After an extremely bad experience with a previous surgery this surgery has been wonderful. They go out of their way to help, have turned around a script I was late to offer and have shown me nothing but compassion and kindness in relation to my mental health problems. Receptionists are warm and helpful and dont seem to abuse the power of their position. I cant thank them enough for reducing the anxiety of contacting a doctor that my previous surgery instilled in me.

I have a set of complicated medical conditions, including an invisible one, fibromyalgia. Outside of a small issue with a loccum years ago, I never met in this surgery anything but compassion, care, understanding and professionalism, both from the medical staff and the administrative one.I never, in that practise, felt like I was mistrusted or doubted, like a lot of people with fibromyalgia still experience in 2020 (even though, thanks to a lot of education and communication, this has improved greatly). In that surgery, I always had the greatest standard of care, even though they are, like most NHS surgery nowadays, under payed, under staffed and overworked.I particularly thanks Doctor Rea, Doctor Rogers and Doctor Flynn for all the time spent listening to me, researching things on the fly, making sense of my broken English... Thanks to their care, and despite living with bad chronic pain, due to both fibromyalgia and inflammatory issues, I am still able to work full time and have an acceptable attendance at the job (and an exemplary employer, true...) . I am still able to fly home to see my family, twice a year.... To play with my cat, go for small walks.....So yes I recommended this surgery! Even though they are already very busy, understaffed and overworked, they still do a brilliant job, with humanity and care. They are a brilliant example why we need to fight for our NHS....

A family emergency has called me out of Belfast to Edinburgh meaning I have not collected my repeat prescription from the pharmacy which I usually get a text regarding. I have been without my medication for two days and counting. When I contacted the medical centre yesterday I was advised to phone back the following morning by 11am. As the issue that has called me out of Belfast is pressing I only got to make the call at 11:13. Julie, the receptionist who answered my call informed me that I wouldnt be able to speak to the doctor. When I advised her that the medication I am without is my antidepressants she proceeded to focus on why this was my fault and not anything useful like how to resolve the issue. Her only piece of advice was that I register with a doctor here. I am unsure how I can manage to register with a doctor and get an emergency script inside a day when I cant even get one from my current gp surgery in two days. It would appear that Julie has mistook a position of responsibility for a position of power and has let that perception of power go to her head. I am now left to go through withdrawal because of someone who is, essentially, a notepad with a bad attitude.
