Milestones is a truly amazing place! A brilliant living history museum comprising of many shops, houses and factories all re-created under one huge roof. Many of the staff are dressed in period costumes and look most impressive. There are lots of things to do, to look at, and to entertain. A big gift shop area is included, and the vintage tea tent is a must for delicious tea and cakes. I would certainly giveMilestones five stars except for the fact that although the service in the Rooftops Restaurant was fast and friendly, we found the quality of the food a little below par.... But dont let that put you off a visit.... Its still a great day out!
A fascinating chance to touch, live and breath history. All undercover so no problems if the weather is not good! It,s worth picking up a walk around audio guide like a small phone. Also loads for kids to do and get involved with, plus lots to interest big kids (adults) The old fashioned sweet shop is a must to visit. We had a great day out here!
A very interesting museum. The external entrance and facia is off-putting. It does not do the museum justice. It looks like a holiday camp entrance...however dont be put off, well worth the visit.Great for hands on visual history. School groups would love this.
It is an amazing experience!!! It was pretty busy because its a place for everyone from kids (yong age) to elderly people. We spend there 2 hours and even didnt feel that. There is a cafe inside if u get hungry. And there is a gift shop at the entrance/exit wich u going on your way out. Prices are a bit too high but thats in all the gift shops.
Fantastic place to visit, so much to see. The cafe was very good value for money, food delicious and served with a smile
We all really enjoyed our visit here. So many things to look at. The kids (and us adults) loved playing the old arcade games. Found all the staff there very friendly, especially the lady working in the teddybear shop 😁👍
Actualy went there for a wedding reception/ birthday party and lovely atmosphere and friendly staff
One of the most remarkable places in the UK ! So good that isbso easy to get lost back in time ! Recommended for all age groups 👌
Brilliant day out, free parking, good restaurant, very friendly staff and great for kids young and old an indoor town with trams, trains and beautifully restored vehicles of the past including some lovely motorcycles. The shops and buildings including a lovely little house shows the kids of today how life was way back when. Highly recommended.
A good few hours out really well presented and an enjoyable experience 😊
We enjoyed our few hours here, it was quite. Good cup tea from the cafe. Only giving it 4* as we did think it was a bit expensive to enter. Yes your ticket is value for a year but for us we saw all what we needed to see in this visit so giving us more visits is irrelevant really. Wed rather have paid less. OAP prices are from age 66!
A place well worth visiting great fun for adults and kids especially on the pier. Everything is indoors so no need to worry about the weather. Plenty of places to sit and rest along the route. There is a cafe serving food and drinks and plenty of parking.Check google street maps as the sat nav takes you to the premier inn. Although there are brown direction signs when you are close.
Excellent visit. Well worth admission. My grand daughter loved it spending old money in the shops etc. Well laid out and really interesting and nostalgic
A very interesting place for the gentlemen, not a lot of things for the ladies
Lovely place for the family. My kids always enjoy themselves. Also great for anyone interested in local history.
We took our 6yo granddaughter, and we all had a great day. It is like an old town inside a giant warehouse its quite remarkable how much they have got into a small space. Completely enclosed so great place to take the kids on a rainy day. And very wheelchair - push chair friendly with lifts to every floor and ramps on the pavements. Only complaint and the reason for giving only 4 stars is the horrendous price of the food in the cafe, we paid over £40 for what amounted to a snack for 3 people and that is not right! Also there doesnt seem to be anywhere to eat a picnic lunch if you did bring one. We would definitely go again, but next time eat in the fast food outlet up the road.
Unfortunately our visit today had to be a little rushed due to trying to fit as much as possible into our trip. The museum was very interesting and atmospheric with taped sounds on the majority of the exhibits. However our tickets allow for us to return anytime for 12 months. We will be back. 👍
Fantastic place. Lots to enjoy, a step back in time. Nice staff. Highly recommended. Outstanding.wil visit again.
Fun place for kids but I would not say it’s the best for very young kids. You can spend a few hours here and the cafe is not bad but still feels a little overpriced at £60 for a family of 4 + 1 grandparent. Tickets are valid for 1 year. Mix of educational and interactive exhibits. Space theme was a temporary exhibit for Feb 2020.
Thanks to covid its nowhere near as good as it used to be. Everything is roped off , shops shut and a one way system in place. I went along to help them out as Im sure they are struggling financially as with all businesses. All the arcade games have been removed and fun interactive bits for the kids are gone. I pray it returns to normal as quickly as possible
Omg what an amazing place felt like I was living back in the day loved the underground boat trip and the School and all the amazing shops as they were in the day well worth a visit
We have spent really nice time, bit of history there, bit of games, and trail quiz was really entertaining. We enjoy it very much.
