Prepared with such attention to detail - 5 stars!
Always a delight. Love their sparklers! I wish they’d allow you to add different fruit purées to each one though. 🥲
We tried Lemon Jasmine Green Tea (with grass jelly), Asian Pear Oolong tea (with boba), and Tapioca Milk Tea (with boba). The drinks are of decent quality, nothing too fancy, but a good choice. For us, the Lemon drink was a tad too sour at 50% sugar. Tapioca drink was pretty standard. For the Asian Pear, you can feel the granularity of the ingredient which is pretty unique. The texture may be a bit off for some people, but we liked it.
Love asha - lots of different teas and different seasonal flavors. In addition they have a tea bar which lets you try a bit of their loose leaf teas before you buy as well as try out some of their different tea equipment which is great.Usually quite crowded and impossible to find a seat - though not during covid of course.Their fruit teas are awesome and super different flavors, and actually brewed from tea not powder!
Simply THE BEST when it comes to boba and tea in general (and in Berkeley thats high praise indeed). I particularly like the fruit teas, (especially strawberry and asian pear) but really you cant go wrong here. Everything is made with fresh ground fruit rather than syrups, and it shows.Make sure to arrive after 11 AM if you want boba, but not too much later if you want a seat.
It is so hard to find quality hot tea to go - I cant speak to the rest of the curiously diverse menu but will be going to Aaha every time Im in the Bay for a Chai or Oolong! Hey, have you thought about a Sacramento location?
Great place for both boba and tea drinks. Their milk teas in general arent too sweet which is great for me. They also offer their own roasted loose leaf tea which makes great gifts.
Hands down the best matcha I even had
Many choices for tea - milk tea, black tea, jasmine tea, green tea and seasonal menu. I was fascinated with variety of menu. Good vibes with nice decoration and lots of space and table. I ordered Special seasonal menu which is a yuzu jasmine green tea with glass jelly. Tea is very strong and aromatic, but would like to feel kore yuzu. Would come back and try other menu for sure.
Very high-end tea shop. The smoked Lapsang Souchong is life-changing.They might have boba but they have so much more.Dont miss their baked goods. The dark chocolate cookie with matcha makes your eyes roll to the back of your head.
Must try masala tea (hot), and if you order a cold tea have boba.
When I placed my order and went to pick it up, they had made one of my drinks incorrectly and forgotten a pastry in my order, but they were super nice and helpful. The manager was kind enough to give me a voucher for the mistakes in my order. The customer service is great and I love their matcha.
Welcome to Oakland! So happy to have such a wonderful tea shop!! Great drinks, great bulk tea.Beautiful space.
The best tea I have ever had! The boba is so soft and warm. The fruit teas are so natural and fresh!
ASHA TEA HOUSE has some delicous tea. Their matcha is similar to Third Culture Bakery; which is actually where they get their mochi pastries from[100% gluten free shout out to THIRD CULTURE BAKERY WHATSSS UUUPPPP]. Anyway, I dont recommend ordering matcha when its busy because ASHA TEA HOUSE has a tendency to not mix the matcha well enough. That is to say, when its busy, I can guarantee you will get chunks of bitter matcha in your drink. Im ok with it, i actually dont mind. But Im a dumb weird POS. So yeah.
Parking sometime could be challenging. The shop is next to the bank, make sure you dont miss it as the sign is quite small with neutral color. Boba is really soft and fresh. Good drink. Price is competitive. Inside is clean and nice. We can get mochi muffins from Third Culture Bakery, delivered every 2-day.
Pretentious approach to a simple concept. Tea. Attempts to meet ancient with modern is lost here and shouldnt be attempted really. Making something low maintenance into a science project where the apparatus and methods are as intricate as the steeping time. No thank you. Give me a pot, possibly bottomless refills and brown sugar. Keep it simple.
