A sweet little place where seating is literally on the road, and there is constantly someone waiting for a table. You can definitely see why - the ambience makes you feel like you’re on holiday, the food is delicious and rather close to authentic, the staff are friendly and hospitable and the cherry on the cake is its affordability. Have been more than once and will continue to come even when I finish trying everything on their menu.

I visited Jaï on a Saturday afternoon me and my friend, we sat outside, we ordered samosas as entry, pho soup, pad thai and for drinks we had the iced tea infused with ginger and cinnamon. The food is super delicious, our Host super friendly and the ambiance super lovely and quiet. Our host even served us dessert on the house.Super recommended if you love asian food.

One of my favorite places in Beirut! Delicious food where the very hospitable lady (who is also the chefs mom) takes care of you. Since a couple of years, lunch at Jaï became a ritual for me and my friends. It is small but its perfect 👌. For dinner, they add tables outside so you have more space. Our favorites there:Shrimp summer rollsChicken tikka saladSpinach and peanut sauce saladMusamman curry beefAnd the best green curry chicken ever!To finish, you get a dessert on the house consisting of fried dumplings with coconut milk and almonds. And if you are visiting in December, you also get chocolate truffles. Finally, prices are very affordable for what you are getting. What else to make it a perfect place 😉?

By far one of the best restaurants in Lebanon, if not the best. This place really pays attention to detail. Everything is done right: the food, decor, drinks, service. Literally everything.I highly recommend the butter chicken, pad thai, their special iced tea, and the dessert balls (i forgot what they are called).Get a chance to talk to the owner or his mother if they are there. Very lovely people to chat to and very accommodating to their guests.

One of my favorite places for a bite! Fresh, tasty, unique and affordably priced. Some food is extraordinary while some is bland. I wasn’t a huge fan of their Pho beef soup for instance. Staff are super kind and friendly. Atmosphere is homey and peaceful. Not much more you can ask for! Well except one thing: I wish they accepted credit cards. It’s a cash-only restaurant so keep that in mind when you’re visiting.

It all started as a delivery kitchen, catering Hamra and surrounding areas with succulent Thai and Indian dishes. But then people were raving about this place. And the rounded table inside the kitchen was more inviting and so a restaurant was born! You have two options: either venturing in booking a seat on the round table, which is an amazing experience, or just walk in on first come first served basis to catch one of the tables placed outside.Either way, Jaï is a must try!My first experience dates back to My birthday in 2015 and here was my opinion:What a lovely concept, one of a kind and a must try.You are in the middle of the chaos of a delivery kitchen yet you are treated better than the classiest restaurants. One table, 2 hrs to enjoy Fine dining experience: fresh ingredients tickling your taste buds, a mix of Thai and indian cuisine, the right seasoning, cooking everything is right.I definitely recommend it and wish you can have more tables but maybe then the charm is lost? All what we ordered was delicious: the summer rolls, the chicken dumplings, the spinach salad, the fish cakes, the tandoori chicken, the fired rice, pad Thai and Singapore dish and best of the best was the offered dessert of beignets with the coconut dipping.thank you for making my birthday memorable by this dinner experience.Chapeau Bas JAIAnd here I am back again! I had promised my friend to take her there, yet it never worked out, most of the times because of the unpleasant rainy weather! This time we ordered:Vegetable spring rolls: generously filled with a side dipTokyo chicken salad: appealing presentation and delicious mix with the touch of sprinkled almonds whats not to like?Thai beef salad: a delicate balanced mix of sweet and sour with a kick.Green chicken curry: another reason to make me fall in love with Green! For dine in, you are treated with divine dumplings with coconut sauce and powdered sugar. Oh and we were so eager we ate them before I take photo :)Over and over I just want to come back and savor every item of the menu.I love the spirit of the people there, amazing vibes and tasty food, needless to say I recommend it!

