The bakery must be old ,but it is a connoisseur’s delight.Swamy Bakery, which it is fondly known as is located at Church Street of the Military Camp area, a place that bears some familiarity to Malgudi Days as it is located right next to a small post office.The post office building which is now in a diaplated condition seems to be a century old as well.The bakery opens its shutters at 5.30am and that is the time when the breads are steaming hot.I bought couple of Mutton cutlets which are the iconic Bakerys oldest product.I was extremely happy to know that the Mutton pattices were sold out so i bought couple of chicken chops which are hot sellers as well.They still use wood fired ovens till now-Their Shrewsbury biscuits are do die for andI rate them better than Kayani.They bake some mean coconut biscuits as well.So next time you guys are in Belgaumor driving by it,make it a point to visit this iconic Bakery which is an institution in itself.

This is a historic place! Opened in 1920 and still in business. The rolls, breads, and such confectionery are all must try. They have a branch on college road too. I recommend that one must visit this store. The one is camp has that old world charm. We got ourselves some veg rolls , bread, pizzas base and chicken Franky. All good.So when in belgaum, do try.n enjoy.

Has lost it charm.M.K. Swamy was our everyday destination during our school days at St. Pauls.In the last few years, things have turned really bad in terms of taste n quality. A dozen chicken cutlets we bought, were stale. Couldnt return it, as we were traveling out of Belgaum. We let it go as a one off incident. It happened again after a month. We realised this is a common occurrence with Swamy bakery as another friend experienced exactly the same thing. Havent stepped back into the bakery after that.Maybe things have improved recently as I always see a big crowd outside the bakery. I dont intend to find out though, no more experiments on my stomach with their food.

Of late they have engaged additional staff to cater to the needs of the customers . Those who have moved out of Belgaum invariably make it a point to visit this place.
