Lovely restaurant & food is very good, friendly & professional staff, we will definitely be coming here again

I simply cannot wait for the new look Maharaja to open, they will now be offering original Asian spiced dishes along with a new taste from Nepal with the introduction of a Yak and Yeti. If you have not tried it yet then its definitely worth a try. 👍🏼

Just ordered food from this restaurant thinking of authentic indian taste. But really disappointed by quality of food and taste. Its no way near to indian food.Prices are high for this tasteless food. Really disappointed and never recommended it to anyone.

Only have 3 things to say:1. The chef probably has never tasted Indian food his entire life2. Not anywhere close to tasting like Indian food and not even good even as a non- Indian dish3. The chef who probably made the recipe for my dogs food did a better job than this places chef!Absolute waste of money! Horrible biryani and disgusting tikka masala.

..The place is really dirty and food left on floor in buckets without refrigeration .. the salad kept in buckets without refrigeration no date dots either i left as lack of hygiene cleaning and lack of communication between chefs ...the meat left in buckets without storing in fridge.. raw is mixed in with fresh in fridge ..the cooking area full off oil and grease

We went there today, Sunday 15th March. Not busy, possibly because of you know what impacting on restaurants, but the food and service were fantastic. Havent been for a number of years, but we really enjoyed our visit. Thoroughly recommend a trip!

Loved the lamb shank - made extra mild just for me - whilst my curry loving companions enjoyed theirs nice and spicy. Always great food and attentive service.

I visited here for a hen do, was welcomed in by friendly staff and they offered to take my coat to the cloakroom for me. The food was fantastic and couldnt fault it what so ever. The bar had every drink you could wish for. On leaving I left my purse with cash and cards in and didnt even realise until the following evening. I called to ask if it was found and to my surprise it had, the gentleman on the phone told me he found it when cleaning down the table. So 5 stars for my experience here. I highly recommend this restaurant

Really beautiful inside, friendly staff, great food, whether you have the buffet or of the menu. Good place for all the family. Occasions etc. All round really nice restaurant 😋😋

Our first visit back for a while......really disappointed, we waited ages for starters, 3 drinks from the bar served relatively quickly, husbands tea never arrived, had to prompt someone passing about it ages later.....staff seemed minimal and inattentive....Our table had not been cleared of starter plates when we went up to the buffet for mains....We only had one drink each as we were never asked if we wanted any more...Service really not what it used to be....

If could give zero would have, the worst Indian I have ever had. Service was awful food was cold and beer was warm. Really disappointed as I heard good things. Will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone. Would strongly advise to avoid at all cost.Starters were horrible and once we went onto the mains they were all cold and didn’t taste nice at all.

Come hungry if you want to sample the large assortment of food served. Undoubtedly this restaurant has been showered with stars from many vegetarian Indians who have already tasted the real Indian cuisine in their motherland. That shows how good and authentic the dishes this restaurant serves. Staff is very efficient. They actually tell you to take your time and enjoy all varieties of food without rushing you.

Food is really good quality! Great dance floor too. Service is good and fairly quick. Would recommend booking a table as its always busy which is a good sign. Great for a group night out or a celebration! Very nice atmosphere and decor.

Lovely food and very polite staff.Chips were a little stale, However, all other food was delicious. Soft drinks were a little expensive. Desert was a good size for the price. The music taste is great, me and partner enjoyed the music all night long! Again the staff were lovely and friendly. Overall a good night. Hopefully others enjoy it too.

Always crowed at lunch, but the buffet never runs out what is offered. There is plenty to eat for vegan or meat eaters. Full range of condiments, soup and dessert. The building is undergoing some construction currently, so look for the signs pointing up the stairs. Amazing quality for such a small cost.

An unusually quiet night probably because of the competing firework displays but on the only previous visit it was incredibly busy. The shared starter was huge, so I struggled to finish my main but it was delicious - The fish curry was incredibly fresh! My partner had a lamb dish which she enjoyed and I found it just as tasty from the doggy bag the next day. Mushroom pilau rice was probably the best we have had in a long time. Will definitely back though i has hate to think how my other Indian restaurants I drive past in the 7 mile trip to get here but so worth it

Had my sisters birthday party there. Great food, dance floor and excellent service. We were quite large group and every member was well taken care of. Even kids as young as 5 enjoyed there.

