To visit the museum you have to buy tickets in advance on the museums website. There are available time slots with steps of 15 min between them.The main building contents a large collection of copies of the famous sculptures by their epochs.There in museum it is allowed to make the pictures and to sketch with a charcoal on a paper sized no more than A4.If you choose not crowded day, it is a calm place to explore and sketch the items.

Painting exposition in the main building is quite boring. There are no any special art examples. Nice Egypt and Mesopotamia halls. Beautiful sculpture hall. Sometimes there can be good temporary exhibitions, like Bill Viola in the first half of 2021.

This museum is rich in art and the architecture of the building. Its not gigantic, but you will get to travel through ancient greece and 15th - 16th century art. Many of which are reproductions (statues) molden on the originals. If you forget about the facy they are reproductions and you spend some time looking at the art and the yeats when they were actually made, you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that the srill date multiple centuries ago and deserve just as much respect.Got the chance to view original study drawings that inspired bigger pieces and its very inspiring. Seeing the process and the approach of these masters of art when they were in search of perfection is truly worth your time.I enjoyed analyzing these different drawings, the strokes and the details which came to eventually create some of the world renowed pieces we came to all know.

So under rated on the world scene, I was shocked of the priceless history this place holds. One of the best museums that exist in this world. Dont miss it. This place will leave you in awe.

The Pushkin State Museum holds a fantastic array of artifacts, antiquities, and artistic creations from almost every age, every continent, and every major school of painting and sculpture. There are scientific exhibits as well that are very well done. It’s a must-see place when you are in Moscow—whether for a long stay or for just two days as I was in August, 2019.

Time has to be invested for a good visit of this museum, since it holds a lot of art pieces that deserve such time, I unfortunately did not have enough time, but I could witness a good part of it. Sculptures, ceramics, and paintings make up the main part of the exhibition. Artists like Rembrandt, Veronese, Botticelli, Rubens, Degas, Matisse, Miró, and many others are found here. A very interesting visit. Along with permanent collection, there are always several important exhibitions.

Amazing entourage for mostly replicas (except for the Egyptian mummies, Persian stone writings and Russian paintings). Interior design and lighting are perfect for each historical period hall. Will suit any blogger for selfies.

Amazing museum that holds, we saw the the exhibit of impressionist artists and it was looking into a book of art history. All the masters and some of their greatest works, ground floor of the museum especially the Egyptian room is worth seeing, many of the sculptures are plaster reproductions however. Opens at 11 recommend getting tickets ahead of time as the line in can be a tad long and e-tickets entitles you to skip it

Loved the place! Make sure you go at least an hour before they open in the morning to stand in line. it can really get busy! If you plan to book a ticket online, do it at least two days in advance. Plan to spend at least two hours in this beautiful meausm.

Superb museum with good English audio guides. Store your bags and coat in the cloakroom for a more comfortable visit. The current Rembrandt special exhibition is wonderful.

One of the places you cannot miss while visiting Moscow. It is difficult to find such a wast collection of impressionists under one roof.Best to book online tickets in advance (as soon as you book your flight) as museum is loved by locals as well as foreigners. We did not know that so we spent 2 hours in a line, but it was definitely worth it.Most recommend!

The London School Exhibit was amazing. I have no words to describe the level of excitement of seeing the work of Lucius Freud and Francis Bacon. The museum in general has a interesting selection of works from bizantine art, Italian and Germanic Renaissance. It also has a display of egipcian and Greek artifacts. What is special about this museum is that some of the rooms have thematic decors related to the exhibit.

The museum is quite compact and takes 2-3 hours to see. But not be tricked by its modest size, the collection is really gorgeous, especially Schukin exhibition. I was so amazed how the man managed to collect so many masterpieces in his lifetimeIn my opinion the place is must to visit in Moscow

First of all, i hope everybody doesn’t make a mistake to visit this place to see the Pushkin. This museum doesn’t relate with Pushkin at all. You could notice that I missed to visit this place to see Pushkin. Although it doesn’t relate with Pushkin, it was a good museum to see and so many Russians are there. Finally, the things from Troy is impressive though.

One of my favourite museums in the world. Yes, it mostly contains a copy of the masterpieces. I spend all my years in university visiting this museum and getting ready for all kind art exams. But they also have temporary expositions.

Great collection in one place, well technically two buildings next door to each other. Great sculpture collection...and they all clearly say theyre plaster casts, so the museum isnt trying to trick anyone. Make sure you get a ticket for both buildings, the European artist collection in the gallery next to the main building is one if the best Ive seen. Oh and dont forget to get a ticket for any travelling exhibits, there was a Picasso one when u visited, I couldnt believe my luck. Also dont miss out on the Cathedral of Christ the saviour, directly across the road.

Probably the best collection of impressionists in the world, except Museum dOrsay!

This is a great museum with a huge collection of art. It also has plaster casts of lots of the famous statues and buildings. It is definitely worth a visit. There is often a huge cue outside, but if you either buy the tickets online or in the museum of contemporary art next door you can access the museum from a side door with virtually no cue.