When I think of Jai, I think “good food but will we find a place to eat?” Well, this time the thought of eating their food again outweighed the fact of the seating issue. Don’t get me wrong, Jai is small in a cozy sort of way. I like that they have a common table next to their open kitchen, and a cute seating arrangement on the pavement outside; they give the place its charm. Although, if it is cold outside or it is raining, unfortunately not many seats remain—I witnessed the hassle of the folding and packing of a table firsthand. It would be nice if they could relocate to a bigger area, maybe not too big so that Jai retains its charm, but just enough for more people to enjoy the melange of flavors they have to offer. Luckily, we found a place at the common table indoors. I love peanut sauce, and they have one of the best in the country, so of course we had to order both the Chicken Satay and the Beef Satay as appetizers. The tender chicken and meat were smothered with the delicious peanut sauce, and we couldn’t help but eat every bit of it. As mains, we ordered the Butter Chicken and the Dhal Makhani. They are both comforting platters that come with a side of rice. The Dhal Makhani was rich and felt kind of smoky to me in a way, but the closer one to my heart was that very tasty Butter Chicken. We had the Poppadoms as a side too, and they truly are addictive; they are light and crispy in a delicate way. When we were done, we were kindly offered Ginger Beignets on the house; it seems to be their way of appreciating their customers. The dessert was good, but it has an eccentric taste that you have to like to enjoy. Then, it was time to pay. When you order the bill, you get a handwritten one, which you can also say is part of Jai’s charm. Yet, liking the personal touch to our receipt was followed by a cash only request. It so happened that we were out of cash, so my husband had to walk under the rain to an ATM machine at a nearby hospital. To be honest, it is not a far walk, but it still was a bit impractical I think. However, this is all forgotten when you consider the friendly service and welcoming people at this “hidden gem”. To sum up my lunch experiences at Jai: whenever I feel like satisfying my craving for peanut sauce, this eatery is definitely one that comes to mind.

UNARGUABLY THE BEST ASIAN RESTAURANT IN BEIRUT. PERIOD. Very tiny place, but with incredible tastes. The chef here has had long cooking experiences in Asia and uses the same techniques in this restaurant. The spices are deep, the tastes are incredible. For starters try the dumplings and bhagis. All the rest are great as well. As a main dish, the curry is amazing but also feels like the least exotic taste here. Try the Pad kee mao, Nasi goreng or Singapore noodles, some of my favourites. And guys, Ive tried tons of Asian desserts everywhere that are okay but HERE the DESERTS ARE PHENOMENAL, especially the ginger beignets.

I never visited the place but we sometimes order delivery to the office or at home. Considering the lack of good Asian food in Lebanon, Jai is ok with well priced food. Not everything is full flavour, it needs a better punch; the Pad Thai is pretty decent, and the green beef curry is good, and they have a good beef Thai noodles salad. I think the Indian dishes need more Indian spices, they are too mild.

Food was great. Thai green curry with prawn was fantastic (26,000 LP). It’s a bit on the higher end, but it’s worth it.the restaurant itself is small (literally two tables) and there is limited seating. It’s cozy, but not spacious. We arrived at lunchtime and there were already people seated so we just stood outside under the sun, there was no place to really sit or wait.We decided to take away and I was surprised that they added an extra 1,000 for each entree, I guess we were charged extra because it was take away? I feel that they should have mentioned that when we placed our order. Plus, we only opted for take away because there was no seating available when we arrived, we didn’t want to wait and we didn’t want to rush anyone else.I would recommend and I’ll definitely be back for the curry, but I’ll come at night when it’s cooler just in case I need to wait again.Edit to original post: I went a second time for dinner and it was a more pleasant experience, more tables set up outside and better service.Thai green curry and Thai coconut milk soup were great. The Laksa was also great. Dumplings were average, ok but not a dish I would order there again.

We were seated at a two-seat table outside against the wall of the restaurant. At some point during dinner, I heard a flush and then a ghastly odor. The odor lingered and lingered. Water began sleeping out onto the sidewalk. Suddenly a worker with an ammonia smelling liquid in a pail came by splashed it beneath our feet, along the sidewalk and started mopping up the area and continued to splash us. No, “sorry” “pardon.” Then he plugged the base on the wall by the sidewalk with a smelly cloth. Delightful. Obviously a toilet overflowed and joined us for dinner. We ordered a bottle of Pino Gris from the local Khoury vineyards. They brought an already uncorked, open bottle. We poured our own glass. It was undrinkable. We immediately complained. Too bad. We paid for it! Now, if you don’t mind stench, feces, and ghastly wine at dinner, then go. You will pay for it all! Oh, and the waiters have quite the attitude. For me, never again. And thus, my sharing this warning. Filthy place with attitude and mediocre food, at best. Really deserves no “stars.”
