Venkatappa Art gallery is located in Ambedkar veedhi Bangalore is a top art gallery. It attracts artists and art lovers from all over Karnataka. The entire place is surrounded green Space and well lit. Theres no access to terrace. Theres a bus stop right close by to the gallery that has scheduled bus timings board. There was a parking lot allocated for visitors. The Entrance to art gallery is via ramp. This gallery is mostly having paintings and sculptures . Stairs are supported by railings. Frequency of dustbins is low and theres no seating area. Theres no lift either for disabled and aged people to access first floor. The entire building is air conditioned. Sitting like a old hermit, telling tales from bygone amidst the busy road in the background, and lush green in its backyard and crouching modern buildings opposite it. Beautiful place for those seeking paucity in the urban setting. The building is under CCTV surveillance but its mostly not in function and it requires better maintenance .The place lacks railings though but its pretty well shaded naturally. Theres no facility of washroom and drinking water supply. Do carry your own water bottles, the place is worth visiting especially for people interested in art and design.

Beautiful gallery of art and sculptures from the surrounding area. Taking a guide or reading material is recommended to appreciate the depth of the artifacts. The history of South India, the Mysore kingdom and all the many religions around, can be imagined looking at the excellent local craftsmanship. Some full body sculptures stone work are absolutely amazing!

Some places are worth noteworthy reviews due to what they have been through, history and for the reasons as to what the provide people with. One thing to note is the Red colored building thats shown is not actually the Venkattappa Art Gallery, but its the Museum Building. Both of which lies side by side. The intent of the Art Gallery was probably highlighting the contribution of the Great National Artist and Muscician Mr Venkattapa . To some extend justice has been done. Ground floor is devoted to his works. The first floor houses an empty art gallery which is available for rent individually or collectively for as little as 500 to 750 RS as on date for struggling artists as they like to call it. More information and bookings can be made at the Museum office.Good for Small Art, Craft and Small exhibitions for Artists, perhaps a better space than Rangoli or CKP. Cubbon Park Metro is the nearest, shares the parking space with the Museum. Its in reasonable good shape considering that its a Government maintained building.

Located on Kasturba road, opposite UB city, Venkatappa Art Gallery is a beautiful ode in memory of the great artist, Shri Venkatappa. Very well connected with buses & other public transport, the nearest Metro Station is at the entrance to Cubbon park, from where its about 500m to 750m walk. Entrance fee is very nominal at INR 20 for adults & INR 10 for kids. The lower portion consists of several antiquities from different parts of India, & includes antiquities from Chitradurga, Coorg, Tamilnadu, & even Mohenjodaro. It also contains the plan of Srirangpatna fort & many records of land donations to individuals & communities, on copper inscriptions. At the entrance is also a beautiful stone of valor, which is popularly known as veeragallu in Kannada. This veeragallu captures the war preparations of the general & his enjoyment of pleasures in the heavens after being killed in a war while fighting the adversary (called veeragati in Kannada). The entrance to the lower portion also has Jaya & Vijaya, the dwaarapaalakas (gatekeepers) of Lord Vishnu. On the 1st floor is the collection of several musical instruments, several forms of traditional paintings, & many sculptures. The other side of the lower portion (called annexe) contains a open hall with many stone sculptures belonging to different periods. There is also a beautiful picture of how the Kannada script has evolved over the ages, while walking through the hallway. On the adjacent side of the main gallery is the Art school. This predominantly houses the works of Shri Venkatappa & the different awards hes been bestowed upon. Being a very fine art gallery, the Venkatappa Art Gallery needs bigger space to showcase the range of art from Karnataka. On the whole, its a beautiful place to visit & appreciate.

The Venkatappa Art Gallery has been an art showcase of Karnataka’s most famous artist, K Venkatappa. It is now 42 years old and houses art not only of K Venkatappa but also of other artists, old and new.In the old with the newThe gallery is situated next to the Bangalore Museum on Kasturba Road, is a treat to all art lovers. You not only get to see the works of one of Karnataka’s best, but you also get a look at the works of some other contemporary and modern artists. The gallery even hosts art shows and festivals. The Art Gallery is a must visit, with over 600 paintings and sculptures, a tour of this gallery is a must.Art paradiseSpread over three floors, the ground floor of the gallery displays the works of K Venkatappa. See the tools with which he created the masterpieces, on display, including his pair of glasses and even a walking stick! You can gape at his works, like a series of paintings on Ooty, works on Eklavya practicing his archery and so much more. There is also a display of the different veenas that Venkatappa played. There’s even a section dedicated to his sketches. The first floor of the gallery is filled with the works of various artists including KN Ramachandran, K Mohandas, and GM Hedge. There’s no theme, but there are some cool paintings here, ranging from portraits to abstracts.Adjoining to this gallery is a small room that houses CP Rajaram’s wood carvings. The second floor of the gallery is entirely dedicated to the paintings of KK Hebbar. Starting from a self-portrait, the collection is almost like a story, documenting Hebbar’s life and the paintings date all the way back to the 1940s. So you can see loads of his books, his accolades, and some stunning work on everyday life. From his oil paintings on the natural elements of the earth to his sketches of everyday life in villages of India and abroad, you can discover KK Hebbar’s range of talent, after walking through the gallery. The gallery is open on all days of the week except Mondays, from 10 am to 5 pm. The entry fee is INR 10 for adults and INR 5 for children. But, they might be closed or open for a shorter period on public holidays.