This used to be one of my favorite boba/tea shops in Berkeley. I equated Asha with terms such as luxurious and high-quality.However, after going these last few times, I would say that the quality of the drinks has gone down and service has gradually become non-existent (asked for a straw and the worker gave me a dirty look). The Hojicha Latte I got was extremely watered down, had no remnants of Hojicha whatsoever. Matcha Latte with Strawberry Puree was not well mixed, and had very little puree in it. Therefore would rate both drinks as mediocre. If you want good boba/drinks, would recommend other shops in Berk...
Cant praise these guys enough.
The boba pearls were super fresh
Hot perfect Hong Kong Milk tea and Chai latte (actual spices not saccharine junk) really hits the spot on a cool weather day. Good distancing practices in effect and rather nice tea staff which is a refreshing thing after so much isolation. A nice treat!
Ive been told its the best bubble tea around.
Asha has a pretty good selection of tea that lacks much of the pretence that Teance has. Its a small place nearby Shattuck Bart and campus on university and they will prepare your tea correctly and tell you how to if you dont know how to.The store is pleasant and somewhat small, although larger slightly than the store in SF, and they reserve seats for people taking tea sets at the bar so you can have a seat (there are a lot of folks on laptops).Theres a smattering of tiny food including mochi muffins which are great. They also serve boba if thats your thing, but you are missing out if you dont try their excellent tea service.
One tea was watery the other was burnt. They do not know how to brew tea but the boba was good
Top 1 or 2 in the bay area for matcha quality. fruit purées are god tier, particularly mango, lychee, strawberry. i wouldn’t say it’s the warmest service, but solid study spot. the matcha lattes here and my therapist were the reasons i graduated cal
Great quality tea and boba, happy they’re still open during COVID. Take out only and you can order online in advance!
This five stars is for the Matcha Latte. First tried it here with oat milk and fast forward 10 months and Im whisking my own matcha at home w/ 365 oat milk from WholeFoods. Thats how good it was and idk if I can go back to coffee now.. matcha doesnt really give me jitters so thats enough for me to switch. Cool kettles on display too inside.
Amazing fresh brewed teas including the best chai you will ever have! Everything isnt too sweet as well. I crave Asha just about every day!
Best place for a slow tea service, or a delicious to-go cup in Berkeley! They have a delicious selection of loose leafs, their chai is amazing and spicy, and my matcha latte is always beautiful, never too sweet. Its always a treat for me.
One of my favorite place for tea drinks. The matcha latte and Hong Kong milk tea are my favorite!
In my opinion this is probably the best boba place in Berkeley. The drink is not too sweet or overpowering and the amount of ice is good. The best part of the drinks, however, are the pearls. Every time I come here (and Ive come here quite a few times) the pearls are always of the perfect level of chewiness and have a great sweetness to them that enhances the flavor of the tea.The cafe itself has a great environment for an Asian tea house with cute pillows on the benches and great decoration. Its easy to spend a whole afternoon there getting some work done while sipping one of their awesome drinks. If youre a tea and boba enthusiast theres no way you can pass up going here!
Love the boba and the tea, everything fresh and although a bit pricey, definitely worth it! Favourite tea and boba place in Berkeley. It is a bit of a long wait now, but I know thats cuz of covid and theyre understaffed so Im sure theyre going as fast as they can. Just be prepared to wait a bit longer than the estimated pick-up time. But will be worth the longer wait!!
Best milk tea in Berkeley. I also highly recommend their tea service if you want to enjoy their selection of tea leaves in a relaxed setting. And mochi muffins, which sell out fast and are very tasty!
Love the vibe here! It’s chill and super aesthetic.I’ve gotten many of the drinks here. You can’t go wrong with any of the seasonal fruity drinks. They taste really natural and homemade so don’t expect strong artificial flavors.I got the green milk tea with boba made with soy milk and it wasn’t bad! It didn’t look creamy but it was good. Perfect amount of sweetener. Boba was chewy and soft!
This place has amazing macha!
