Actual gallery is closed currently. The shop on the ground floor, right opposite to the entrance gate has some interesting art available for sale at nominal prices. The eating area next to it also works like a co-working space, though you will need to bring your own food since the cafe is closed. Library on the first floor is well stocked with art related books. Do check out the books related to Raja Ravi Varma. The sculpture garden opposite the gallery is great for a calming walk. Parking area is sufficient for both cars and scooters. Absolutely free to visit and spend time here on Saturday/Sunday. Bring along food, water and your laptop for a productive day!

You are welcomed by a beautiful environment where greenery takes centre stage. A basic entry fee of Rs. 20/- is charged per head. Free lockers are provided where you can store your belongings. Youre greeted by the most humble security guards youll probably meet anywhere who direct you to the various sections of the gallery. Coming to the arts on display, I couldnt appreciate them enough cause of my lack of knowledge on the same. However, people who are well-versed in art would surely appreciate who beautiful they are and the stories behind them. You go on a journey around the entire building which roughly takes around 1-2 hours for an average layman like me. People who are into art can spend the entire day perhaps. Youre restricted from photography inside the halls where the art is on display. However, you can beautiful photos of the photogenic surroundings, some of which are attached here. And mind you, the surroundings are beautiful and incredibly well maintained which gives the feeling of being at an international art gallery. The food available at the cafeteria is of good quality and can spend far more time just gorging on them and taking in the landscape around you. Washrooms are well maintained too.

#Incredible India #अतुल्यभारतThis place is incredibly amazing and peaceful, just you have to devote yourself to get the placid vibes. Well art is present both inside as well as outside of the complex. Artwork of the great painters like Sanjitha Shankar, Amrita Shergill, MF Hussain, Jaya Ganguly, Thomas Danielle etc are preserved and showcased beautifully. Many of the paintings are timeless. The gallery is surrounded by plush green gardens and sculptures. A cafeteria is also available inside the NGMA which is like an icing on the cake. The architecture of the building is also really nice, all the rooms have got good amount of natural light with high wooden ceilings. The security guards will hover around you every second as you step inside the gallery to stop people from clicking pictures. The environment is so peaceful that one can spend hours sitting here & have some good chit-chat with family & friends. Restroom is available. Gardens are also maintained quite well, hats off to the landscaping team. There is an inhouse gallery store to buy memorabilia and the prices of the articles are also nominal. Entry fee is Rupee 20. Parking space is also quite good for both 2 & 4 wheelers.Outside pictures attached as inside photography is not allowed and is offensive.

Parking for about 15 cars available and is mostly not filled. Loos are clean. Guards are polite but watchful. The cafeteria has a very small menu, a few baked items and some cakes. The gift shop is not well stocked. There are two wings, modern and old. Both have a fairly limited collection of art. The art is by a limited set of Indian artists and is not very exhaustive by geography or cultures. The mansion which houses the gallery is the best part about the gallery - it has a small garden, a small fountain which isnt functional, one really really large tree and some modern sculptures. May be the artistically inclined will feel happy to visit. However, in comparison to renowned art galleries across the world it is a let down. For people from Bengaluru this is a worthwhile place to spend an evening. Entry is reasonable for Indian citizen but is steep for foreigners. I left with the feeling that it was way short of the expectation from an art gallery.

The NGMA presents a wonderful opportunity to spend time in a place that is tranquil, opulent, welcoming, and steeped in history! The entry fee is affordable, and the exhibit is alluring. Youll find everything from paintings, to sculptures, to etchings, to vintage photographs, to podcasts! All of these artifacts, are presented within a historic structure; which with striking white pillars and beautiful balconies, sharply beacons the bygone British era into the present. This bungalow, with its high ceilings, ornate floor tiles, numerous balconies, aged trees, gorgeous wood accents and intricate detail, is as alluring as the art it enhouses.Inside, are pieces from various artists, with enough detail to appreciate the exhibit, without the need for a guide. The entire exhibit also makes you feel involved with the art, with numerous pieces displayed at eye level or lower. They also dont have ropes and barriers that make you feel like youre not worthy of the art youre here to perceive and appreciate. That being said, touching and being careless around the art is (definitely) not allowed. There are imposing sculptures that range from the abstract to the obvious, and some of them so vivid that they seem to await a reaction from you. Some paintings and sketches will make you stop and think; and other sculptures will make you walk away, confronted by the depiction of the horrors we humans are capable of.No matter the type of person you are, if enter with even the slightest bit of curiosity, you will leave with a multitude of feelings. Shock, awe, intrigue, confusion, fascination, revelation, disinterest, repulsion, question, doubt, amusement, admiration...And whatever it is you feel, youll know that it is worth more than what you paid to walk in.And if even thinking about art gets youre drier than the Saharan desert, then come for the beautiful house that will make for a jaw-dropping backdrop to your Instagram-ready selfies. And while youre there, you can walk through the halls of beautiful bungalow, wondering:What does any one need so many rooms for?How did they clean those high high ceilings? And how you found so much peace and quiet smack-dab-in-the-middle of traffic-ridden Bengaluru! And if all of this is not your cup of tea; the cafe has good coffee.

Museum has a fine collection of artworks- abstarct art, potrait, sculptures, wooden models and statues made from steel/ aluminium wires. When I had visited there an exhibition of artist Madhvi Parekhs reverse acrylic paintings had been going on. In one big room a colossal painting of the Last Supper painted by her was on display. A single seat was put to sit and see the painting. It was all silent around.I sat there and studied the enigmatic painting for a long time. It felt great. I was curious to see Raja Ravi Vermas paintings, but there was only one. This museum has comparatively smaller collection than in the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. However, it seems like they spend the ₹500 entry fee (foreign fee) on security guards that are only there to enforce the no photography rules, aggressively direct your walking patterns, and watch youre every move. The work in some of the galleries is molding and stained but instead of directing funds to that, they are spending it on harrasing the attendees.