This Indian restaurant has a reasonably large car park to the front and side of the building but it can get really busy, so you may have to park nearby and take a short 5 minute walk. I guess that just shows just how popular this place is. They offer an all you can eat buffet which has set prices but that varies depending on whether its a weekday or Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We went on a Friday night and it was £24.95 per person, which I felt was a little bit expensive compared to other similar establishments within the area. However the food was good, tasty and hot, it was clean, the staff were attentive and helpful and there is a dance floor with a live DJ, so I guess that maybe justifies the extra cost? I guess thatll be for you to make your own decision. The DJ isnt always there and on those nights its cheaper. They also allow you to order from a menu and the waiter did say they would make some food specially if we didnt see it in the buffet. As for drinks, beers and wines are good, Im not a wine expert but I can taste Diet Coke and what I got definitely wasnt that. Possibly a budget Cola from a local supermarket which I thought was disappointing and obviously I was still charged the normal price. All in all I would recommend this restaurant to friends, you are made to feel welcome, its comfortable albeit a bit noisy when its busy but thats fine. Give it a try Im sure youll enjoy it.

We had a pre-Christmas curry here. Great food, brilliant atmosphere, and a dance floor if youre in the mood for dancing. It was a bit more expensive than we expected, and the dance floor was overcrowded, but then it was Christmas.

Restaurant looks nicely decorated, service is very poor, unprofessional, we were told we not getting one of our drink because they are too busy to make it, no one was asking how is the food or how we are feeling, I personaly wouldnt recommend this place to anyone

Had a large group of us for a meal. We were having a buffet lunch. We had a lovely time and were well looked after.

Went there yesterday for a fundraiser and had the buffet. The food was wonderful and the music played by the DJ was a great mixed selection of oldies

Had the buffet, food was hot and had plenty of flavour.

Sunday was quite good with a buffet. Monday was awful. Charged 4 pounds more and not many dishes available. Most just sauce and not replenished. Wine advertised at £3.95 per glass but charged over £5 and said it was a larger glass. Stupid price for draft wine. They have lost a customer here.

Nothing special despite all the hype Ive heard about this establishment. Not somewhere I would be jumping up and down about if asked to re-visit. Very ordinary to say the very least, theres much better out there believe me.

Very popular Indian restaurant at South Benfleet, on the A13, London road. There are 20(ish) parking spaces. The entrance is on ground level, with a set of manual doors. The interior is divided into sections, the decor is interesting with arches and mirrors. Lighting is small chandeliers,( brought to mind the Only fools and horses episode) for white light and generally concealed, colour changing rope lights for ambience.The space between tables during the evening, got to a point where it was barely possible to pass between to get to the toilets and/or bar.. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was what you would expect in an Indian restaurant with steak and or omelettes for those who dont want Indian. While I was there, there was a 60th, a 21st(possibly 2).A school reunion and that was in the section I was in.There is a website if you want the menu and other other information.

Been ordering from this Indian for years. The last 4 times we have ordered we have had to ring up and complain due to the standard of the food. When you call they are rude on the phone. Argue about you complaining and then send you another curry which is again at the same standard. I will not be ordering from this Indian anymore and would not suggest anybody else to waste their money here!!!!!!!

