety of dishes, must go place in Berlin, its always crowded so please book a table beforehand thats why it takes time to serve the food but the wait is worthed.
The service was bad and disrespectful, the waiter had a very bad character and made us feel uncomfortable with his arrogance. we enjoyed the foodbut I would never go back to a place again.
Called, reserved a table, got the confirmation and when we reached they said we dont have a reservation and they never got a call. It was cold so we thought wed wait inside but were asked to wait outside in the cold by the bartender, even though there was space for us to sit at the bar. Poor service. Staff is rude except two girls, they were really nice to us. Would go but only because of them. Food is good.
Overpriced, not a great taste, small portions. Service is okay, decent. Wouldnt come again
Generous portions, good rice and lots of flavors. Not the cheapest tho. 8/10
Yes it’s a Little Bit pricy, but it’s also not the ‚normal indian food‘. It’s so so delicious! For me the best Indian food in Berlin! ❤️
The food was very tasty but the service and waiting time below the expectations.
The food is not bad, unfortunately the service was unfriendly and slightly arrogant. But the prices are outrageous. A bowl of rice with three chunks of meat 17 euros!? A bottle of water for 6 euros!? This is a common local, not a classy restaurant. Ridiculous
Chutnify had some highlights but in total was rather decent food. I really enjoyed the sauces around the dishes and especially the one in the middle of the second image (forgot what it was). The Mysore Masala was ok, but it could have had more flavor especially the filling (potatoes). Also ordered a cauliflower rice which was pretty sour and only with lots of sauce got to my taste buds. The service was good and I really liked sitting outside as this is super cosy and quiet. So in total I would go there again but I had higher expectations.
OMG the chicken dish is crazy, it’s soft and tender. They gives you the sauces that blow your mind. The staffs are friendly and the place is just cozy. I would def visit after the Corona time.P/s: They deliver super fast, my stuffs still hot and so delicious.
We tried Chicken Thali, Plain Dosa and mango lassi there.Thali was good a bit overpriced but overall taste was good. Lassi is overpriced as well.Plain dosa was the most basic dosa i ever had with just a little bit of chutney it costed us more than 8 euros. The cashier asked for a tip, i think its not nice. Customer should decide on it. And when you consider the price you should never ever ask for it.
Restaurant has a nice ambiance and food tastes good however it is way too expensive for the quantity and there is not much value for money.Dosas are nice but he chutneys given with them are literally a joke. They gave one tea spoon of chutney with dosa.Service was fast but table where we sat was rather very small and congested. This was first and last time visit for me.
Outstanding mix of north and south Indian dishes... The dosa was one of the best Ive eaten outside india...!!!And the curries are not the typical fare you get in Indian restaurants.. They reminded me of the home cooked curries from my mom.Definitely coming back when i visit Berlin again.
A small, cosy place (with terrace seating in light of COVID guidelines) that offers a delicious menu of desi food. The right amount of spices (not overdoing the chilli so you fall to your knees) in dishes of appropriate quantity.A key difference is that the taste is not one of commercially produced food, but that made at home for a guest.Dessert needs some improvement - while the chocolate samosa hits the right notes, the pastry could be better.Adding this to the favourites for repeat visits.
Food was decent as far as the idlies and dosas go. Everything was crispy and for the most part fresh and nice. What I just couldnt understand is the price for the portions. The dosas were absolutely not even close to being a full meal and the accompanying sambar and chutney were super limited and for a plain dosa not even a sambar as a side but a single chutney. The drinks menu is just ridiculously expensive to say the least. Overall, nice food but just exhorbidantly priced.
Food was quite good. Really liked the medhu vada! The vegan Thali was a bit too spicy (and i have a very high spice tolerance). Also we ordered the plain dosa as i have a milk allergy and it tasted super cheesy so i was afraid to eat it...
Great food! The dossa is wonderful
Server was nice.I ordered palak paneer and it didn’t taste anything like palak paneer.Food was on the bland side.Service was good though.
Cozy place with amazing food !
I loved their masala dosa. The mango lassi was ok. Nimbu Pani could be better. Not sure if this restaurant is run by south Indians.
