I have been training at SpACE for the past 6 months and it has been such a beautiful learning experience. I was not sure what to expect with online Kathak training but Anjana Didi and team at SpACE make online teaching look effortless with their structured practical and theory modules, offline assignments, regular check-ins and personalised feedback. What I enjoy the most is the way Didi inculcates a sense of deep connection towards our dance and training with her interesting anecdotes to explain different hastaks and bandishs, emphasis on riyaaz or practice and a positive and disciplined ambience. After several years of training in Bharatanatyam, it’s my first time learning Kathak this year and this experience at SpACE has made me want to hold on to Kathak for as long as I can. I am a student of SpACE for a while now. I am amazed and surprised to discover different pedagogical methods used by the teachers at SpACE to ensure that a holistic understanding of Kathak is imparted to each and every student. From self-exploration sessions, group-learning, learning/discussions with senior batch’s students, intensive classes, presentations by senior students, information about live dance shows in the city adds to the experience of learning, understanding including appreciation of Kathak.
