We are an international school; we follow IGCSE and ICSE syllabuses; we prepare our students for the toughest competitive exams and the best universities world over; our students go on to study at MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, etc. This is what you hear from the school all the time. Little do we realize that their MIT actually refers to Madrasa institute of technology in Ramnagar, not the Massachusetts institute of technology, Boston; Oxford College is the one in Bommanahalli; Cambridge College is the one Krishnarajapura, Harvard College is the one in Dasanapura and Stanford College is the one in Kammanahalli, and such locally famous International colleges, just like Deccan International school that even the next road guy has not heard off!Deccan school has turned into a rehabilitation center – teachers kicked out of every kind of school in Bangalore, and elsewhere from all over India find a shelter in Deccan school and undergo remedial courses, only to get worse by coming in association with other even sloppier teachers.Teachers hardly know what should be taught to students that are relevant and practical; they come and just blabber what they think they know. Head of the departments are the worst; they should be constantly reminded of the subjects they are heading. Teachers’ role has been limited to forwarding syllabus, setting time table and giving homework. These days, their duty has been further limited to sending self-study and do-it-yourself videos links. Teachers take pleasure only in setting up the question papers that even they cannot clear.Of late, the school has stopped dispensing the textbooks and workbooks, even after collecting huge sums for the same. No wonder History will ever remain a Mystery for the students who never get to see the textbooks. On the contrary students always get the Maths right, because workbook with answer keys is not even given to them for cross checking the answers.Teachers have become masters not in teaching, but in promoting exotic projects. They teach students to make paper boats and in turn expect them to build a spaceship, that too working. When such a project is carried out, teachers are immature enough in taking credit and pride in such projects where they had little involvement.Teachers have such poor self-image and self-pity that they constantly demand respect and seek praise, rather than truly earning them from the students by teaching them well and being role models for behavior, conduct and character. Teachers, the biggest bullies in the classrooms, are under the impression that the best way to exercise control and earn respect is by abusing students in public and creating a fear amongst all. They take sadistic pleasure in broadcasting to the world that their students are miserable, idiotic fools. Sadly, they have little insight that the students performance mostly reflects on teachers and the school.Talking in classroom is a crime; socializing in school ends up in timeouts; students having a good laugh make teachers feel jealous - such lousy personality they have. You will find people in commoner dress teaching, because teachers do not wear uniforms – teachers fancy the idea that they are the best dressed in the classroom; and the staff room mostly looks like a fashion showroom. Parent-teacher meeting is one big drama where the teachers make every effort to pin the blame for the students’ poor performance on the parents’ genes. Apparently, most teachers think that their students’ fates are sealed at birth, just like theirs. The office staff and the coordinators have no clue on anything happening in the school with the students, and have been paid to just work as Bouncers for the teachers.Nursing staff is the funniest; a student even with a pimple should not attend the school; the nurse thinks it is an illness. Nurses only job has been calling in the parents and advising that they should rather homeschool their children.Welcome to another year of Hell on Earth, a magical place of Torture and Misery where Geniuses Morph into Morons!

I am one of the founder students of the school right from its inception in 2003. Ive been there the longest I presume, 11 years.I would recommend my school to anybody out there. It gives equal importance to all aspects required for educating a kid, right from academics to sports and music and much more. Its certainly well maintained and the infrastructure is just enough. Most importantly, its got the right atmosphere to learn.

Finally a school where the Principal didnt ask my daughter - How much is your percentage , whats your expectation in Board exams. It was a great experience for my daughters X1 grade (AS/A) admission. Every person we met in the admission process was a true professional ! The Director & Principal seemed to be focused on childs overall growth not just the academic excellence. The campus is awesome too, South Bangaloreans should seriously consider this school for your child.

Not many facilities are available here. Only few sports are available and sometimes nothing is being taught during Physical Education classes. PE teachers cannot effectively communicate with the students in English, mostly speaking Kannada. So much for an English medium school. Speaking Kannada isnt only limited to PE teacher, other teachers do too (apart from the teachers who teach Kannada, of course). Only a few subjects are being taught in an interesting way, showing videos, hands on activities, puzzles, etc.You cant put all of the burden of studying for exams on the students. Teachers should have a bunch of fun revision classes. In this case too, only some teachers satisfy it. During term 1 exams, some of them were keen on completing the text book rather than have revision classes so that the student success in their exams.Students are being told off by many teacher. This is a feature that almost all schools share. Telling students off is discouraging and can result in them not doing well in exams or their behaviour becoming worsening rather that improving. Instead of telling them off, some other disciplinary actions can be taken. This will help.Overall, administration is fine, so is education. More sports and co curricular activities should be encouraged.

Combinely me and my wife is having 54 years of experience with Deccan International School. All 3 kids studied/studying here and we dont hesitate to recommend this school to anyone. They have a LARGE playground and big building with some long time teachers. They charge reasonably within our reach and valance between studies and other activities. My elder son studied here and now he is pursuing his engineering in PESIT with a CET rank of 733! Amazing faculty and management is what I would say!

My kid was studying in Deccan international(ONLY NAME) school. teacher are pathetic they do many spelling mistakes and if you go parent meetings they will tell about your kids bundle of complaints(which everybody does in the childhood).Day by day increasing fee structure and decreasing education quality. Even annual day function organized so badly like government school and uniform quality is so worst after paying a huge amount.I will never ever recommend this school to my friends circle. Under the name of the international school, there is nothing like the international level. These are my thoughts if need more information ask parents whose kids are studying there.

I am planning to move from US to India. Started looking for schools for my kids (6th and 8th.) in South Bangalore (Banashankari, jayanagar area. I found one school Deccan international school. They are good at attending phone calls as well as replying e-mails. As my kids are in US and moving in July, they want to do Skype interview. Mrs. Bharati Krishnamoorthy (I guess she is dean of the school) called on time perfectly. First I spent couple of min. on skype, later I called my kids one after one. Really she is amazing. I don’t have any words to praise her. She is really very nice. I didn’t expect she would talk in such a nice manner. Though she spent very little time with each kid, I felt she understood my kids completely. She answered all my kids’ questions very patiently. My kids were very happy. I can give 5 stars, but I want to give it once my kids start going to school. As my wife is also working as a school teacher in US, I will wait until she talks s to the Deccan teachers. For now I am giving 4 stars. After one or two months, I will extend my review/rating with my further experience. They have to improve administration department. Bus facility, uniforms, books etc. They are not in proper place. So reducing from 4 Stars to 3.
