Each section is large enough and has lots of artifacts. Some of the artifacts are interactive and hence you are given gloves at the entrance. There are lots of things to do for adults, and theres a section for kids as well. A must visit for museum lovers. Please carry enough sanitizers as there arent any of the floors. Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore (VITM), a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. A modest building with a built up area of 4000 sq. mtrs., was constructed in the serene surrounding of the Cubbon Park, housing various industrial products and engines, which was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14.07.1962. The first gallery set up at VITM on the theme Electricity was opened to the public on 27.07.1965 by the then Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting & Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi.VITM has a Dinosaur Corner with mobile app facility & a 1:1 scale replica of the Wright Brothers Flyer Kitty Hawk along with Flyer Simulator providing an immersive and entertaining experience to the visitor. The Science on a Sphere at VITM, the only one in Asia, is a large visualization system that uses multimedia projections to display animated data on the sphere converting it into an immersive animated globe showing dynamic, animated images of the atmosphere, oceans and land area of a planet, combined with narration. VITM has 7 permanent exhibition galleries titled Engine Hall, Fun Science, Electrotechnic, Space Emerging Technology in the Service of Mankind, Biotechnological Revolution, BEL Hall of Electronics and Children Science.VITM has Mobile Science Exhibition with 24 participatory exhibits mounted on a bus. Launched in the year 1970, the Mobile Science Exhibition travels through the length and breadth of the whole of South India. Simultaneously, VITM organises several education extension activities to supplement science education in the schools like Science Demonstration Lectures, Hobby Centres, Sky Observation Programmes, Popular Science Lectures, Teachers Training Programmes etc., for the benefit of students and new programmes like Science Fairs, Science Seminars, Planetarium Programmes, Science Drama Festival, Story Telling and Special programs in commemoration of achievements in science and technology. During this period the first HAM Radio station was also set up in VITM and that became a passion for the children and adult alike.Between 1982 and 1993, NCSM set up three more science centers at Gulbarga (Karnataka) in 1984, Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) in 1987 and Tirupati in 1993, which are functioning directly under the administrative control of VITM. Thus, VITM became the southern zone headquarters of NCSM.While celebrating its Golden Jubilee during the year 2014-15, VITM stands tall as a major landmark in the city of Bangalore attracting people from all walks of life with the visitor footfall touching 1 million. It is a matter of pride that the cumulative visitor footfall to the Museum for the past 50 years has crossed 4 crores.VITM has been assigned with the task of setting up new science centres in the Southern Zone by NCSM. The Regional Science Centres at Dharwad, Coimbatore and a Sub-Regional Science Centre & Planetarium at Puducherry were developed and handed over to the respective State Governments/UT. All these new Science Centres are equipped with the state-of-art exhibits and activities that children can perform and learn science in an out of school mode. VITM is currently assigned with the task of setting up a Regional Science Centre.