I am not someone who normally writes reviews but this turned out to be an exception , an unfortunate one if I may say. I was at the restaurant today with my friend and ordered a curry , a naan, a cocktail(on the expensive side) , a dessert- all in all a normal meal that could be shared between two people. The waitress there got us just one serving plate and when asked for another(was it not obvious that we are two people??!!) she brought us a small one( which was not at all a plate for eating) - we found this extremely rude and disrespectful. When we arrived at the hotel , we were asked for a reservation and when we mentioned we didnt have one , we were asked to wait - to which we happily obliged. Once we started having our meal - in the middle of our meal we were asked to change tables to a smaller one - normally this would seem very disrespectful too but we obliged since it was not such a big deal for us - now, the problem was we were in the middle of our meal and there were other couples(two people) who just arrived after us and had not even received their food - they could have been asked to move but they were not, we were - inspite of being in the middle of our meal. I am not sure what the explanation here could be - other than the mere fact that we were Indians and others were Germans. I do not want to jump to conclusions but to me it seemed pretty obvious and I had to leave the place super embarassed. Never visiting there again!
Excellent food. Being a north indian, I can biryani and butter chicken are really good. I didnt like the south indian dishes much. Salty lassi is highly recommended. Giving 4 starts as service is a bit slow.
I’ve only tried their delivery so far, but it’s really really good (and fast) and they have great options for vegetarians. I came here from the UK and this is the closest to a Friday night curry I have come to in Germany. Unfortunately it’s much pricier though. // Edit: We went to eat in the restaurant, I added some pictures.
Finally a good indian place in Berlin. I had the korma and the daal and they were both lovely. Cant wait to go again and try more dishes!
Very good quality food and ingredients. Quite different and also superior to the average indian food aroiund the city. Very good mix of tastes.
Small dishes and very very expensive.Food is ok.
Very expensive and Biriyani is so spicy, not recommended for the people not into spicy food
Amazing food! Flavors were great
The ambience and interior are really nice. Service was ok, not too friendly but quite efficient. Food was really bland, one of the worst indian food I had and thats why I give only two starts. I was really disappointed. Especially after spending 50 € for two (2 starters and 2 sets). Definitely wouldnt go there again.
The food is excellent. Reminds me of my home :)
Ordered using Lieferando & this is the amount of Chutney you get from the restaurant called Chutnify 🤪The chutney bowl was half-full intentionally & the same goes about the Sambhar bowl.It seems they don’t really eat their meals themselves because we definitely felt that the portions for in-proportionate.3 stars for good taste & fine customer service.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Coming from the UK its been quite a while since weve had Indian food. We have tried many in Berlin and they were all terrible. Chutnify, by contrast, is true soul food. You can tell that the taste comes first here. We had only vegan dishes: idli, samosa chaat, korma and chana saag. The samosa chaat was just utterly gorgeous. Such depth of flavour, freshness and incredible texture. The idlis were also lovely, we had never tasted them before and they were so light and tasty, with the sauces and tamarind and coconut dips. The korma was truly the best Id had, not too sweet and perfectly creamy, with the spices infused masterfully. The chana saag was also lovely, apparently they will be adjusting it to be a little less spicy (we cant quite handle the heat ☺) so you will surely enjoy it. The rice, also, was perfectly cooked. And, a final nice détail: everything was packaged in cardboard, no unnecessary plastic which is a great bonus. Looking forward to coming back again. Would recommend ordering ahead to pick up, if you are local. If you are from. Berlin and thought you had tried good Indian food, you probably havent, but if you go here you will. Thanks Chutnify, you really made our day!
An absolute pleasure! Service is great, food is great, location is awesome. Will definitely come again and bring friends :)
I feel like Im back in Bengaluru. As far as I can tell, extremely authentic, delicious, and I did not find it too spicy at all. The podi and lamb dosa were excellent, spicy and very tender. As was the samosa and accompanying mango lassi. Some ingredients are even organic.Ambience is very cozy and comfortable, and the owners and service attentive and friendly. The only downside: the portion sizes. The plate is empty before you realize it.This directly feeds your soul.
Had to wait 45 mins for 2 plates of dosa...never knew that sambar contains okra 🤣🤣... coconut chutni was like a dessert dish. ..if you are looking for authentic indian food DONT visit..
Chutnify offers by far the best Indian food in Berlin. Most dishes are quite authentic. The best taste you have with the Idli and the Keema Paw. The Dosas are ok, but not as crispy as in India and also the chicken is not quite there yet. In general I can only recommend going there it is great! Make sure to reserve a table as it is always quite busy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a bit on the pricier side so reserve it for a special night out ;).