A very good and interesting museum. I hadnt been here for 8 or 9 years. A stunning place as you walk through history. Many displays set in the past with museum staff adding to the ambience by wearing period costumes. The pub, the music shop, the toy shop, the garage, the sweet shop. A very worthwhile visit. Easy to find and parking is good.
Absolutely lovely place, buildings are downstairs with historic items in each building, open bar selling alcohol was a mini restplace, old vehicles parked around the place adds a great feel to the place.....great day out for all the family
Great for kids.Better when things are open as things closed due to covid.Amazing your ticket lasts a whole year too so u can visit as many times as u want in that year.
Second time visiting. Lovely as always. If you enjoy history, particularly of old vehicles and engines then youll love it. It isnt a huge place but there is so much crammed in. Sadly the sweet shop and pub werent open, maybe Covid related and the staff in the cafe seemed in to be in a state of chaos! However all staff we encounted were very pleasant, particularly at the entrance desk and the guy in the arcades. Talking of the arcades, really cheap fun. Arcades machines from Victorian period through to the 90s. Will go back again soon.
Had a really good day with the kids who all found it interesting, good price considering you get a year round ticket. Would have been 5 stars if the sweet shops and pub were open although I assume this is due to covid
Santas grotto was amazing! They really went all out and then got to make a tree decoration afterwards. The museum itself is really well done, the vehicles are immaculately restored and the attention to detail is stunning.Parking is free, the shop has a massive variety and the cafe serves up a good selection of snacks and meals (if a little expensive).A great afternoon out!
Lots to see, interesting and well set out. Grandchildren enjoyed it so did we.
A fantastic day out for all ages
Excellent museum with some fun attractions for all the family to enjoy. At the moment there is an excellent Lego display with some incredible constructions. Also don’t miss the sweet shop. Some very good old vehicles on display with a testament to the manufacturing that historically took place at this site.Easy to park and your ticket allows for repeat visits during the year.
Amazing museum to visit plenty of parking recommended
After watching a video on YouTube I just wanted to visit this place that didnt disappoint us at all. There are so much to look at and this fantastic museum definitely makes you want to go back again... Staff are friendly. Its a great day out for everyone.
Brilliant place to visit, learn the history of Basingstoke and surrounding areas, lots for children to see read and get involved in.The Pier is really good and the teddy bear display lovely, also the toy shop.well worth a visit.
A good place to take kids - family ticket lasts one year so very good value!
Excellent place to spend a few hours, estate when the weather is wet! Kids loved the arcade area, lots of change spent!
Penny arcade was great fun. Such simple pleasures from not such a long time ago.
Very interesting place to visit for both old and young. Looks small from outside but lots to see inside. We were there for nearly 4 hours.
Not a lot of signage or interaction. Lots of lovely pieces of interest in a great setting.
Wonderful place full of history. Some great vehicles and steam engines
Visited with my elderly parents for a nostalgic trip back in time. The audio tour is worth doing as it highlights all the details you would otherwise miss. There was no particular logic to the lay out, just wander round as you please and explore all the individual shops and houses.Certain attractions had volunteer staff dressed in period costumes there to answer any questions. One nice touch was the pub. Initially I thought it would be another exhibit but no, this was a real period pub serving beer and snacks. The contactless card machine was a reminder we were NOT paying 1930s prices 😁The Peaky Blinders type barman looked the part and an old lady banging out the tunes on the piano made for a very authentic experience. The facilities and gift shop were very good but the cafe was a let down when we were told there would be a minimum 40 minute wait for food and staff not that apologetic stating so. It wasnt even busy, I would imagine just short staffed. We decided to go and find somewhere else local to take our money for lunch.Other than the cafe, I would recommend a visit. This is good for all ages
Always a lovely day out good price considering you can go back all year round. Loving the new pier and you can use contactless to get money and pennys to use on the machines which was great. Cafe is nice but could do with a few more options that are veggie and vegan.Lovely day out will be back again soon
Lovely open space indoors, well thought out exhibits. Using the audio guide is a must and really adds to the experience
Its good ...but cant compare to Beamish and IronbridgeProbably better for younger familiesNice café though and nice staff
Really well done walk back in time imagine walking down the high street a hundred years ago.Free audio guides are a must ,took me about one and a half hours to go round.Take your time go in all the shop etc.I did two laps to ensure I saw everything.2 hour if you included a drink in snack in the old pub!
