This a good place to find all traditional items from West Bengal.Saris, dress material, kurta, shirts, gift items, Kantha sari, stoles, kurta and cotton Kantha saris.Reasonable, decent collection. Go early to beat the afternoon rush.Close to Shantiniketan, Shonjhuri haat. Both places can be visited in one day.
Its a cooperative.. hosting artisan and handicraft works. All under one roof. While the prices are about 15% higher than the open market and haat.. it gives you the comfort to be under one roof and explore and indulge in the varieties.
An initiative by west bengal Government,Nice place to visit here. But the best time to explore this place is winter. Now the situation is quite different as because of the pendemic situation is going on.So guys if you want to visit this place please carry your protective equipment, that will be helpful for you
Good place to visit. There is a lot of talking going on right now about nature preservation, green living and fighting global warming. All things I myself am a great partisan of. But why exactly is it that nature is so very important for us? Is it just because it’s pretty to look at, or makes us feel good? I think it goes even further than that. I think nature is the most intense connection we haven in this world with our own true nature. You don’t have to be a meditator or a spiritual practitioner to experience this, anyone can quite easily experience this in nature.
Very good collection with reasonable price. Saree collection and hand made product collection are very good .
Good place to buy shantiniketans GI leather souvenirs in the form of various useful products. Also one can visit the block print section for the knowledge of fabric dyeing. A short path will take u to the not so mighty khoai river as well, looks beautiful in the evening.
Famous place to shop leather make products - bag, decorative box and much more innovative items. Get cotton clothes as well in reasonable price. This is open now for shopping with mask and sanitizer.
One of the favorite tourist attractions near Santiniketan. 5 kms away from Santiniketan.. Kathastich.. Oder khadi garments and Santiniketan style decorative items can be bought here...
Very nice place . Enjoyed a lot. Great food and nice staffs and management. Hope to visit again
For shopping its too good but the ladies washroom does not have tap or any water source
The place is filled with lush greenery which is very soothing. When visiting Shantiniketan one must visit here especially for the scenic beauty. Theres a gallery where one can get varied items of starting from meticulous handicrafts to sarees although the pricing is a bit on the steeper side.
A very good place to buy local hand crafted materials and sarees, punjabi and other dress materials, leather bags. A little high price but quality of goods are excellent. Product qualities are far far better than the products available in Sonajhuri Haat or any other road side shops. Visit all the places and compare the products and you will feel the difference. Employees are well behaved. Every thing you get under one roof. A must visit place for women 😃😃
Excellent Handiwork from local artisans ☺️😍
Thisbplace is a totem of honesty, integrity and all goodness in human endeavours. To understand the place and its shared history with Indias struggle for independence is an experience itself. Add to that its superb collection of cloths and artifacts and the satisfaction that you are getting an opportunityto contribute to the happiness of artisan families is a rare treat. Go there for an exclusive experience. Apportion about 3 hours at least.
Aesthetic and peaceful are the two most befitting adjectives for this place.
A hidden chapter of our history of independence. The museum is a great one and the collection is worthy of a major shock to the generation grown up with the fabricated history written by the paid and pet historians about our struggle of independence. The erstwhile village self help group has developed as a co-operative society and presenly provides a variety of handicrafts produced locally mostly by the women self help groups of surrounding villages. The place is presently known mostly by these magnificent handicrafts, though the piece of history is equally described boldly in this historic campus. A must visit once you are in and around Shantiniketan.
Handcraft products showroom room in shantiniketan .But price is high.
Very good place. All people are very Cooperative. All merchandise are reasonably priced.
Its a very initiative complex for poor and rural people. It was an oldest project for making aware the common public. We visited the shopping complex. There are many Bangali Products to buy.
If youre looking for little bit marketing,Then its fine. But Theres nothing without that..
It is a handcraft shop. Clothings and items made by villagers around here are displayed and sold. There are beautiful handmade bags, sarees, file bags, and so on. The place is good if you want something Shantiniketani.
A must visit place in Bolpur, Shantiniketan. Amazing ambience of nature. Amar kutir showroom is a boon. Varieties of handmade stuffs are ready available. The flute/ flok song performances are excellent by the local artists.
Best quality leather products at affordable prices.. Situated 4 km away from bolpur..Nice place to visit..You can visit the park also near this amar kutir..You can have your lunch there..Nice place for a single day outing..Located in Bolpur Suri Road..You can also take the route of Amar kutir road from Shantiniketan via Syhambati..
Hand made leather bags, saries and other handicraft items are being sold here. Items are seems to be costly. Not much attractive. Few roses are there in the garden.