Perfect fresh fruit teas. The fresh purees they make go so well with their quality tea. Why cant there be an Asha in every city.
This is one of the best places in SF Bay Area. I talked to the owner. He spent a lot of time in China studying all the details about tea. The result is... you can taste it in the teas they offer!
Asha Tea House has the finest teas...a must for any tea lover!! During Covid-19 can you ship loose tea by the oz? pound? ie Golden Buds
I love this place! Great vibe, delicious teas that you can get in a set (teapot) or by the cup. They have loose leaf, boba, etc all in a wide variety. Helpful staff and loose leaf to go so you can make your favorites at home. Cant recommend it enough as a place to study, meet friends, or just relax alone.
Hong Kong milk tea is very tasty, boba is well cooked. I would also recommend the ginger honey tea which has real ginger. A very warming drink. The shop is peaceful and has some seating. Though they open at 9, no boba until 11.
The original location, simply the best milk tea and tea place in Berkeley. I always come here for their fresh fruit teas or their pure teas. Look out for their brew bar specials every month if you are into trying new and different teas at a discount price. Seating is limited and very popular among students.
This tea house is very ingredient-focused. They use hormone-free milk, which I love. I ordered the pearl milk tea with almond milk as a substitute. I was thoroughly disappointed. It wasnt bad, but I expected the pearls to be softer and the tea to tastebetter. Maybe I should have went with the regular milk, which I may try next time. I do love the look of the tea house; its nicely decorated and seems like a good hangout for college students.
Good tea. An interesting offer for three one ence tea bag
Amazing tea place! Ive had the coffee milk tea both times Ive been and its got such a great flavor, its perfect. They have quite a few places to sit but most of them are high tables. Great selection of tea and a really nice relaxing atmosphere, a haven right there on University.
The best iced matcha with oat milk and boba I have ever had!
Fellow boba lovers please make a change and get your own reusable cup and straw. I like the fact that these guys offer an alternative at their counter. Start with a reusable straw today, it’s 2$ only.
Very strong tea in their hong kong milk , just the way I like it!
Excellent tea selection! The space is a relaxing blend of modern and traditional. The tea service was on point. This is an easy place to pop in to enjoy a fine cup of tea on the go or grab a table or stool for a pot and a nice conversation with friends.
Had an amazing chai latte. I would definitely come here again! Quiet atmosphere and plenty of seating. Would be a great place to study or get some work done.
Diverse tea selection, boba was soft and warm as it should be. Would definitely return for tea.
Very good tea. Ive had the fresh fruit matcha latte and the masala chai latte with boba. Both were delicious and Id order them again.
The decor is really nice, and the high ceilings ensure that it doesnt feel too cramped, even with the limited floor space. You can tell that their teas and drinks are of really high quality, and the service is quick and excellent. Unless you come on off-peak times, though, its extremely difficult to get a seat. But if you can snag one, its a really nice place to work or just chill and take in the atmosphere.
The waitress was terse and borderline rude. The tea was delicious though! I got lemon mint green tea. My friend got black tea with boba which was also very good. We loved that their drinks start with real fruit juice and steeped tea, not syrup.
Good flavors and has different cup sizes, which many boba places dont.
Fantastic small tea shop in the heart of Berkeley. Teas here are sourced directly from the harvesters thanks to in-house purchasing talent, and the attention to detail shows through every step of getting that tea to you. Beautiful brewing equipment available for table use, helpful and kind staff, and delicious local pastries to compliment the perfect cup. Unique tea infusions and milk teas are abound here as well, along with a constantly updated menu to test out new concepts regularly.
I think this place is really good. If you dont like super sweet bubble tea then you just dont put as much sugar in it, they give you plain tea and you put however much sweet stuff in it as you want. I like a less sweet tea myself...
Mmm, the boba is always so good and the fruit puree is the best idea
A true gem! The quality of tea, milk and handmade boba are the best in the area. The ambiance mood and customer service are pleasantly reliable.
