Unique experience to see so many temples structures together.The place is amazing, Wonderful old temples with fantastic carvings in a peaceful setting. Definitely worth a visit.Was at this place with one of my friends. Liberally liked kind of loneliness of this secluded place. There used to be 101 temples but now only about 20 of them exist. We just visited some of them and I loved watching different sized turtles which are known as vehicle of Goddess Yamuna.

Bateshwar is a village in Agra District, on the banks of the river Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Bateshwar is in between Agra and Etawah and is 5 km from Bah. It is an important spiritual and cultural centre for Hindus and Jains. It is known for the 101 Shiv Temple Complex. An annual religious and animal fair is also organised in the village ground area.

Bateshwar is a Village in Agra District, Uttar Pradesh. It is known as Kashi of Bhadawar. In Treta Yuga it was known as Shoor Sainpur. The famous Ghat in Bateshwar Ghat is still known as Kansh Kagar. Ten kilometers north of Baah is Bateshwar Dham, the famous place of Baba Bhole Nath on the bank of river Yamuna. A huge fair is held here every year from Kartik Shukla Paksha Dooj, and one hundred and one temples of Lord Shiva were built on the banks of river Yamuna by the then king Maharaj Bhadavar. A story is told for Bateshwar Dham, that their queens conceived at the place of King Bhadavar and the then King Parmar, and both the kings were a good friend, there was an agreement between the two that whoever would have a daughter, she would be the son of the other. King Parmar and King Bhadavar both had a daughter, and King Bhadavar informed Parmar that his son was born, the Parmar king did not know about his falsehood, he continued to raise his daughter. And King kept waiting for Bhadavars son to marry his daughter. When the daughter of King Bhadavar came to know that her father had lied to King Parmar with a promise to marry his daughter, she started worshiping Lord Shiva at a place called Bateshwar to fulfill her fathers promise. When the news of King Parmar started coming to King Bhadavar that now the marriage should be done soon, on the other hand, the daughter of King Bhadavar started doing penance to keep her fathers honor, and due to his request not being heard, she tried to save her fathers shame. He jumped into the Yamuna river to commit suicide. The worship of Lord Shiva was a miracle, and she was born in the form of a female male at this place, for the same reason, King Bhadavar got one hundred and one temples built at this place, which today is famous as Bateshwar. Here the Yamuna river has flowed in the form of a reverse stream for four kilometers.

There has been a 19-mile detour due to the turning of the stream of Yamuna. After the fall of the Bhadoria dynasty, Marathas came to power in Bateshwar in the 17th century. Sanskrit learning was more prevalent here during this period. Due to which Bateshwar is also called Chhoti Kashi. It was at this place that the Sardar named Narushankar paid homage to the Marathas who received the Viragati after the Third Battle of Panipat (1761 AD), and a huge temple was built in his memory, which still exists today. The ruins and idols of many Vaishnav and Jain temples have been found in the excavation of the Siddhi area of ​​Shoripur. The present Shiva temple here is very large and magnificent. A temple has a 6-foot-high statue of Parvati ornamented with gold jewelery, which is counted among the most beautiful sculptures in India.