This was interesting and there was decent stuff to see. Although there could have done with more staff members around in the buildings etc which would have made it more fun. There was one lady in period clothing and that was it. All I all though the museum looks well looked after and its a fun place to visit. Think we will go back again for one of their themed events
This place is very realistic, educational and fun all at the same time. With a traditional old pub for dad, a Victorian sweet shop for the kids and a tea shop on a village green for Mum. Then you can spend family time In the penny arcade.Meanwhile you can wonder around the streets and shops listing to the guide seeing just how we used to live.Weve been back again and again with our annual return ticket.Highly recommended
We loved it. Best museum we have been to in ages!
Great place to spend a few hours. Good café with reasonable prices. Parking right outside.
With current Covid restrictions, access is restricted to many exhibits, but it felt safe and was not too busy. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. An enjoyable visit
Spent 2 hours reliving the past in an excellent setting. Its amazing how much of life has changed for the better. A must visit venue.
Excellent museum. Staff could not be friendlier and there is lots to see and do. Surprises around every corner.
Surprisingly good museum, lots of very good quality objects in a very nice themed enviroment if you wannt to learn about local history.
Stopped in here on the way back to London from the new Forrest .While not everything was open as it normally would be I still really enjoyed itDefinitely recommend a trip if youre in the area .
Really interesting place to look round especially if you like history.I found the time our coach company gave us too long, but I would go again.
Interesting layout, and well presented family oriented. Did NOT like being made to pay an ANNUAL entry fee for somewhere that I am very unlikely to visit again (I dont live here)
Loved it here, so interesting. Great for young and old. The little pub with a pianist was fab, singing along to lots of old tunes!
A good few hours out with the kids (9&10). Get the year pass as the same price !Lots of activities going on and interesting to see life gone by.The kids love the 1d machines...
Entertaining, educational and fun for young (my 3yr old grandson loves going there) and old - very evident during our visit. The environment is clean and exhibits in excellent condition. Besides buying a small bag of sweeties in a real sweet shop a pleasant cafe serves the usual light meals which also include hot freshly prepared food. The vegetable curry we had was delicious. Great place to visit when its rainy
Well worth a visit for all age ranges. Under cover so good in all weathers. Plenty of old vehicles to look at set in period style buildings and shops. An old pub serving beer, a sweet shop, a penny arcade and a modern café.
Loved the place plenty to see and nice little coffee shop
Great day out for the whole family.Disabled access is also great although beware on the cobbled road in places.
Very interesting thought we would be there about 2 hrs but were there 4 .
Good staff pleasant venue well laid out extremely enjoyable and informative well worth the visit
My grandchildren loved seeing the olden days. When the C19 restrictions ease it will be even better
Had a love day there yesterday very interesting place to visit
Great place to visit. Lots of brilliant history.
Unusually this venue offers an outside experience (mini streets, buildings, etc) but completely under cover so ideal for wet and cold days. Fantastic range of exhibits, lots of engagement for children, including school trips. Audio tour (device per guest) didnt always match exhibits which was a shame. Felt the price was a tad expensive compared to other similar experiences (Black Country Living Museum for example). All in all a thoroughly enjoyable day out.
A favourite. Really really lovely. Kids and adults will love it
Should be renamed the Do not touch museum. Hardly anything is interactive and the only buildings in the village that you can actually enter and engage with are the two where you have to pay.Images below are of the terrible reading space in the old toy shop. Everything else in the space was behind a glass screen. I kid you not... there were two books. There is quite a good 3-5 year old area but it has no seats for parents/carers. The bench is outside the room so you cant supervise. This made it tough with my toddler and 4 month old as I had nowhere to feed the baby whilst the toddler played. It is like a very beautiful stage set. This would be great for pensioners to reminisce but for families with young kids (or any kids who are not VERY interested in the second world war) there are much more engaging villages out there.
Very interesting if you love the history of Hampshire.
A real treat for all ages. They recreate life (streets, shops etc) from the 1930s onwards. They also frequently have special extras - at the moment there are amazing lego characters!
Lovely place to spend a few hours. A step back in time, my folks came with me and remembered some of the exhibition the first time around!!
Went with my daughter during half term whilst the Lego exhibition was on, both really enjoyed ourselves. Wouldnt overly suggest it if there wasnt an exhibition on as well as the normal museum for kids, but all in all we had a good day out with some interesting stuff!... Highly recommended the old style museum toy shop! Shows kids what generations before had to play with!! Not a game console or tablet in sight 🙊
Great place to go with kids although I think there should be an option to buy tickets for the day instead of an annual pass.
