One of Bangalores oldest temples, dating back to the 5th century. This temple contains one of the earliest references to Bangalore. The contrast between antique historical structures and contemporary temple entrances is breathtaking.Lord Shiva is the subject of a centuries-old temple devoted to him. The sanctum santorum contains five lingas, hence the name Pancha Lingeshwara temple. Artifacts dating back thousands of years are still preserved here. The temple is undergoing renovations and requires special attention. The 1600-year-old Nagareshwara temple in Bengaluru is a good spot to visit if you want to view one of Bengalurus historical temples. The most recent Gopura construction has now been completed on all four sides of the entrance. Done a fantastic job. One of the best sacred places for peace-loving people, as well as a kid-friendly environment. This ancient sanctuary has a prominent place in Karnatakas history. For students, this is a must-see.

This is quite a old temple which is built is quite a big area. I think the government have renovated it as the compounds and all gate are totally new. However the best thing is the temple is still that ancient they havent disturbed that beauty of the temple. The place is very peaceful situated besides a lake. The only thing I found bit disturbing is that this temple has a big area and there are many construction under the compounds which the builder left incomplete. If they complete the whole things as they designed it on paper than it will become one of the best temple in Bangalore.

Oldest temple in Bengaluru with the famous Bengaluru Inscription Stone. Every Bangalorean should visit this 9th century temple complex with five Shiva shrines, and the nearby remains of Begur Fort, to get a sense of Bengalurus history. Access is from Hosur Road or Bannerghatta Road. The Begur kere behind the temple is another attraction in the area.

The panchalingeswara or naganatheswara temple is situated in begur. The main deity is lord shiva. Its one of the oldest temple in Bangalore. It is almost 1200 years old and the architecture is beautiful. It is next to begur lake. It has 4 gopuras in all 4 directions but right now only 3 gopuras are present. An old inscription found in this temple has the word benguluru. This is the earliest evidence of the existence of a place called Bengaluru. There was a fort in begur but right now only a small piece is left. All this shows begur was a big town 1200 years before. Shiva ratri festival held in a grand manner and lot of crowd will be there but in other days hardly you wont find any one.

Went there to check the bengaluru inscription stone that dates back to 750 AD mentioning the word bengaluru on it which proves the city existed before it. A new gopuram is built infront of the ganga architecture pancha linga nageshwara stone temple. One side of the road is good and good parking space next to lake. Peaceful during weekends too.

1537 is when Bengaluru was founded, as per the history books.A few inscription stones have been found close to this temple in Begur. And the interesting fact about a particular inscription stone is the mention of Bengaluru and the stone apparently is dated 890 AD. This indicates that Bengaluru was founded much before 1537.A visit to this place is an interesting one, more to see this inscription stone.

Pancha Linga Nageshwara Temple believed to be worshipped by sage Agastya, there are total 5 Lingas in different shrines the temple is in Begur Bangalore. An ancient temple built by Western Gangas of Karnataka, later improvement has done during Cholas period, locals has taken up huge initiative by building Rajagopuras and compound walls, but the orignal shrines is left as it is, which stand majestically . An ancient temple worth visiting. The temple is located 16kms from majestic railway station.

There are many scriptures written around main temple in Tamil, consisting of Kannada words. Cleanly maintained. Road construction was in progress. Many references to Lord Pashupathi can be seen here. It’s considered as one of oldest proof for the name ‘Bengaluru’. Calm place.