Hailing from a coastal city , nestled away on the west coast of south India, Idli sambhar and vada sambhar were pretty much what I ate for breakfast and tea time. Being in Germany for the past 2 years really made me miss the south Indian cuisine and after 2 years of sulking the food Gods have indeed heard my prayers.Tucked away in Prenzlauer Berg, right next to Husemannstraße is this gem of a place serving really good masala Dosas, idli and vada Sambhar and a few extras to add to the list like minced meat with bread( Kheema pav)and some typical south Indian Thalis.Right from the get go, The food just slaps you with awesomeness. Simple food at its best Id say.Berlin Has a whole lot of Indian restaurants which primarily tend to the European palate. But for those looking for a small authentic taste of south India make sure you drop by here as this joint does not compromise on flavour and then probably plan your next trip to south India. It certainly leaves you CHUTNIFIED!!!cheers!
The food was okay. The sambhar quantity is very less especially considering the high price. And extra sambhar cost almost same as the item(idli). The service was not good, while having meal, I thought of ordering another item, so I requested menu, but the person never came to take order.Overall, the food is tasty, but not worth the high price.
Some of the best Indian food in Berlin. The butter chicken is brilliant. We usually order more than we can eat for dinner and get the leftovers as takeaway for lunch the next day. Staff is super nice as well and their lemonades is fantastic and not too sweet.
Beautiful Indian themed interior, full of details, even the tables outside each have a different colourful tabletop. Friendly service & amazing music - tried shazamming a couple of songs but no success :( The food was delicious. Had the papadum mix starter. Could drink one of the chutneys if they’d give more of it. Other starter (can’t recall the name - let’s call it indian bruschettas) was full of flavour and freshness. Pomegranate added that little bit extra. The curries we had as a main were equally good. Highly recommend the place!
Thalia Chicken was very good. Although this is the most spicy dish, its not that much hot, so you dont need to worry. Masala Coke was just Coca Cola with masala souce and it was OK. You can choose it over plain Coke. The stuff was also nice. The dish could be 2 Euros cheaper maybe (but, this is true for everything, right?). Anyway, I recommend this place for Indian food for sure.
Its wonderful chutnify
Use to be a good place. in the meantime it turned into a tourist trap. prices got really high, they don’t resonate with the quality of food being served here. waiters expect tips like in the USA - and they will make sure to let you know about it. au revoir ...
Excellent place for lunch or dinner, very delicious foods. And more authentic then the typical European Indian one finds around Europe.
I was recommended this place from a list of great food in Berlin, and this list was very highly rated there. This may be the reason big that I was quite disappointed. The food was quite expensive compared to the experience, and also the chicken curry didnt have much chicken. The Chickpea curry had nice Flavors but nothing special in my opinion.I wont be rushing back.
One of the great place for having south indian food in Berlin. I am a frequent visitor have visited almost 6-7 times in 1year. Some of the must trys are salted lassi, mysore masala, idli and samosa chaat. The quantity is good though the first time I visited chutnify and now the quantity has reduced. The quality of food is good. Taste is quite close to authentic south indian. My most favourite is the sambhar. Though they have reduced the quantity of it. Would highly recommend the place. However would request the owners not to reduce their quantity as this is one of my most favorite place in Berlin.
Wow! Such great Indian food and a great team. Spent here a lovely night with a rather big group. Although the sitting arrangements for groups bigger than 6 people is rather difficult, the food was amazing!
Overpriced and Tasteless Food
Good food. Chaat was good, Idli could have been better. Masala Dosa was good.
I take my dates to places like that, because they have very tasty and authentic food. i would say a bit over priced. but still good
Good food, nice place, bad service and long waiting. For those preety high prices for Berlin standard I cant go higher than 3 stars. In my opinion not Wort it to go there.
Fantastic food with lots of flavour and great service. Kudos to the manager and his staff. All in all A1!
Dosa was absolutely delicious. Butter chicken was also the best I ever had. Very good food
Fantastic food!
Little pricy than other places and chutni itself is different than original. Which is funny because the name of restaurant is Chutnify. Also, who puts a customer in weird position when they give their card for payment and ask how much tip they wish to pay? Its customers choice. If they wish to pay or not. You shouldnt remind them. Specially when your service was super slow. And forgot to give one dish on time. The quantity of sambhar and chutni was less as well. The Vada tasted super good though. And dosa was nice as well.Took chaat for take away. It was super tasty.
We tried the chicken and the masala dosa. Chicken was average. Dosa was decent, chutneys were good, potato filling was rather bland.Portions were okay. Service was slow. Ambiance was nice - especially the music. The dishes dont come with rice like in other Indian restaurants - you have to order separately. That makes the price higher.Overall, average restaurant - you can try the dosa here.
All the dishes we tried were tasty. If you dont like too much spicy, they adapt the dishes to you. Good quality and good service.
Poor Service .Not worth for the price !!
