The District & Sessions Court, Belagavi is located in heart of the city near  Rani Channamma Circle and DC Office. The District Court started functioning in the year 1870 under the British regime. There are some places of historic as well as religious importance in Belagavi District. It has an enviable heritage and offers much to be discovered. The district has an area of  13,415 Sq Kms and is bounded on the West and North by Maharastra State on the North-East by Vijayapura District and on the East by Bagalkot District and South-East by Gadag District, on the South by Dharwad District and Uttarakannada Districts, and on the Southwest by the State of Goa.Belagavi is a district in the State of Karnataka. Too much crowded. People from different villages and far off places come to court. Zerox shops are many. Tea stalls and restaurants are available in this area. Other offices like Notary and sub registrar offices are in the same campus.

Belagavi court is a majestic building but while taking the photo of this heritage building I was stopped by a security guard. No adequate sitting arrangements for litigants in the premises. Now in the time of computerisation, litigants should be updated about their case status etc through whatsapp and email also.Litigants should also have access to the library. Why facilities like library is restricted only for lawyers it is not understood? It is unfortunate that Honble judges takes so much time to decide minor issues. For example my own case is languishing in Belagavi courts for last 15 years and I am 66 years old suffering from life threatening health conditions. Painful for me and very bad for the system. But who cares? For clarification on minor legal points or otherwise there should be a help desk to assist helpless, hapless and harassed litigants.Jai Hind!