Very good. Good price.
Good shopping experience at reasonable prices. Better to buy than to haggle at street markets.
Property is good, but need better maintenance. Support staffs are really good, but very few in number.. limiting the needed services..food is avg, few items, like chilli chicken, chicken pakora, etc are pathetic.. need to be taken care asap..
A variety of hand crafted, kantha-stitched items like bags, stoles, kurtas and so on are available. The prices are a bit on the higher end. This place has become a staple for people who visit Bolpur because it brings out the art and craft of the place. It also has exhibition rooms and if one ventures behind the building, one can go straight down to the Kopai river.
Decent place if u want to ignore crowd of sona jhuri bazar (sonibarer bazar, though its not recommended to ignore sona jhuri market).
Very good. It is a better place for shopping (cloths & handicrafts)in its class compared with other nearby shops/haat.
Good quality good price
Very beautiful, but cost of product is very high other than outside shop
Very good place for handicrafts, eco park, and good food served at WBTDC guest House just nearby
Amar kuthir is a shop located on the banks of the Kopai River in Shantiniketan, Bolpur. It is a cooperative society for the promotion of arts and crafts. Attractive products made of kantha stitch, leather, pottery, dhokra, wood and cane are available here at very reasonable prices. A must visit for local handicrafts.
A one stop destination for all traditional items starting from sculptures to art, leather bags to batik sarees, etc. Cannot them them all. You get to see the making of leather items at the factory, making of batik items as well. The place has a nice restaurant called Hensel Ghar which serves traditional delicacies. And while going to the store, you need to cross a red soil road (ranga matir poth) which is a beautiful experience of Shantiniketan.
Good place for clothes. Other show pieces are expensive. Instead go to Sonajhuri Saturday market
As I m giving honest review I may get haters . The reason for 3 star is that too much pricing on goods which are not so that so much that is tagged on the product
A good collection of goods and articles prepared by the local villagers. Excellent
One of my favourite place. Peace 😍
Splendid ambience... Food is good...Beautiful place to stay... Nearby Amar Kuthi... Khoyai haat is nearby too...few kms from bolpur ... Good hospitality
Beautiful roads. Also lovely handicrafts are available
Its like a cultural place with shopping mall. So its very obvious that you may choose a thing, pick it up and pay the required payment 😂. Nice place ♥️
One shopping destination for the handicrafts bhukkar in you. DIRT CHEAP fabric but excellent quality. Most are handmade or handloom. Sarees, stoles, Khesh, brass handicrafts, cane, jewelleries, paper quilled handicrafts...you get everything here. Take time in hand before your visit!
Always a must-visit for me when at Bolpur. Still offers the classiest knick-knacks at the most affordable pricing!
Quite good 😊
The collection and the handcrafted products are simply superb. The culture and craftsmanship of West Bengal under one roof.
This place has a good varitey of handicrafts and showpieces also clothes for men and women.
A place with historical background on Swedeshi Movement. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose visited here.
Nice shopping place
Very Beautiful please
Very nice.. Specifically d art museum
Good place for shopping but rates are high
Getting to know about its history and its ties with Indias struggle for freedom was a great experience. You get a nice view of kopai river at its back and great souvenirs to shop. Cute gifts for loved ones+ supporting a cause - all at once.
Nice place with beautiful pieces of work
A very nice and attractive handicrafts place ,visit and enjoy its
Santiniketan is known as LalMatirDesh and the place which can boast of the LalMati in its premises even today is Amar Kuthi. Established in 1923 by the noted freedom fighter SusenMukherjee,it was closed by the British during the Swadeshi Movement. It was again re-opened by Tagore after independence. This society provides training and development of handmade products to rural people, especially the women. When you visit Amar Kuthi you can visit the different workshops making handicrafts and also fill your shopping bags with exquisite handicrafts.
Awesome place ..... should visit one
Products are good but need more innovative ideas
Amar Kutir Shantiniketan is a historical place where social development as a cooperative self empowerment through collective efforts started several decades ego. This place now offers wide range of products specially handicrafts and leather products of different varieties made by local artisans
Huge collection of handicrafts products at reasonable price
Very good.Huge collection of cloth and craft materials
Huge stock & choiceable... But too costly
Many times I have visited this store since my college days. Very unique handcrafted materials are available here made by local artists. Great place to buy souvenirs at reasonable prices. Good quality. Knowledgeable staffs. Getting here is also easy by bus from Bolpur bus stand or you can hire a battery rickshaw (toto) from Bolpur railway station. A small exhibition hall is also there. Restroom available.
Nice Place with original quality products.