Pushkin museum has a lot to propose.Pitty that you cannot access the 2 museum buildings with the same ticket.I focused on European impressionism gallery in the second building across the street.It was really beautiful, a large collection of Monet, Renoir, Pissaro aside of Van Gogh and Picasso as well.Entrance fees are 400 roubles.

Actually its not necessary to visit there. Inside of the museum is good and cool but not big and most of important painting is Fake! Also, they didnt accept my University id card beacuse women who is responsible for the queue told us Only international student id card acceptable . Thats why I had to pay douple price.

Must visit while in Moscow. There is fabulous contrast between the permanent collection and the temporary at the moment. The new collections always provide something new and exciting to admire and walk through.Absolutely buy tickets only and set a time beforehand, the line was over 2 hours waiting when we were there, worth the wait but be smart and book ahead.Theres also lots to see in the area so make a day of it!

Great museum, if you like art and visit Moscow you should visit this museum!It contains innumerable art pieces (sculptures, paintings, ancient objects) the museum is divided in 30 areas, on 2 levels in which stands out the ancient Egypt room, Rembrandt and his school room (contains 6 Rembrandt paintings) and the Italian art ( Michelangelos David)Can visit all the museum in approximately 3-4 hours.

I feel cheated... this “gallery” has rooms filled with tacky plaster casts (very poorly done), it makes me question how many of the works are even real...?It felt like walking in the garden section of Home Depot where they sell cheap plaster fountains.I enjoyed the collection of 19 century paintings, but now I cannot even know if they are also just cheap imitations.

A wonderful place to be, with fantastic pieces of art. Many different representations of cultures long ago. You could spend hours enjoying all that this museum has to offer. The Egyptian exzibet was great. While we visited there was a special Rembrandt exhibition, his work is absaloty mind blowing! Such lifelike portraits that come alive to tell you their story if you care to take the time and just gaze into the past. Would definitely recommend this place to art and history Enthusiasts...

I loved the Goya - Dali Капричос exhibition: two series of etchings displayed together that allow to enjoy the fine mastery of Francisco Goya, provide a deeper understanding of the sense of “Los Caprichos”, and present an artistic remark to this series produced by Salvador Dalí.Till 12 March 2017.

The exhibition dedicated to Rembrandt is interesting, you can discuss it in the local caffe. Very nice place. Souvenir shops are good, there are useful books about art.

Absolutely stunning museum! A hole day isnt enough to see everything. Audio Guide in many different languages is available. Use it, its really worth! This museum is little bit like the Louvre; small against Louvre of corse but a similar composition.

This is excellent, classic fine arts museum with excellent collections. This is no huge like the State Hermitage in Saint Petersburg but it is better to plan at least three hours for your visit. You are going to see many artifacts from the times of ancient Egypt, Assyria and Greece. West European sculptures and paintings of XV - XVII centuries. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light and tripod. Highly recommended for yours visit.

A great deal of sculptures (roman ) and painting depicting Christ-relates things and noble or royal families. Theres audioguide available in about in languages.

Beware, they close early. For example, museum today closes at 8pm however it also says last tickets sold at 7pm. We were here few minutes before 7pm yet gates already closed.For us 1 hour would be plenty in the museum but now we cannot go because either someone is super lazy and wants to leave work early or their watch is ahead. Either way, this is quite rude for worldcup or any tourists who are here visiting Moscow once in their lifetime.

Near Kremlin it was a very good exhibition with great paintings of well known painters for a good quality/price: 400 RUB (6 EUR) per adult. It was european impressionists and temporary exhibition of posters.There were a short queue (5/10 min) before entry on week-end.

Huge and contains a lot paintings and sculptures. Will need around two hours to explore the various sections within the main building. At present, May 2018, they have a Rembrandt exhibition within the main building and will need a separate or combined ticket. A nice experience in general!

A gem overlooked by many visitors to Moscow. Priams Treasure (discovered by Schliemann at Troy) by itselfwould make the trip worthwhile by but there is far far more to discover! Not much information on the collection available in English or in Russian but you can certainly get by without it.

There are paintings of Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Cloude Monet, Henri Matisse, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Edgar Degas, Rembrandt, Vasily Kandinsky, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cezanne, Édouard Manet. Great museum, beautiful interiors. It’s divided in two parts and required the purchase of two different tickets. Lines can be long. The collection isn’t the largest and this is by far not the most extensive or varied museum in Moscow.

Great museum. I went in particular for a special exhibition that was going on. I found it amusing that rather than have the exhibition in its own space they simply covered up the permanent collection works with black cloths and scooted the sculpture out of the way. It became a backdrop for the amazing collection on display. Overall the building is old and interesting. The gift shop is not really a shop. More of a concession stand type setup. I like a good museum shop where you can wander around looking at everything. This is very limited. As an American I was disappointed that they didnt have a copy of the exhibition catalog in English. HINT: Order your tickets online to avoid potentially long lines!! Then you can scoot right in the side door and off you go..

A couple of excellent works, especially in the paintings on the 2nd floor. Besides that a lot of plaster cast copies. Worth a blitz visit ifbin the neighbourhood but far from outstanding

Both permanent exposition and special exhibitions are great! Well worth your time -- just plan at least half a day to have a good look. I would definitely return given an opportunity.