I should think if you go at less busy times things would be better but I went on a Saturday night for a good friends birthday. Now if your going with a big crowd for a special night out you MUST read my review because it is honest. On turning up car park was full and stayed full. The place was very busy and packed to bursting. We turned up for a 8pm sitting dine and dance buffet there was 25 of us. The tables werent ready and we were ushered to the bar where all the next sitting were waiting. It was so cramped the seat backs from opposite tables were less than a foot apart you had to walk to the bar like a crab all the way. As I arrived at the bar a waiter was in front of me with a tray of food trying to get past it was impossible but I stepped to the side and I had to get close to other diners at a table to let him past. Doing this the diner at the table physically pushed me with both hands even though I hadnt touched her. That was within 2 minutes of getting there. Im going to be quick now. Basically it was short staffed. We were over charged on the bill as a small child who wanted an omelette and chips was charged FULL buffet price even though she was 6 years old and was entitled to a free meal with a paying adult. The omelette was not served we were just left with the starters bought to the table so the little girl just had a plate of chips and the party was charged childs buffet price for that. There was no waiter assigned to the table so when we were told help yourself to the buffet and if there is a dish you want that is not there just ask and it would be prepared and bought to the table. We asked for things and like the omelette was not forthcoming. Long story short the place was under staffed and the place was well over crowded. I left my main meal as we were so tightly packed in I just couldnt comfortably eat it without putting my sleeves in my friends dinner in the next seat. I felt sorry for the people sitting opposite as they were sat on a fixed seating bench that was 10 tables long without any gaps between the ten tables to get up and go to the toilet or wash hands. The food was OK but a bit on the hot side hence I had ordered a less spicy dish to come to the table but as I said didnt arrive. The starters were my dinner that cost £25. The buffet bar was around the small dance floor. Hey guys it was dangerously over crowded and uncomfortable. The service was pleasant when it was there but it was non existent most of the time. I found it terrible really and say dont go on a busy night because its too over crowded. I would of payed more for it to be more comfortable. Also checked out the prices online and some of the drinks were more expensive than advertised. They say they sell glasses of COCA-COLA. It was NOT Coca-Cola it was a brand named Sun Glint or something close but not Coca-Cola and it cost a pound more than advertised. My friend whos 50th birthday it was had a great time so that was great. Shame on you Maharaja you guys were just shoe Horning people in to maximise profit. I dont blame you for that but we were good customers that some of which traveled miles to patronise youre establishment and because of the crowding were made uncomfortable. Basically an average Indian restaurant which were money hungry and put bottom line before their customers... Not long after my visit they had a fire. Lucky it wasnt that night because I could imagine there being a big problem evacuating that place. It was bad I aint being silly just too over crowded.

Definitely a 5 star, food was great, reception was great, Uber was inadequate at best, motive was great.Only a slight problem, Coke was shipped from an entirely different cosmos hence the cost for a piss of Cola, but overall, a great night.Tip - check the pricing for everything, the waiters are excellent scammers.

Went to the maharaja last night, lovely place, good food, good atmos, good DJ, great evening, will be going again for sure.

First to qualify this review I will say that we a lot of Indian food and from all over the UK, and we have spent happy times in some really good Indian restaurants. Sad to say the Maharaja is not one of them.Overpriced, overrated (for some reason) and understaffed by seemingly untrained and awkward staff.We attended here for a family night out to celebrate a 21st birthday. The catalogue of agro began right at the go, the car park was jam packed with about eight or ten cars and a taxi sat precariously on a drop of zone. A would be customer was trying to park a van by driving backwards and forwards up and down the tiny car park seemingly hoping for a space to magically open up. After a kind of car and van dance manoeuvre we were out on a busy main road with no clue where to park. There were eleven of us in three cars. Having some local knowledge helped us to find a nearby road were we squeezed in amongst the other cars parked up and down this residential road. We were very glad it was not raining as we walked back to the restaurant. Once inside it was like a crazy game of dodge as customers and staff slid past in all directions. We eventually got seated at a table laid for ten...but we were eleven. After a game of move the tables a waiter squeezed us in around the table which was right against a walkway.....asking for trouble as it turned out. The waitress that turned up was being trained we think as she did not have a clue but tried to be helpful, and then, what a wait for food, well over an hour, and oh dear only ten meals arrived. By the time humble apologies had been made and the eleventh meal arrived everyone else was mostly finished. Number eleven family member gulped down a few mouthfuls and gave up...an evening ruined for her already. Then there was the oafish Neanderthal from a nearby table who pushed uncaringly passed a member of our party only trying to eat her meal. When she complained he used a very unpleasant term to describe her. The uncarry and uninterested staff just pretended not to notice. Lastly, the pleasant Indian background music found in the better Indian restaurants was not in evidence here. Instead there was a booming disco type music so load we could not chat at our table. You would think that was enough wouldn’t you but no......when the bill arrived there was no discount for online booking as promised. This was resolved but by now no one cared and just wanted to leave and forget about the Maharaja....better places to eat abound.