#IncredibleIndia #अतुल्यभारतIn the subject category it is is one of the coolest & amazing muesems in India, science & related field chaps can find it way more interesting but it is not limited to science chaps only as science is the daily part of every ones lives. Its a multi story muesem with engine hall & dinosaurs replica on G floor, Science Fun & Electro techno hall on 1F, Space & Biotechnical on 2F, BEL Electronics & Kids Science on 3F and a cafeteria on 4F. What i loved the most is that the science behind functioning of the things which we use on daily basis are explained really well, like, How does a ball pen work/functioning of a zipper/Lock & key mechanism etc. Every floor amuses the mind in either ways. Replica of Wrights Brothers Flyer is also displayed perfectly. Dinosaur on the enterance of engine hall amuses the kids very much 😁.Apart from it there are some jet burners, working models depicting the ancient mankind harnessing wind/water energy, automobile engines, working explainations of auto components, lathe etc. There are so many things to watch and lesrn here and i cant explain each of them in detail. Wright brothers flyer simulator is a must to do activity in the engine hall. Space hall is best and is a great place to know about Indias Space Programme in details. Satellites, rockets, launch vehicles, antennas, launch pad are displayed beautifully. All the halls are full with people except Microbiology hall. Fun science hall have different science phenomenons explained with person interactive working models. This is the place where people of different age groups can be seen interacting and learning through fun techniques. Electronic hall also portrays chip assembly process, robots, telecommunication system through interactive models.Overall it is a must visit museum for the people in and around bengaluru. Restrooms are available on each floor & Parking facility is also available. Wearing face mask is compulsary as per the Covid related SOP. You will given disposable gloves right at the enterance. The entry ticket is Rs 75 per person and mode of payments are cash/card/UPI.To explore the museum one may require ample amount of time hence you have to schedule your clocks in a right way. Apart from the science display this museum has in house shop where you can buy books, science toys, robotics kits etc. There are some special shows also like 3D show, science show, star show etc which runs as per the scheduled time. The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, (VITM), Bangalore, India, a constituent unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya. The building, with a built up area of 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq ft), was constructed in Cubbon Park. It houses various scientific experiments and engines, and was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 14 July 1962. The first gallery set up at VITM, on the theme of Electricity, was opened to the public on 27 July 1965.In order to honour Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, the All India Manufacturers’ Organisation, Mysore State Board, decided to set up a science and technology museum at Bangalore, and the foundation stone was laid by Shri B. D. Jatti, Chief Minister of Mysore, on 15 September 1958. The Visvesvaraya Industrial Museum Society (VIMS) came to be registered as the nodal agency in order to pool resources from various industrial houses. A building with a display space of 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq ft), which was constructed in Cubbon Park, houses displays of industrial products and engines. It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 14 July 1962.However, the society felt that the southern region lacked a science museum. The eastern region already had a science museum in Calcutta under CSIR, which was quite popular, and on the Societys request CSIR took over VITM. The society nominated a permanent representative to the executive committee of VITM, and on 27 July 1965, VITM opened in Bangalore with the first gallery on the theme of ‘Electricity’.[citation needed]In the year 1970, VITM launched the Mobile Science Exhibition (MSE) with 24 participatory exhibits mounted on a bus. The MSE Bus travels throughout South India, and it continues to be a very effective tool for Science communication in the rural area as the bus carries with it a portable planetarium, telescope for night sky observations, HD large screen TV for science film shows in the evenings, materials for conducting popular science shows and demonstrations aimed towards the general populace. In 1978, the science museums/centres including VITM were delinked from CSIR and brought under a newly formed society registered on 4 April 1978 as National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). In 1979, an extension was added to the building, increasing the total area of the museum to 6,900 m2 (74,000 sq ft).NCSM set up three additional science centers at Gulbarga (Karnataka) in 1984, Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) in 1987 and Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) in 1993, which are functioning under the direct administrative control of VITM. Thus, VITM has become the southern zone headquarters of NCSM.The museum attracts nearly one million visitors a year, and is open on all days (except Deepavali and Ganesha Chathurthi) from 09:30 to 18:00.

It has 4 floors and each floor has a different section related to science.

Had made it to the final round of the museums science quiz.January 2020Had made it to the final round of the museums science quiz. A good museum with a lot of useful information and hands-on experience. On the first floor, there is a good auditorium. A large model of a dinosaur can be found on the first floor, where you may snap a selfie with the prehistoric creature. Simple machines can be used to entertain yourself. A massive network of momentum balls exists. On the first floor, theres a lot more about mechanics. There is an electronic department and a childrens section on the third floor. There is also a part dedicated to space. The cuisine at the canteen on the patio was excellent. The restrooms were spotless and sanitary. Some of the equipment, particularly in the electronic sector, is broken and has to be repaired. Otherwise, this location piques a persons scientific interest who is tired of reading textbooks with little practical application.(Disclaimer: The sections I referenced may not always be the same.) The team adds new sections on a regular basis to keep up with advances in science and technology.)Information about electricity can be found on the second floor. Theres a section on infinity wells and immiscible liquids, among other things.

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum in Bengaluru is one of the best places in India where one take their kids to learn about basic principles of science. The layout of the museum is very good with different sections for different topics. The museum also has some finely crafted and designed models for better understanding. Overall a very interesting place to visit.