I ordered a matcha latte with boba and it was very delicious! They use matcha cream at the top. However, the boba could be softer and more chewy. I would definitely go back again to try the same thing and get the caffeine charge from matcha, but would definitely try the other milk teas as well!
Matcha tea latte with boba was perfect. Restrooms were out of order. They didnt have whip cream. Very nice staff.
My favorite milk tea of all time and trust me, Ive been to a lot of milk tea places. The milk tea is just so good. I came here every week when I was a student at Berkeley and now I make a point to visit whenever I go back to Berkeley. I usually get the Hong Kong milk tea just because its pretty unique and other milk tea places usually dont have anything similar. Also note they have regular tea here too, which is also really good. I love sitting down with a friend here over a pot of normal tea here.
HOLY MOLY. One of my favorite tea places! Everything on the menu is delicious and they have a frequent buyers card. They also have a frequent buyers card filing system there so you can leave your card for next time(how cool!).Price ranges from $3.50-4.50 and everything is made fresh. Speaking of that... Im going to head there right now =D
Lovely tea at perfect temperature and strength. Flavor profiles well curated. Clear labels and cleanliness in store. Counter culture and tall ceiling.
Amazing matcha lattes. Try one with the fruit layer and less sweetness!
Drinks are not to sweet, so you dont feel too guilty drinking this stuff. The only problem is that the students here just treats this like their library. Everyone with a seat has their laptop with their drinks finished many hours ago.
Great teas, not too sweet and beautiful interior
Matcha latte (both iced/hot and unsweetened/standard lightly sweetened!) is very good, refreshing and invigorating. I love to pair it with the Third Culture Bakerys mochi muffins. ALSO they have a banana chocolate muffin that is amazingly moist and delicious. The food selection tends to be a twist on pastry words youve seen in cafes before, but the flavor just pops, so unique and fun. Huge selection of teas! I look forward to trying more. The atmosphere it good, bright, smells nice... perfect for studying or just chilling out. There is a sign outside that lets people know not to bring in outside food/drinks so as not to disrupt the sensory experience of other patrons. I was impressed that they gave thought to such a small part of their customers experience. Great place to meet up with people, more fun to explore on your own or with a bud than a Starbucks or Peets (though they have merits of their own). The staff here have been very kind, accommodating, and do their best to get you what you want in a timely manner. Much appreciation for them!
One of my favorite coffee/tea places to go to. Filled out so many stamp cards and tried everything on their menu. Definitely worth a trip :)
Try the pineapple tea iced. I found it very refreshing.
Great place for boba enthusiasts and traditional tea lovers alike; for those in the middle, check out the brew bar specials. They also have a very limited set of coffee options.Interior is beautiful, take some time to examine some of the detailing. Seating can be hard to get, and power outlets are sparse.
Serves one of the best matcha lattes in the area! Its absolutely delicious and the place itself is lovely as well, even though it is a bit small.
I love their Macha latte..But wish they had a bigger place, because there is no seats almost every time when i go there.
Nice place to enjoy tea and hang out with friends.
I love Asha, and apparently everyone else does too. The worst thing about Asha is that it is so well-loved. Go there on a weekend and seating will be scarce, students on Macs taking up every table.I go there for the bubble tea, which is hard to find done well in many other places. In fact, I dont think Ive ever gone into Berkeley without stopping here. They make everything from scratch, and if youre smart, youll ask what seasonal options they have available, because it will probably use real fresh fruit, instead of some powdered mix.I will say that they err on the side of the bubble tea being slightly sweet, so I just ask for a little less sweetener than usual, but then again, I dont drink soda. As a vegan, I am happy that theyre able to do soy in my jasmine bubble tea.No question -- check it out!
A must-visit if in Berkeley. Highest quality tea in the Bay Area, including even Cupertino. You can’t go wrong with any order, but on a cold day, I like a hot Hong Kong milk tea. (April 2018)
